From time to time as im driving to either speed up or slow down, my car has no power and then within 2-3 seconds it hits hard back into gear. I researched it on line about other Lexus and it stated that the problem Is in the computer and it has a glitches in the system that needs to be reset/cleared , there are times when it hits so hard that it feels like you have been rear-ended and hurts your back and neck . This Is very dangerous and should be fixed by Lexus at Lexus expense, thank you.

This car Is very dangerous. Whatcan I do??? I refuse to use the freeway until this problem Is resolved.

Sudden engine stalling in the middle of a highway with extremely heavy traffic and stopped in the center lane. Needs to wait inside the car with a passenger in a very scary, tense situation and exposed to serious accident, until a towing arrive for about 1. 5 hrs later. The car was towed to the dealer. Since I was in the middle of a highway, I wasn’t able to exit the car to verify the car. But, the engine stalling was compatible with fuel delivery starvation. The fuel tank was full. The starter spin and electric system was functional, so electric voltage was not an Issue. No check engine light on, no alerts messages, nothing. Just suddenly engine power loose, stalling and the engine stop. Check engine light on after a lot of cranking. Never fire back.

On Friday, September 15, 2023 3:00pm, I had a “horrible” experience with my Lexus this weekend and sudden unintended acceleration. I was sitting at a red light, with my foot on the brake. Without warning the engine began to rev, the tires squealed and the car lurched forward. I through the car into park & turned of the car as quickly as I could react and “thank god” no one was injured and there was no accident. I was in the car with my wife and she reminded me she had a similar experience a month ago. I didn’t know what to think when she told me. Until I experienced it myself I didn’t really understand how dangerous this problem Is. She experience this sudden unintended acceleration when the car was in park after she got in the car and started it. I’ve read of this sudden unintended acceleration but never experienced it until this weekend. It was exactly this. . An unintended, unexpected, uncontrolled acceleration of a vehicle, accompanied by an apparent loss of braking effectiveness. This was not driver error. It Is some kind of mechanical, software problem, electrical problem, or some combination of these factors. There was no driver error. This Is not an Issue with the floor mats. I drove the car home into the garage. I took it to the dealership the first available appointment on Monday. I had another incident on Wednesday, August 30, 2023. I was at the gym. My wife went to move my car as my parking time limit in la jolla had expired. She experience sudden unintended acceleration when the car was in park after she got in the car and started it. The car had high engine revs and the car lurched forward while in park. The Lexus dealership kept the car for a week. Mileage 67,249 vehicle report - 802177 reviewed and analyzed by Lexus factory. No recommended repairs are needed or required at this time. I opened tas case 21326202801. I contacted Lexus product liability team case # 23092500299 but, no one from corporate will look at the car. This Is happening on the Lexus Is250 as while as the 350 the loose bolts could cause the vvt gear housing and sprocket to separate and result in the engine stopping while the vehicle Is being driven, increasing the risk of a crash. Toyota Is recalling certain model year 2007-2011 Lexus gs350 vehicles manufactured June 19, 2006, through July 12, 2011; and model year 2006-2011 Lexus Is350 vehicles manufactured may 27, 2005, through July 13, 2011; and model year 2010-2011 Lexus Is350c vehicles manufactured November 25, 2009, through July 19, 2011. These vehicles, equipped with the 2gr-fse engine, use bolts to secure the housing and sprocket of the variable-valve timing (vvt) system gear assembly. These bolts could become loose due to abnormal impacts generated within the gear assembly immediately after a cold start-up.

Vehicle: 2008 Lexus Is350 Issue: excessive oil consumption and fuel/exhaust odor I am experiencing what I believe Is excessive oil consumption with my 2008 Lexus Is350. I’ve had to regularly add oil between scheduled oil changes, and I’ve noticed that the oil level Is frequently low with no external leaks visible. I’m concerned that this may indicate a known Issue with piston rings or internal engine components. In addition to the oil Issue, I have recently started smelling strong gas or exhaust fumes while the engine Is running, especially at idle or when the car Is warm. I am worried that this may be related to catalytic converter damage caused by prolonged oil burning. I believe this may pose both a safety risk and an environmental concern, especially if the catalytic converter Is compromised. I have not yet received any recall notices or service bulletins related to this Issue, but I am aware that similar Toyota and Lexus models have had oil consumption problems tied to engine design.

While driving home in the freeway, I felt my car shake then a sudden loss of power. Then my cel started blinking and my vsc lit. Got a code for engine misfire(p0302). Is250 has a lot of cases on engine misfires because of excessive carbon build up because of how the engine Is designed. My car only has 108,000miles. Lexus released a customer support program for this problem but it already expired. They only gave 9 years from date of purchase for it to be eligible for the free fix. It means they are aware of the problem but my 2010 car just missed that window but I am having the same problem many Is250 owners have. It Is really unsafe when you’re driving in the freeway then it suddenly loses power. Hopefully this problem gets resolved by Lexus soon.

While driving there was no warning lamps messages or other symptoms to any problems. I went to slow down so I could turn around because I missed my stop. The brakes started feeling less pressure I looked up and there was black smoke coming from under the hood then I saw flames. Then the car blew up.

Camshaft problem. Loud rattle at start up bad ticking. Transmission fluid needs to be changed and serviced at a schedule time. Bad performance all together with only 119,000 miles. I have now rebuilt the motor paying $3000 to fix the cams and now have to repair the transmission.

The car Is consumed alot of oil. I've been using 5w30 motor oil. 2/6/2022 had my oil changed, 2/8/2022 oil light came on saying low oil level.

While stopped at a stop light vehicle rpm went very high. It reached the red zone. Vehicle started moving forward (while still on drive and the brake pedal fully pressed). I immediately put the vehicle in park. Rpm continued to remain high. I removed my foot off the brake when the vehicle was in park. I turned the engine off, waited couple of seconds and turned it back on. At that point everything worked normally. Outside temperature was about 38 deg f. Car was not fully warmed up at the time. Floor mat had nothing to do with this incident. After restarting the engine it Is working fine without any adjustment to the floor mat. Incident could have resulted in major crash or injury. Luckily it happened when the vehicle was stopped at at red light. Putting the car in park and turning off the engine resolved the Issue. This Is a serious Issue on 2012 Is250. Check engine light Is not on. Vehicle will be taken to the Lexus dealer for checking. If the car was in drive, this kind of revving up of the engine would have caused serious accident. Also, if I had not put the car in park, it would have overcome the braking power and pushed the car to the intersection at red light. Engine rpm went way too high (in the red zone). This Is the first incident. This 2012 Lexus Is250 has 69364 miles.

The contact owns a 2007 Lexus Is350. The contact stated that he was informed that his vehicle was placed under NHTSA campaign number: 17v006000(airbags). The contact stated that once he was there, he was informed that there were several recalls on his vehicle(recalls unknown) and that repairs were performed on his intake cam gear, camshaft, cam panel, and other engine parts. The contact stated that once the vehicle was returned, the vehicle would shut off as the check engine and traction control warning lights would illuminate on the instrument panel. Power steering keeps going out and steering wheel making grinding noise. Almost crashed when lost steering on freeway. Car also makes noise while starting cold.

I went to start my vehicle and it started turning but never started. After a few tries it started and then completely went out every time. I haven't been able to use my vehicle for almost a month now. I got 3 different mechanics to look at it and they still weren't able to get it back working and I all they could tell me was it had something to do with the fuel pump and the high pressure pump.

Vehicle just turned over 100,000 miles. 6-2020 upon a morning start, the vehicle had trouble starting up almost as if it had fuel starvation. I cranked the vehicle up a few more times it was ok it turned on. Upon driving the vehicle had extremely unreliable acceleration , very had sputtering from and to stop lights this was from my commute to work. The vehicle had become unpredictable, some days it would act like that some days it wouldn't. This started to bother me as I rarely worry about situations unless they're dangerous. Late 6-2020 on my way home from work at about 5:00pm the vehichle started sputtering about 1 mile away from my home. As I crossed the intersection of taylor and railroad street. The vehicle died on me at the intersection. I had thought this was just the car with the acceleration problem. So I proceeded to turned it back on. After 10 minutes of cranking the vehicle I had drained the battery completely. Car Is stranded, traffic was a huge build up behind me, vehicle ways well over 3000lbs so I attempted to quick charge the battery, after 10 minutes I had already bystanders help me push the vehicle to the side, due to the massive build up of traffic. 7-2020 after 2 seperate diagnostics I had replaced the fuel injector pump and a cold start valve at the engine. Car was running ok until mid 7-2020 when it began having the same exact Issues again. As this was my only vehicle at the moment I had no other choice but to use it one week later after going to my mothers house from work. The vehicle decided to shut off on me completely this time on the road at 35 mph zone. Car seemed to starve of fuel and I had to quickly react since the car was in motion and luckily pullover. Fortunately it was a light day of traffic at the road of cook st. Thats when I had enough, I am complaining because this vehicle Is extremely unsafe and its an Issue I can't solve!.

Valley plate leak.

Fuel Is not delivered to firing chamber due to failure of fuel pressure sensor. This will cause engine to shut off when on the road. No obd-ii code Is present since the failure of the fuel pressure sensor will put the car in protected mode, no code can be read. When engine Is shut off, it will have no power to steering or brake system, put driver in a very dangerous situation. I was lucky enough to find out after arriving home. The problem appeared the next morning.

Ever since I had this car, I always had the constant problem of a weird engine smell of rotten eggs, it overheats out of nowhere constantly after multiple repairs and maintenance paid out of pocket. It would shut off while driving anywhere. These are just some of the receipts.

Why Is there a recall for the Is350 vvt cam gears and not the Is250 ???.

Valley plate leak. The valley plate leaks are notorious on this vehicle. There have been several forums about it.

The coolant valley plate seal on many 2008-2014 Lexus Is f models fail prematurely causing loss of coolant and cause damage. I was changing the oil on my 2010 Is f when I noticed the pink coolant all over my transmission and I have to top my coolant off weekly so I don't damage my vehicle. Lexus has many cases of this documented but wont say that its an Issue.

I took my car to the local dealer for the carbon buildup recall in the motor. They rebuilt parts of the internal motor. After they rebuilt the motor for carbon build up, my engine light started to light up for bad catalytic converter. I told them that the light never showed up before and could've went bad from all of the miles of carbon build up that damaged the catalytic converter. They couldn't repair the catalytic converter because I was out of the warranty period.

Airbag recall in incomplete and engine Is knocking.

Hi ! so I have 2006 Is250 with carbon buildup , I was driving find I stop at a stop light car turn off out of nowhere I turn off power then try to restart. I had a hard time trying to start the car . You have to push gas pandel . . I told to my car to glendale Lexus , they told me that I have carbon buildup so somehow I end up paying 800 for major tune up.

Upon starting vehicle, engine loudly rattles for aprox. One second as if something Is loose. This instance Is directly in line with Lexus TSB "l-sb-0155-08" (engine - brief engine knock/rattle on cold start up). Further investigation shows this Is a major concern as this involves a faulty camshaft assembly.

Vehicle randomly shakes, intermittently runs rough while braking. Dealer could not diagnose Issue 3 times until recent check found engine pistons and valve springs need to be replaced. Lexus agreed to accommodate service and labor costs but parts are back ordered requiring a week or two wait time for repair.

Coasting into a parking spot , my foot not on the gas , the car took off. I had to slam my foot on the brake and with the help of the parking spot stopper the car stopped. The car felt like it was going to go over the stopper.
