38 Power Train problem of the 2003 Lexus RX300

Failure Date: 05/15/2011

The vehicle suddenly lost transmission on the road and was rolling freely. The gears does not work anymore and the vehicle rolls as if its in neutral. When search the internet I looked at lot of the customers complaining about exact same thing, about this vehicle having transmission issues especially for Rx300. No wonder Toyota has this many recalls and surprised that their premium brand has the same issues with safety. I am glad that this did not happen on a highway.

39 Power Train problem of the 2001 Lexus RX300

Failure Date: 05/01/2011

I drove this car from school to home as usual. The transmission is gone suddenly that I had no time to prepare, the car was losing control and driving into an elementary school. The car almost hit an old lady with a small girl. Fortunately, I finally got control of this car and we were all safe. This generation of Lexus Rx300 has serious transmission problem, many cases can be found online. I would highly suggest the manufacturer recall those cars and carefully examine the problem, in order to avoid such incident happen again. Those cars are becoming older, many more problems will be manifest.

40 Power Train problem of the 2000 Lexus RX300

Failure Date: 01/20/2011

I purchased a vehicle at bond auto sales on 12/24/2010. After a few days, I called the dealership to let them know that truck was not running correctly. It was running in 3rd gear idling high. I was told that there was nothing they could do, I called back a few days later, the car would turn off , it was also eating up oil, I was told to bring in the truck so that their mechanic could look at it, and he test drove the truck and said there was nothing wrong. The salesman said that he would speak to his manager and not to take it to another mechanic. They took my phone number and my husbands phone number, we never got a call back. My husband and I took the truck to the dealership and spoke to the manager directly. I asked if they could look at the truck because I felt the problem was getting worst and it may be the transmission, they decided to take a look at the car. The manager called me to tell me that the transmission was bad, it would cost $1500. 00 to repair. He wanted me to bring in $500. 00 that same day, and I had not even had the car for 30 days. I asked if they could put me into another car because I really did not have the money. I gave them $4000. 00 cash, when I initiated this deal, I did not have $500. 00. They refused to work with me at all, I had my first car payment due January 29, 2011, and had no guarantees that the truck would be alright. The only choice that I had was to voluntarily give the car back, which I did, the same day January 20, 2011. I asked for something with the company letter head stating that I had returned the truck, and they refused. All I got was a small receipt with their logo, my info, date and it does say voluntary return 01/20/2011. I keep getting bills saying that my car pyt. Is late, even though they have the truck. Now they are going to report to the credit as a repo, and that is not fair to me. I gave the car back 1/20/11.

41 Power Train problem of the 2002 Lexus RX300

Failure Date: 07/25/2010

2002 Lexus Rx300 85000 miles the steel lines running to the transmission oil cooler started to leak. Upon inspection they were found to be rusted through. The line must be in a bad place and receive road spray.

42 Power Train problem of the 2001 Lexus RX300

Failure Date: 02/22/2010

Ok I bought a Lexus Rx300 1/08/10 was constricted in driving it due to the snow storms hitting the northeast. I got the car with 128,000 miles on it and now it has 129,095. I go to drive to school today and while on a back highway doing 45-50 mph my car looses power and I have to stop in heavy traffic and push it off. I go to try and move the car and shift gears and it doesn't move. I called the tow truck and got a tow home and call the dealership they tell me to basically go eff' myself. I suspect it is the transmission and will find out tomorrow because I called Lexus and they told me to go to a dealer and they will call me in 1-2 business day. If I was on the highway doing speeds excess 50 with my son in the car the outcome could have been very different I hope you can help. I had the car for 45 days. . . .

43 Power Train problem of the 1999 Lexus RX300

Failure Date: 09/15/2009

Accelerator entrapment in aftermarket floor pad of a Lexus RX 300 last September. (I don't know what kind of floor pad, I bought it in 1999 and installed it then, it is one of the thick ones that is good a holding snow and water. ) I figured out that the floor pad was the problem while the engine was revving to 90 mph and the brakes would not stop the car. Lexus could find nothing wrong but said nothing to me about this being a problem in Toyota products. No crash and no injury since I figured it out; the floor mat felt thick to my foot so I yanked it out from under the pedals. Just really scary. . . . Specifically, I came out of a side street on to a main road and needed to get ahead of traffic so I stomped in the accelerator pretty hard- not my typical driving style- and then the accelerator stuck, the car revving and going to 90- 100 mph. I stood on the brakes but it would not stop. I tried to throw it into park ( but thankfully the car wouldn't let me- I was thinking about trying to use the parking brake to stop it, but it doesn't have a hand brake so that's why I was so stupid and tried to throw it in park. The noise from that was so horrifying I did not put it in neutral). Then I felt the lumpy floor mat and yanked it out from underneath the pedals. It was late at night and there were no cars on the road so I had a mile of clear road to work this out. Car had about 275,000 miles on it. Built in July 1998, jt6h10u7x0032830 is serial I can't give you the exact date because I can't find the service receipt- sorry!.

44 Power Train problem of the 1999 Lexus RX300

Failure Date: 05/24/2005

The manifold system on my 1999 Lexus Rx300 had to be replaced at only 68,320 miles which cost well over $1,000. Usually the manifold system on a car is not replaced. Lexus should be repsonsible for this problem. Please look into this problem for us. I also had the jellying problems with the engine. Yes, I do all the required only changes and etc.

45 Power Train problem of the 2001 Lexus RX300

Failure Date: 12/18/2003

2000 Lexus RX 300 (this is a Toyota camry engine in a Lexus body) car transmission would not change into high gears 3 & 4 for highway driving, preventing acceleration. Lexus of norwood, MA replaced the entire transmission under warranty. 5,000 miles later the new transmission was doing the same thing, after a week they finally gave it back to and said it was repaired but not what they had to fix and were very sketchy, it was still under warranty. Finally the repair technician told in low tones so not to be heard that it was computer software problem and that;s why they would not tell me. So they replaced an entire transmission at 48000 miles incorrectly when all they had to do was do a software bug fix. I think this is significant because the computer prevented acceleration but could probably also cause unintended acceleration. They do not have control of their software running these engines and don't want to admit because they don't know how to fix it.

46 Power Train problem of the 2001 Lexus RX300

Failure Date: 03/28/2003

The vehicle lurched forward after the engine was turned off, and the keys were removed from the ignition, which caused an accident.
