Tl-the contact owns a 2006 Lexus Is-350. The contact stated that while driving at 50 mph without warning the vehicle lost engine power and stalled. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The contact was informed that the bolt used to secure the housing and sprocket of the variable valve timing system failed. The vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 13v395000 (engine). The contact stated that the vehicle was towed to the dealer for repair for the recall notification. The contact was informed that the dealer would repair the recall repair however, any damage caused to the engine from the failure would not be covered under the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 135,000. Ah.
