Takata recall - my air bag never deployed on impact. As I was braking to park outside my garage door, the car suddenly accelerated extremely fast. My Lexus went through the garage door and I was braking but my SUV didn't stop until it hit things in the garage that stopped me. I even plowed into a piece of equipment that went out the back wall of the garage.

Driver was pulling into a parking spot, just rolling to a stop with her foot on the brake. The car suddenly accelerated into a brick wall and a tree. The front bumper of the car was smashed and the frame was bent. Air bag did not deploy as it should have. Owner contacted Lexus legal department the next day and filed a claim. 16 days later a third party investigator recovered the data from the event data recorder. It has been 50 days since the claim was filed and we got a letter today from Toyota stating "no defects were identified!" this is totally unacceptable. Toyota settled a 1. 1 billion dollar class action law suit regarding "unintended acceleration" cases. Obviously there is a big problem. We will be following up with legal representation. In the mean time the car sits in the garage, while we make payments on a car that is totally unsafe to drive!.
My 2016 Lexus 350 RX was in the garage. I needed to move the car forward so I put it in drive. As soon as I released the brake, the car shot forward with great speed (unintended acceleration). The car crashed into some bicycles and shelves as I applied the brakes to stop the vehicle. I immediately called Lexus of tampa bay and they came out to pick it up. That was almost 8 weeks and nothing has been resolved.

Unintended acceleration - the vehicle suddenly accelerated in stop & go rush-hour city traffic striking several cars (6 cars in total) before the vehicle was stopped by striking the oakland police dept building.
On November 3, 2015, Lexus Rx350 (2011) came to a complete stop at a parking lot. When the gear was about to be put in to parking, the vehicle suddenly accelerated itself and moved approximately 40 ft forward. The car sprang out going over a cement parking block, iron fence that was dividing one building's parking lot to another, and fell about 5 ft below since the parking lot was in higher level than other building's parking lot. The vehicle kept moving even after falling from the higher ground and came to a stop after hitting a tree.

First part of complain just in case it did not go thru the first time. Dear sirs, I'm writing to you on behalf of the owner of this vehicle. They have contracted me as a vehicle accident reconstructionist in puerto rico. I need to know if you have made any inquiries in the fuel delivery and propulsion system. My concern is that this Toyota, Lexus and Honda vehicles that I know of so far, are having some kind of sudden acceleration issues and the computer does not catch the problem. This acceleration surges that I have found out about, all have occurred around high electricity areas. So far that I know off, three of these surges have occurred next to the electrical plant center in palo seco puerto rico and one caused two deaths. The other one is the one I'm representing which occurred in their home twice. The first time was about a month before this accident but the driver had the chance to control the vehicle and nothing happened. At that time the vehicle was taken to the dealer for a checkup and nothing strange showed on their system. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

While pulling into driveway, my wife took her foot off accelerator and car suddenly accelerated and ran into wall of house damaging front of car and causing damage to house and contents.
I experienced a sudden unintended acceleration (sua) in the parking lot of my apartment on March 3rd, 2012. It was a sunny day, and the road condition was good. My wife was driving Lexus RX 350 2011 model (mileage: 2124miles). My daughter and I were sitting on the back seats. She was slowing down the vehicle for parking and about to finalize the parking by going forward by about 3 feet. At that time, the vehicle abruptly accelerated with the sound of revving up the engine. The car ran over a parking block and went on curb stones. By help of the brake override system equipped after the recent Toyota's recalls, she could stop the vehicle quickly because her foot was already on the brake pedal. We all were surprised at this rare situation, but fortunately there were no accidents or injuries. We reported this experience to a close Lexus dealership. Two Lexus engineers inspected the vehicle, including 10-mile test driving. However, they could not find any mechanical problems. They could not re-enact the same situation, neither. At this inspection, they did not check out the event data recorder, as well as any electronic systems like etcs. According to the inspection result, Lexus directed me to keep driving this vehicle with my own risk. This is not related to the floor mat interference problem that led to the massive recall in 2009. So, I think the current Lexus users, as well as potential consumers, should be aware of the possibility that they can experience the similar unintended acceleration while driving or parking.
On oct 5, 2011 at 7:45 am , I was traveling on a one lane road each way in rural connecticut ( 35 mph zone). I decided to pass a car that was traveling well below the speed limit when my Lexus Rx350 lurched forward suddenly and then had a huge burst of accelerating speed. I applied my foot to the brakes and the car slowed very slightly, but started to buck a little and then once again felt like it kicked into a higher gear. My dashboard was flashing " brake failure" as I looked down and saw that my foot was firmly planted down on the brakes. Fortunately, there were few cars on the road and only once did I have to pass a car on a blind curve hoping no one was approaching from the other way, so as to avoid ramming a car in front of me. I had resolved in my mind that I was going to crash, and was trying to find a place to take the car off the road while trying to minimize injury to me. I stopped looking at my speed, but it was clearly in excess of 60 mph in a 35 mph zone. I was lucky that day, since there were few cars on the road and the stretch of road I was on was fairly straight. I drove this way for about 1. 5 miles when it then occurred to me to shift the car into neutral. Once I did this the car eventually reduced speed to about 5-10 mph. I threw the car into park and jumped out of the vehicle, which at this point was engulfed in smoke from the failed brakes. Lexus blamed the incident on a stuck accelerator pad, although they admitted when the car came to their shop the pad was not stuck. I know factually that the pad was not stuck, since I looked down at my feet during the episode and saw my foot on the brake, and the accelerator pad in its normal position. This was clearly an incident of sudden acceleration. Lexus allowed me to break my lease and lease a 2012, which now has a brake override system (as of 2011 models) .
On 7/1/2011 at 10. 45pm. I was driving my Lexus 2010 Rx350 eastbound on the lie service road in glen cove NY. I was travelling at 35 to 45 mph, when suddenly my "brake malfunction light" started flashing on my dashboard. I instinctively tapped the brake, and the brakes did not respond. Then the car had unintended acceleration,I then pressed on the brakes with all my might, to stop this vehicle careering off the road. With gods grace I was able to stop the car by downshifting gears. This is the first time I have experienced this life threatening problem. So far Lexus have discredited this experience, by claiming the mat was stuck under the accelerator and or brake. I strongly and vehemently disagree with their evaluation and analysis. I intend to take this matter further with Lexus.
In a 2010 Lexus RX 350 my grandmother was a passenger in which the vehicle was at a stop waiting for an apartment complex secuirty gate to open. The car suddenly accelerated to speeds above 60 mph. The vehicle crashed through two apartment complex security gates, went airborne over a busy street and came to rest against the side of a building. To our horror, my grandmother perished in the accident. We are awaiting the information from the black box. I hesitate so say too much because we are still in the decision making process of how/if to proceed regarding litigation. Do not purchase, drive or ride in one of these vehicles.
The contact owns a 2010 Lexus Rx350. While driving 5 mph, the vehicle suddenly accelerated and crashed into two other vehicle which caused a chain reaction. There were no injuries. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer for body repairs. The contact called the manufacturer who stated that they would send an investigator to inspect the vehicle. The vehicle had not been inspected. The failure mileage was approximately 7,000.
The contact owns a 2009 Lexus RX 350. The contact was driving at a low speed while driving into a parking space, when the vehicle suddenly accelerated and drove over the curb. She attempted to use the brakes which did not work at first to stop the vehicle. She then depressed the brake pedal with extreme force and shifted into park which stopped the vehicle before it could collide with a plate glass window. The vehicle previously had slight acceleration problems but when speaking to the dealer in January, the dealer stated that there was nothing wrong with it. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealership where the vehicle was at the time of the complaint. The dealer stated that the manufacturer would send a representative out to inspect the vehicle. The current and failure mileages were approximately 32,000-bk.
On 7/29/2010 my 2010 Lexus RX 350 experienced unintended exhilaration causing a collision with a parking lot collision safety post (metal pipe filled with concrete) causing extensive frontal damage of the vehicle. The incident occurred at approximately 1245 on a clear day dry pavement with no other vehicles in the parking lot near the scene of the collision. The incident occurred when I was pulling into the a parking spot making right hand turn. As I was entering the parking spot at approximately 1/2 way I tapped the accelerator pedal to complete the parking maneuver and that is when the car lunged forward with a speed indicative of hard acceleration colliding with the post before I could take any action to slow or stop the vehicle. The acceleration detailed above has happened once before when my husband was driving the vehicle and experienced sudden acceleration. We were both puzzled by the event but decided to dismiss it since it occurred during the nation wide media blitz about Toyota vehicles unintended acceleration, and really did not want to buy in into mass hysteria. Hind sight being 20/20 maybe we should have.
Model year 2010 Lexus RX 350 had a sudden acceleration problem while trying to park in a parking lot parking place in edmond oklahoma. The car surged forward running over the curb and required swerving to the right onto a grass median between the parking lot and busy fast moving street. The car then traveled approximately 100 feet at an uncontrollable speed before swerving back into the parking lot where the vehicle then stopped. The car is only three months old and has 2040 miles. The Lexus dealer says there is no history of sudden acceleration issues with this year and model car. The car is now at the dealership awaiting 7- 14 days for a Lexus factory specialist to examine the car. This sudden acceleration issue is not mere parts or inconvenience issue. This was a near death experience and a possible life or death issue for other 2010 Lexus RX 350 owners.
I was driving my 2009 Lexus RX 350 at about 25 miles per hour when it suddenly rapidly accelerated. Fortunately there was nothing/no car immediately in front of me. I pressed down on the brakes and the car responded by slowing down. I have reported the incident to Lexus and will have the dealer inspect the car as soon as possible. (they gave me an appointment in 2 days. ).
The contact owns a 2010 Lexus Rx350. The contact stated that when accelerating from a stopped or slowed position, the vehicle would change gears at random. This failure occurred numerous times. On the latest occasion, upon accelerating from a slowed position, the vehicle suddenly accelerated. The contact applied pressure to the brakes to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership where it was located at the time of the complaint; the dealer had been unable to diagnose the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 7,000. The current mileage was approximately 11,000.
My car suddenly accelerated as I was parking and hit a concrete wall. I was almost in the space and going 1mph aprox. 3 or 4 feet from the wall. They said I stepped on the wrong pedal to cause it. I did not, but lost my confidence and trust in my driving. The model car is a 2010 Lexus model Rx350. Not on the list of recalls. The damage was in excess of $14,000. My insurance paid all but the deductible. I still do not believe that I did what they say and do not trust Lexus to tell me the truth of the matter at this time. The car went straight to the dealership for repairs.
2007lexus 350 RX -at least 3 times it has engaged in sudden acceleration. The dealer told me they could find nothing wrong. Now I find that it is a common occurrence. Please register my name to those having had safety problems. There has been no accident (yet)!.
As I put the vehicle in reverse, it rapidly and suddenly accelerated out of control and hit a light post. Trying to regain control, I put on the brake and shifted to drive, where it suddenly and very rapidly sped forward and hit a fence before I could stop the vehicle. When this occurred, the couple I was dining with heard the car backfire twice which caught their attention. I could not hear the backfire inside of the vehicle. The acceleration was extremely rapid and dangerous. The vehicle did this on its own. This is not a case of where I accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the brake. In this particular situation, no one was hurt, and the vehicle only has minor scratches. However, as you might surmise, this could have been a potentially dangerous and deadly situation had someone been in the path of the car. Vehicle was brought to westside Lexus to check on 5. 13. 2008. They were unable to identify the problem and said the vehicle was safe to drive.
My 2007 Lexus RX 350 will occasionally slow down and feel as if it is going to shut off when I press the gas. It will then suddenly accelerate and jolt causing me to depress the brakes in order to slow down. I have advised Lexus of the problem and must bring it in for service. This has been happening since I purchased the car in 2008.
Random acceleration! my RX 350 Lexus was returned to the dealer for repair less than a month after I purchased it for random acceleration. I explained that although I am not accelerating my vehicle accelerates rapidly and lunges forward. I have to take my foot of the gas immediately and apply the brake. Sometimes it happens 3/4 times a day and sometimes not for a week, thus the term random. I have brought it in to park place Lexus and called numerous times. They drive it a few miles and tell me nothing is wrong. I even pleaded with the owner of park place, chris brunner to keep my car and drive it until he experienced the random acceleration, he refused and told me to call Lexus headquarters. I did call and was on hold for 38 minutes. Lauren shields of Lexus also told me nothing could be done. I think mr. Al smith, the vp of customer satisfaction should monitor how good customers and repeat buyers with serious vehicle problems are handled. I am now at 52,000 miles and past warranty, (I think this was their plan- to dance around the problem until my warranty ran out) I worry if I will be able to stop my vehicle the next time this happens. The random acceleration started immediately after purchase and it was prior to any recalls, any tv news casts or newspaper articles. We have 2 highlanders, and this is my 4th Lexus, we are good customers and nothing has been done. I think the random acceleration is a problem for many more vehicles than they have recalled!.
