The contact owns a 2006 Lexus RX 330. The contact stated that the vehicle lunged forward when the cruise control was activated at approximately 75 mph. The failure occurred more frequent while driving on an incline. The vehicle had not been inspected or repaired at the time of the complaint. The manufacturer was not notified. I have a 2006 Lexus Rx330 that I'm afraid to use the cruise control on any surface that is not flat and dry. When I come up to a small incline and the speed goes below my cruise speed it all of the sudden picks up speed real quick. It's like if I had just stomped on the gas peddle all the way to the floor. Once speed cruise speed is attained it goes back to normal. I have never had a car do this. At times it's scary, that is why I stopped using this feature. This has happened many, many times. The date I put in is the last time I used the cruise control on that vehicle.

Problem with sudden acceleration with 2006 Lexus Rx330. I had cruise control set at 65mph with my foot off pedal and then the vehicle suddenly accelerated to 90 and going faster in a split second. I hit the brakes and luckily the vehicle slowed down. My whole family was in the car and were all terrified. I called the dealer, Lexus of westminster, next day to report the problem. The service technician simply ignored my claim and indifferently told me that he never heard of such problem and bring my car if it happens again in the future. He did not offer to check it out and I stopped using cruise control of that vehicle. It was a lease and car was returned last year. When I heard this news about acceleration problem with Toyota vehicle recently, I got concerned about safety of current owner of the vehicle whoever it may be.

The cruise control would not release. The condition caused the vehicle to side swipe the right rear tire of a truck and continued on for two miles before the cruise control disengaged itself. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The dealer called in a manufacturer rep. The rep informed the dealer that nothing could be found.
