I have a Lexus LS 460l and have received a safety recall notice from Lexus regarding valve spring replacement. The dealer cannot take care of it until 1/24/11. I called the Lexus hotline for assurance that there are no safety issues with the car between now and then and they said they could not give me that assurance. I am supposed to drive to charlotte, nc next week from washington, DC and I asked them if I'd be ok in the car. Again, they said they could not provide assurances. So I guess I have a car that they cannot tell me can be safely used until after 1/24/11. What can the us government do to help or am I just out of luck?.
Continuous acceleration with foot off accelerator pedal currently as of 3/21/10. Vehicle will not slow down with foot off accelerator maintains speeds of 20-24 mph with foot off the accelerator. Slowing down the vehicle will lurch from 2nd to 1st gear while trying to come to complete stop followed by a clunk from transmission. Transmission will downshift while coasting then rpm's will jump giving a slight acceleration feel and continue at speeds of 20+mph until brakes are applied. Experiencing harsh and sloppy shifting from transmission. Loses power and will not kick down or will finally kick down and not let go of gears then will up shift and the rpm's will spike. Dealer has lubed drive train and flashed transmission in attempts to correct the problem. Only occurs while a/c compressor is on. Dealer at a loss for a fix, requested I contact Lexus to open a case. Contacted Lexus, no response. Factory carpet mats are clipped in place, nothing obstructing accelerator pedal.
