2 Engine problem of the 1999 Lexus RX300

Failure Date: 04/15/2010

While driving on a 2 lane mountain road the engine on my 1999 Lexus RX 300 started knocking loudly and failed. I was able to swing into a pull out and did not get hit. This failure is due to sledge build up. I am a second owner of the vehicle and did not receive notice from Toyota about replacing a defective engine . I purchased vehicle in 03 had it in for repairs in 07 the dealership failed to inform me of the lawsuit and correct the engine at that time. Now this incident in 2010. I could have lost my life if I were to have been hit on this mountain road that sits on the cliff at 5,500 feet.

5 Engine problem of the 2001 Lexus RX300

Failure Date: 04/04/2007

I own a 2001 Lexus Rx300 and the transmission went out but Lexus refused to cover it with my 100. 000 warranty. They were very racist and wrong. They also refused to take care of the engine repairs. I will never buy another one in my life from such racist pigs!!.

6 Engine problem of the 2003 Lexus RX300

Failure Date: 12/21/2005

While traveling out to denver from omaha, received low oil pressure light on my 2003 Lexus Rx300. Pulled over immediately, had car towed to Lexus dealership. They immediately knew what to look for and say. . The car has been misused, (no oil changes) and oil gelling was result. Within minutes they said the engine was shot and would require new engine. They showed me the sludge which was only found on one cylinder head, by the oil return line. Quantity was about one handful and as stated, only near the return line, remainder of head clean. I had changed oil night before trip. They will not honor power train warranty, since I cannot prove oil was changed every 7500 miles. Car has 50,000, and I purchased car from individual who stated he always maintained car but cannot prove with receipts. Called customer satisfaction line who said unless I prove the original owner had oil changed they would not honor. Dealership had stated today that only one head is damaged, the other is fine. Short block will require replacement as well. If it was an oil change issue wouldn't the sludge be in both heads and why was the sludge only found in one small section of head, by oil return line. If this were a lack of maintenance, sludge should be everywhere (both heads) not just one area. . . Lexus stated it is my fault and they do not have a design issue with this v-6 although I have never seen oil gel like this. . . Regardless of maintenance history. Lexus reputation is big joke if their engines can't make it 50,000 miles.

7 Engine problem of the 2000 Lexus RX300

Failure Date: 07/26/2003

Traveling 60 mph on merit pky connecticut, the fluid leaked out of a blown gasket in the transfer box to the rear wheel drive. The rear wheels locked up and car skidded 150 ft and spun. A miracle no cars or barriers were hit. Mother suffered nerve damage from being twisted. Had car towed directly to dealer. The dealer - Lexus of englewood NJ, made an attempt to pay off lease and lease a new car but did not follow through with their offer. They treated us horribly!!! they gave us no information on what happened to the truck and through a mired of lies and nasty phone calls from them, we have decided to buy a mercedes ml350. I will never drive a Lexus again and am currently proceeding with litigation against Lexus and Lexus of englewood NJ. I've searched the internet for similar problems but found none. This incident, I believe was an original defect or caused by the incompetence of the service department of Lexus of englewood. The service manager john lomando has deceived, lied and been down right nasty to us. The truck was serviced on time every service with Lexus of englewood.

8 Engine problem of the 1999 Lexus RX300

Failure Date: 03/24/2002

I own 1999 Lexus Rx300, since February of the last year, I had numerous problems with the car's engine (it has sludge), transmission, emission system, and over use of gas per mile. First problem started during the first month of my ownership and since that time the vehicle has spent weeks in auto repair shops. Lexus dealer and others charged me lavish fees but never fixed the problems and Lexus dealers even never admitted that serious problems existed.

9 Engine problem of the 1999 Lexus RX300

Failure Date: 03/10/2000

I want you to know during this time of Toyota problems and coverup, that we leased new a 1999 Lexus Rx300, it was maintained at meade Lexus according to plan and my wife was driving on a freeway and the engine suddenly seized and the car quit working. The car had my two infant children in it at the time and she was stuck near the exit ramp with vehicles/trucks/semis bearing down on her. She and the children were scared and nearly collided with at its sudden location to stop. The car was towed to the Lexus dealer and discovered sludge had ruined the motor. They would not repair it and towed the vehicle to our garage where it sat as I made payments on it. I took Lexus to arbitration with my maintenance receipts and lost as the arbitrator said I may have abused the vehicle after the Toyota rep showed a sample of the sludge. The vehicle still sat in the garage and months later Lexus admitted fault with the oil passages on the motor and replaced the engine just in time for me to return it off lease. I agree they finally repaired it 5-6 months later, but this failure nearly cost my families life and was ignored by Lexus. . Read more...
