The contract owns a 2007 Lexus Rx350. The contact stated that while driving the vehicle, there was a fuel odor detected in the cabin of the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to several independent mechanics and dealers. The vehicle was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that a plastic box above the muffler was melted from the heat of the muffler, causing fuel to leak onto the muffler. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not drivable as the fuel source was above the muffler and the vehicle could catch on fire. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure had been occurring intermittently since purchasing the vehicle in 2007. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure however, no case was opened. The failure mileage was unknown.
