Electrical System Problems of Lexus RX350 - part 1

This vehicle is brand new, and I constantly have issues with it not recognizing the key fob. It will lock automatically with the keys inside and not unlock, even with the other set of keys. I have been locked out multiple times with the keys in my hands. The vehicle is on, with the keys outside in my hands, and it locks and cannot be unlocked. Using the valet key in the door does not work. The app says the vehicle is in motion and cannot be unlocked. It had to be towed to the dealership, and the problem could not be found. There are no warnings or anything on the dash.

I have already contacted the dealer and Lexus corporate. If you drive this car with polarized sunglasses all of your gauges disappear and you have no idea of anything with respect to the automobile such as speed or any of the other indications. I was told that they agree that this is a design defect but they will not do anything about it and if they do do something in the future then I should keep watching for a recall. I told them that being unable to wear sunglasses when you have sensitive eyes is unacceptable and not being able to see a single gauge including the heads up display is absolutely unacceptable. Their answer was basically too bad and.

My driver side window turns completely outward when I start my car. It also happens when I lock the door. I have to physically turn it back to the correct position before I can drive. I went to the Lexus dealership, and was told that it would cost me over $1200 to have it repaired. I am a disabled senior, and this is a financial hardship on me. By keep turning the mirror, I am afraid it might break. I don't know what is causing this to happen.

The cfei (certified fire & explosion investigator) fire lieutenant/investigator with the city of ft. Lauderdale's fire dept, who also responded to my 911 call, had pointed out and explained to me the intensity of flame, heat and burn pattern in the engine and stated that this was caused by a mechanical engine malfunction. What happened: I had just driven my 2012 Lexus Rx350 a short distance on the highway when I pulled into a 7-11 parking lot not far from the gas pumps and put the car in park. With the engine still running, I opened my drivers side window to talk to a friend when I immediately smelled something burning. I filed a report with Lexus the very next day and received a letter 3 weeks later. Their last paragraph says "we understand that you reported this to geico as well. If their investigation has revealed any evidence of product liability, we will gladly review that information. " I called out to him as he was walking from his vehicle towards my car and yelled out to him that something smelled like it was burning. � he then told me to release the hood because he noticed smoke coming from the engine. He slightly raised the hood, saw a flame, slammed the hood shut, then he yelled out to me "get out of the car now your engine is on fire". � I jumped out, called 911, then started taking photos with my phone while watching as my vehicle became engulfed in flames and smoke. � first I heard the tires blow out then I heard the windshield blow out. My friend saw the flames when he lifted the hood and said he observed that the fire was burning in the center of the motor at the fuel manifold. The fire dept arrived about 5-7 minutes later and proceeded to try to put out the fire. � the car is a total loss!.

After replacing battery, the gps, audio system, heat controls, (entire display is blank) the dealer said they don't know what happened. There are numerous identical complaints on-line having the same issue. .

Tl the contact owns a 2019 Lexus Rx350. When it rained, water entered the vehicle and caused the park assist system to malfunction. The instrument panel illuminated as if the vehicle was about to rear end the preceding vehicle and the "Lexus park assist not available" indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to Lexus of greenville (864-551-2359, located at 2660 laurens rd, greenville, SC 29607) where it was diagnosed that there was a design flaw. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and had twenty-four hours to call the contact back. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact traded in a 2018 model for the current vehicle due to the same failure. The failure mileage was 980.

Door lock assembly went bad in driver's side door. Door cannot be locked using door lock button and has to be locked manually. Door also does not lock using remote or keyless entry. Mechanic stated that he's seen a number of these problems.

The door lock accuator on the driver's side is inoperable. I have to manually lock the driver side door then open the passenger door and lean into the car and reach over to unlock the driver side door each time I need to open the door. Cost to repair is $600. 00 (parts & labor) I feel this is excessive as the vehicle is only 5 years old and has only 55,500 miles! parts dealer noted he keeps the part stocked on his shelf as it is frequently requested.

This car experienced an unintended acceleration at the top of my driveway while being put into park. The car took off and hit the center posts of the two car garage and only stopped because it was caught on the supports in the foundation. We had experienced this sudden unintended acceleration several times during the first year we own the car when we were getting onto the highway. We did report it when we brought the car in for a service, they were aware of the complaint but at that time there was no remedy for the computer slash transmission issue. I was parking the car at the top of the driveway, my foot was going on to the break and the car unintentionally accelerated and flew through the air into the center post of a 2 car garage. I luckily was not physically injured but was emotionally distraught. It took down both garage doors and the center pillar all of which had to be rebuilt and replaced.

First problem with electrical was when the navigation screen went completely blank while driving during broad daylight. Don't know the date of this incident. Thought it was a reboot by enform. Thought nothing about it. On 12/21/2017, check electric brake warning light came on when I started my car in the morning after it had been sitting all night. Took into the dealer. Dealer could not find any problem with it or any error codes indicating any problem. They reset the error light. On 4/23/2018, I stopped for a stop sign at about 12:30 pm, nothing happened when I tried to accelerate at which point I noticed I had no lights on anywhere on my car. It was dead. I was stuck in the middle of the road and was unable start it after a couple of tries. Called for emergency service, let Lexus dealer know my car was going to be towed to them, and sat for about 15 minutes when a gentleman came along before emergency service rep got there. He was able to start the vehicle. Took to dealer and was told after 4 days that they could not recreate the problem. Am now driving it, but afraid something else may happen.

Vehicle roll over driver after being placed in park at the residence causing fatal injuries. Driver reversed out of garage and exited vehicle. Inspection at the scene by the sheriff's office revealed the vehicle was in park backed against some trees. This vehicle is equipped with a automatic transmission and a automatic emergency brake. The gear shift lever can be placed between park and reverse and not move. If the gear shift lever is moved slowly from drive to park or reverse to park the automatic emergency brake does not engage this condition is very dangerous.

At 1800 miles, vehicle started to hesitate when pressing on gas pedal. When accelerating from stop, vehicle is hesitating and studdering very badly. This is affecting accelerating and causing a severe safety issue while driving. While at highway speeds, vehicle constantly is lunging hesitating when trying to merge into traffic. This has almost caused 3 accidents as in stop and go traffic, when pressing on gas to accelerate, car is shuddering and not finding right gear. Do not feel safe in car. Feels like car is going to stall out !!.

12/7/2017 I pulled into my driveway to park at 1 pm. I slowed down I had my foot on the brake, I was putting it into the park position when the car lunged forward and and put a hole in the garage door and knocked it off track. I was stunned & surprised. My husband and I could not duplicate this action. On 12/14/17 I pulled into the parking lot at foy park in burbank CA. I slowly pulled into a parking space ,my foot was on the brake as I put the car into the park position the engine revved and the car took off over a cement parking block and over the curb, went through a chain link fence and landed in the brush with 3 wheels off the ground and the engine was still racing with my foot on the brake. On 12/15/17 the day after I drove into my driveway about 2 pm. My foot was on the brake I put it into park and it did the same damn thing and 5 feet my friend elisa tunchez witnessed it. That was it for me I had it towed to keyes Lexus Toyota and never drove it again. Keyes said they could find nothing wrong with it and I know from checking on line with my friend stephen changary that other people have had the same problem in the u. S. I am deeply worried that this car will be sold again and someone will be injured or killed. There are 64437 miles on the odometer when traded in. Please help !! I was the only person injured, suffering back and neck injures and I am still being treated I'm a little afraid of driving any car at this point but I will work through it. .

Takata recall. Started car in the morning drove it to work didn't smell anything it was about 34miles all highway. Parked the car ( the car was not in motion at the time)went out in 15 min and the whole front end was on fire. Called fire department by the time they got here it was to late. This was on private property con edison of new york. The car only had 32,000 mile and was only maintained by Lexus all servive records they have now its going to cost me 18,0000 for upgrade or another car when this car was in mint condition don't have any repair records they were stored in the car. Lexus has all the car records. The car went in December for state inspection and oil change nothing was brought to our attention.

2009 RX 350 lift gate rubber melted while vehicle parked in driveway in 88 degree heat north florida. All previous posts by car owners who had same issue were told this was due to a chemical or electrical issue which I am now concerned may be a fire hazard. Rubber is dripping off onto back of my car, I am pregnant and do not want to touch this melted rubbery liquid and therefore cannot manually open my trunk. Have been told dealer will not cover the problem, which is clearly a defective material.

The contact owns a 2008 Lexus Rx350. While driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was pushed to the side of the road. When the contact disengaged the air condition compressor, the vehicle was able to restart. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the air condition compressor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 89,000.

The passenger side outside mirror exploded sending glass shards and caustic liquid on the side window and painted surface of the door and fender areas. Explosion was spontaneous with no apparent cause, ambient temp 50's, no bird strike, thrown rock or projectile. Explosion was gun-shot loud. Vehicle was being driven at 10mph on neighborhood street. No other moving cars at the time and the mirror did not come in contact with anything. Internet search of exploding mirrors revealed similar complaints from owners of many brands of vehicles. Cause of the explosion has to do with the dimming function in the mirrors of late model vehicles. The exact mechanism can only be guessed. The caustic liquid might, under pressure and electrical charge tend to bend the mirror in some way, and after some time, fail catastrophically. This theory was confirmed by a state inspection officer who has heard of similar problems with late model year side mirrors with dimmer function. Cost of repair from one estimate was $1300 for a new mirror and repainting of the marred surfaces. Lexus has refused our request to reimbursement or even to consider that the mirror could have exploded. I would also add that had there been a passenger seated and the window down, glass shards and caustic liquid would surely have struck the passenger in the face. There is a problem with these mirrors and a recall is clearly in order.

"takata recall" there is some sound from the car when ever I turn on my air conditioner and when I filed a case they are saying its design characteristic, where as there is no such in their previous designs or other models and its very irritating and disturbing while driving the car which makes me to disturb a lot.

Hatch handle for rear door melted. Rear interior module buckling.

The rear switch on the tailgate is melted. When you push on the button if feels sticky and comes off on your hands. To replace this part it cost 100. 00 for the part and 200. 00 to install. When I looked online so many people are having this issue. Something is wrong with the making of this part. It has failed.

My car caught fire on its own. I was awaken by the police who said that my parked car is on fire. The fire department and police confirmed that the fire started on its own from the engine and there is no larceny. I was driving 65 miles per hour on the freeway when I just heard a big loud pop I look at the sun roof and see shadder glass coming down on me. There was a big hole in the middle and nothing could of hit me there was no rocks near me. . . When I stoped to check inside the truck there was nothing that showed what could of hit the sun roof such as a rock. . . We took it to the Lexus delaer and said it was the 1st time they heard about this. . . I research online and this is not the 1st one that has happen to. Also the sun roof was poping up like the glass exploded upwords not as if something felt from the top of the sunroof as per many comments of people that own a Lexus 2010 has happened before.

The "engine maintenance required" light will not reset anymore after an oil change. . . Even after you follow the steps in the users manual. It used to work because I've done it before. Now, no matter what I do, it won't reset.

I have noticed for sometime while driving with my wife. The airbag light on the panel for the passenger side does not come on. Sometimes it comes on after we have been driving for a while. I figure the airbag will not work if we were in an accident. I have no idea how many cars could be effected with this issue.

The rubber cover of the liftgate sensor melted. I am concerned about it catching fire. I have read multiple complaints online from owners with the same issue. The black rubber melts and sticks to fingers. I also causes the sensor to malfunction since the rubber piece interferes with the sensor.

The contact owns a 2014 Lexus RX 350. While attempting to park the vehicle after a complete stop, during the (gear) shifting from drive to park, the vehicle suddenly accelerated and hit / crashed on to a building and spun off, and the impact caused the vehicle to travel for about 15 feet and stopped. Air bags did not deploy and a police report was filed. No injuries to anyone. The vehicle was towed to the Lexus dealership and later to dealership's collision shop. Approximate estimate for the repair is $21,000. Manufacturer was notified through the email option in Lexus customer assistance center. Approximate failure mileage was 5,500. It appears to be an issue with the engine or some internal electronic system. Because, when this incident happened, the vehicle was at a complete stop and my (driver) foot was on the brake pedal.

The car completely halted while driving on a city road. The steering locked and the car completely stopped in the middle of the road. The manufacturer inspected the car. During inspection they found a/c compressor locked up causing vehicle to stall under load. Once the a/c system is activated, vehicle will stall out. They also confirmed that this could happen while the vehicle is in motion on a highway going 60 mph and if it did, it would stall the car and lock up the vehicle just like it did in the first incident. It seems completely unreadable to stall a vehicle in motion for some confirm/convenience feature like a/c. I feel this is a fundamental engineering problem with the way the car is designed. I would like to ensure this is declared as an issue with the design of Lexus vehicles and there is a trigger to disconnect ac under such circumstances where ac can stall a car in motion.

Trunk hatch handle has melted completely, leaving black rubbery goo. Unable to open the back trunk due this issue.

I suffered back and neck pain while loading the rear trunk of my Lexus SUV. The remote door continued to close and couldn't be lifted from my body that was stuck between the door and rear truck area. I had to crawl from under the closing door that was crushing my back to prevent additional injuries that could have been fatal. The Lexus hq office was contacted and there is a current case report. The Lexus dealership located in duluth GA fixed the rear door free of charge by placing a sensor to open when an object or person is blocking the door while closing. Others Lexus and Toyota SUV owners have experienced similar problems when told what happened to me. I’m still taking medication for pain caused by the injuries.
