1 Cruise Control problem of the 2019 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 08/19/2019

Tl the contact owns a 2019 Lexus Rx350. While driving with the adaptive cruise control activated and set at 72 mph, the driver reduced the speed to approximately 60 mph when switching lanes. After releasing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle continued to accelerate past the set cruise control speed of 72 mph and continued to accelerate to approximately 80 mph. After deactivating the cruise control feature, the vehicle continued to accelerate and the rpms increased before the speed eventually was reduced. The cause of the failure was not determined. Lexus escondido (1205 auto park way, escondido, CA) and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. Prior to the failure, the vehicle hesitated while accelerating and was serviced. The same Lexus dealer reprogrammed/flashed the transmission, but the failures continued. The failure mileage was 2,800.

2 Cruise Control problem of the 2016 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 02/24/2017

When using all of lane keep assist, lane center, and cruise control, the vehicle steers sharply to the right and will pull out of the existing lane into the lane to the right. Most noticeable at speeds above 40mph. Problem has happened since the vehicle was new, but seems more pronounced because I do more highway driving now with cruise control. Dealer and factory reps consider this behavior normal, yet a loaner car of the same model did not exhibit this symptom.

3 Cruise Control problem of the 2015 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 06/21/2016

Dynamic speed control randomly (twice) has lost settings & control. Setting it at 60, car increased speed to 85, and ignored car in front of me, almost causing a crash. Lexus has not followed up with me on this. Voice recognition often functions incorrectly resulting in distracted driving, and has almost resulted in me driving out of my lane or off the road several times. Example: ask it for directions to palo alto medical foundation: result; gives me a list of south american restaurants. Contacted Lexus about this. Only response - take it to a dealer. I have an appt with one July 11. No documentation available. Self repair attempts: disconnected the car battery for 30 seconds to reset the system and reprogrammed all settings available. Result: no change. Summary: with regard to the cruise control; someone could get killed from this!.

4 Cruise Control problem of the 2013 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 11/19/2012

I was driving on I-59 north with wife as passenger with radar cruise control set at 70 mph approaching departure exit. I tapped the brake pedal to release the cc and it did not release. Thinking I had not tapped it hard enough, I made the turn and tapped the brake pedal harder. The cc did not release. I applied the brakes with full force. The engine raced to satisfy the cc and the speed was 69 mph going into the exit. My focus was steering the vehicle to avoid objects and traffic. We crashed across a four lane concrete curbed boulevard and into a chain-link fence. I steered down a frontage road and brought the vehicle to a stop. This was a 30 second + event. The black box captured 9. 5 seconds of information. Lexus downloaded the black box and I requested a copy of the information which they did furnish on a thumb drive. They immediately erased all evidence of the crash from the vehicle data recorder and proclaimed there were no problems with the vehicle. The thumb drive data clearly displays that the car was traveling 69 mph on the data recorder. It also shows that the cc dropped out during the crash. I received a letter from Toyota legal in torrance, CA, indicating that their review of the vehicle found nothing wrong with it and the case was closed. The body shop repairs were $16k plus the depreciated value of the vehicle is $11k. Nalley Lexus galleria, smyrna, GA, where the vehicle was purchased, defers all communications to Toyota. I have been a Toyota customer since 1990 and this has been my third Lexus RX. Bitter sweet end! mb.
