1 Engine Oil Leaking problem of the 2009 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 07/22/2019

Upon arriving home and parking in my driveway, a trail of oil lined my path. As soon as it was in park, oil began gushing out into a puddle under the car. Upon further research, it was found that Lexus had issues with the oil cooler hose used during manufacturing, being rubber and leaking or bursting. The vehicle was towed directly to the nearest authorized Lexus dealer. Upon contacting Lexus corporate in regards to the issue, they stated that they had issued and extended warranty for this problem, that expired in December of 2018. Since the issue occurred after the expiration date, there was no assistance available. My concern is, that this is and should be a safety recall, due to the nature of the problem. Had I been driving on the interstate, which I commonly do, this could have caused an accident, engine failure, and worse, a fire. Please, please, please issue a safety recall for this issue. It is absolutely a matter of safety.

2 Engine Oil Leaking problem of the 2009 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 05/28/2019

Tl the contact owns a 2009 Lexus Rx350. While at a fuel station, the contact was alerted by another person that there was oil leaking under the vehicle. The contact had aaa tow the vehicle back home. The vehicle was then towed to Lexus of rockville centre (700 sunrise hwy, rockville centre, NY 11570, (516) 665-0166) where it was determined that a hose was leaking oil. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact to file a complaint with NHTSA. The failure mileage was 92,000.

3 Engine Oil Leaking problem of the 2008 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 04/23/2019

Massive catastrophic oil leak. Noticed hot oil smell. No oil on dipstick. Oil spraying out at bottom of engine, right front. Car towed to shop. Oil hose between cooler and filter burst. Known problem. Toyota/Lexus has made an upgraded part but not notified most owners and will not replace until it fails. When it fails car can catch fire and severe engine damage results. Many videos and reports on the internet as this is a widespread problem.

4 Engine Oil Leaking problem of the 2011 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 03/29/2019

My 2011 Lexus Rx350 has rubber oil cooler hose and Lexus USA will not replace the pressurized rubber hose despite known incidents of catastrophic failure of the part. On some Rx350 models, Lexus has an extended warranty and replacement in case the part is leaking oil, but I was told by Lexus that my particular VIN is not eligible for the extended warranty. But even if I had the warranty, Lexus will not preemptively replace the part, despite 1) safety concern of failure on highway at high speeds and fire hazard risk, 2) potential catastrophic engine failure as the line would rupture and all oil would be lost within seconds and engine would seize and 3) potential environmental damage of loss 6. 4 quarts of oil over roadways. Please consider advising Lexus to do a safety recall on all rubber oil cooler hose parts. Thank you.

The dealer and the manufacturer were not contacted. The failure mileage was 80,000.

6 Engine Oil Leaking problem of the 2007 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 06/23/2018

1. Wife bought car on August 31, 2016 from dealer in tacoma, wa (with 90,900 miles on it) with a warranty service contract with it. 2. She takes it to a Lexus service dealer in washington at 95,377 miles on July 13, 2017 to have the oil and oil filter change (note: oil cooler hose is right by the oil filter). They change the oil and oil filter, and mention other things about the car, but nothing about oil cooler hose. ) 3. Because warranty service contract is best for people who put a lot of miles on a she drop the warranty service contract in September 2017 about, applied the refund to amount owing on car. 4. On June 23, 2018 (at 99850 miles) the (original manufacturer) oil cooler hose leak oil a-lot, in about 1/2 a mile all the oil (6 qtrs +) was out of the engine maybe, she did not notice the leak until 3 + miles of running the car, (no light came on the dash). 5. So read that in March 2010 Toyota had their car engines with year 2007 had the dealer replace the oil cool hose (part of the hose was rubber-and was known to leak, the oil cool hose now is all metal) and the car I'm referring here (2007 Lexus RX 350) was part of the replacement to. Also notice that the owner of the vehicle at the time had until March 2013 to have it done. And I guess the owner at the time, never had the original oil cooler hose (part rubber) replaced. 6. So my question here is does the Lexus dealer (on 7/13/2017 who change the oil) have any obligation to inform her that she has a oil cooler hose that is known to leak (original one on car that was part rubber)?? 7. I have attached the original oil cooler hose picture (that was on the car) to this complaint. Thanks, for your time.

7 Engine Oil Leaking problem of the 2008 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 05/31/2018

The rubber hose in the oil line to the oil cooler failed, allowing all engine oil to quickly leak out. If this had happened at freeway speeds, the engine would have seized and power steering and power brakes would have been instantly lost. . . Creating an extremely dangerous situation. Luckily I was driving on surface roads at 25-35 mph when mine failed Lexus knew of this problem and eliminated the rubber hose in its 2011 models but did nothing to warn owners of that vehicle. Nhtsa was also aware and addressed in NHTSA id 10056509 (possibly incorrect id). I'm really pissed that it is going to cost me $500 to fix this Lexus defect, but I'm thankful I hadn't driven to my office that day using interstate highways! all Lexus vehicles having this defect should be recalled immediately.

8 Engine Oil Leaking problem of the 2010 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 02/24/2018

Oil hose leak. Oil pipe which connects to the engine. While driving the hose will leak and you will never be advised that the oil is low. "a service bulletin" went out to replace the plastic hose to metal. When you take the car to the dealership they try to tell you its not a safety issue but an engine not receiving oil and your truck just breaking down is a safety issue.

9 Engine Oil Leaking problem of the 2007 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 09/29/2017

On Friday September 29 2017 my wife was driving her 2007 RX 350 and she noticed a line of oil leading to her vehicle as it was backed into a parking space. After checking the oil she noticed the vehicle had lost 4 quarts of oil. Upon investigating further it was observed that the engine lost that amount of oil in just a few miles. When we delivered the vehicle to our repair shop on October 4th we were told that it was the rubber oil line that sprung a leak. They said they have replaced many of these as they are a design flaw from Lexus directly. The new part was immediately ordered from Lexus and is to be installed when it comes in. After all of this I have a question. If this is such a problem part which has been now altered to eliminate the rubber portion on the part, why would I be charged for this part? this has been a known problem for quite some time. As an owner past and present of 9 (nine) Toyota/Lexus vehicles I'm very concerned about how something like this seems to be accepted by Toyota motor corp as apparently no big deal. Had my wife not noticed the leak the engine would've run dry of oil and I'd be looking at a bill for a new engine. Probably $8,000. Does anyone there have an answer other than the quality of parts and engineering at tmc has taken a downward turn. Thank you for listening.

10 Engine Oil Leaking problem of the 2010 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 07/27/2017

My car started leaking oil all over my driveway and into the garage, as soon as I realized what happened I drove it to the dealer. Dealer said front oil cooler hoses were leaking and that I was not the first. Dealer asked Lexus to recall and were refused. This defect is all over the internet since the company used rubber hose instead of metal which they used to use and should have continued to use. The part was covered under warranty but my driveway and garage floor are ruined. The company 1-800 number service person was rude. I was never notified this part was a problem. Other drivers are being stranded on roadways and their engines are blowing up. Please help. This needs a class action suit or a forced recall.

11 Engine Oil Leaking problem of the 2007 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 07/27/2017

Engine oil was pouring out of my vehicle while I was driving. The engine oil cooler line was leaking. It needed to be replaced and the undercarriage needed to be cleaned. This could have been dangerous if I was not able to immediately get the car to the repair shop.

13 Engine Oil Leaking problem of the 2007 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 08/25/2016

Lost engine oil driving 20 minutes to work. Lexus dealer advised there is a common problem with the oil cooler line, there is a campaign within 10 years of first use. They won't replace it unless leaking; otherwise you are allowed to drive until the line blows causing catastrophic engine damage. A $60 part ends up being an engine replacement; nevermind the potential danger of an engine freeze at 65 miles an hour.

15 Engine Oil Leaking problem of the 2009 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 11/24/2015

I saw white smoke in my rear view mirror while driving on a street. No engine lights appeared. I had been driving on the freeway a few minutes earlier. I pulled over and called my Lexus dealer, who regularly does my maintenance. I had car towed to dealer, who said it was the vvti oil cooler hose and it would be covered under warranty. Next day, dealer tells me they replaced the vvti hose but it was still leaking. It was a different rubber oil hose and would not be covered under warranty. I am not happy. I see that this has been a problem with Toyota and Lexus so why didn't my dealership replace the vvti hose during a routine oil change and warn me about the rubber hose problem, so I could replace it with a metal one before it leaked. I hope there is no engine damage.

16 Engine Oil Leaking problem of the 2007 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 01/16/2015

The vvti hose on my Lexus ruptured which then caused a massive oil leak.

17 Engine Oil Leaking problem of the 2009 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 10/20/2014

Vehicle started leaking oil and within 50 yards lost all engine oil. Toyota dealership found oil cooler pipe had leaked and they had to replace the oil cooler assembly - parts numbers - 15767-31020, 11496-31010, 15785-31010.

18 Engine Oil Leaking problem of the 2007 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 08/26/2014

I received letter from Lexus telling me the engine oil cooler pipe could have leakage, but Lexus won't replace it unless it's leaking. I searched the internet and there are many other car owners have had the leak and when it does, the engine might be gone because of no oil left in the reservoir. This could end up in an accident or fire, or at least engine blows up. Lexus also said when this happens, they will only replace the defective pipe, Toyota part number: 15767-31020 pipe, oil cooler, thus leaving owners to pay thousands for a new or rebuilt engine. Why don't they just replace the defective rubber pipe with their new metal pipe? I am sure they are aware of the prolem, it will happen sooner or later. Please help!.

19 Engine Oil Leaking problem of the 2007 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 05/14/2014

As I was driving to work at night I noticed to engine got very loud, I pulled over noticed blueish-white smoke coming from engine, engine oil light finally came on. Got out the car noticed a stream of oil behind the car. My car was still under extended warranty at this time. I immediately turned the car off when I seen the smoke. I left the car there. I contacted the Lexus dealer of mt kisco which refused to come and get the car so I had the car towed at my expense, to their dealer. Received a phone from dealer that day that the car was fixed, representative would not tell me what was wrong with my car only that it was covered under warranty and was rude! I found out later the next day the oil cooler line leaked out which I found out on this site this has been a problem with the Rx350. And they kept telling me the engine was not damaged. Received the car back, engine was not right, now the lower part of the engine had to be replaced! received the car again ,within a week noticed a sound coming from the engine, dealer picked car again and they put in a camshaft! before this incident, I never had a problem with this car, it was the best car I ever had, now, it is a nightmare! at this present time, the car is leaking again!! it looks like oil!.

20 Engine Oil Leaking problem of the 2007 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 01/31/2013

My 2007 Rx350 was in for 50k maintenance service. I was informed of the power steering oil leaking. No dropping of oil was noticed on the parking floor at my home. Technician informed that the oil reservoir was almost empty. I was asked to replace the power steering rack. I was told by the Lexus technician that about 30% of RX-350 2006 seem to have this issue within 5 years of in service date and Toyota/ Lexus id not pay any concern for the safety of the owners. I cannot imagine that I am driving on the freeway at highway speeds running without oil in the power steering. Please review and advise all owners of this failure and ensure Lexus recalls and fix this issue for all owners.

21 Engine Oil Leaking problem of the 2007 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 07/15/2012

While driving on highway engine motor oil suddenly leak (massive leak all over the car underneath and back) and produce burning smoke. Did not know this happen(no warning signals at all) and wind blow the smoke back so the driver can't see it. The motor oil was down to nothing after been told by other driver to stop the car. Tow the car to Lexus dealer and been told the 'rear main seal and front timing cover seal' broke. The deal did not see the problem(rear main seal broke) before and don't know the cause. Did not see any oil leak underneath the car or any warning light for the past 5 years.

23 Engine Oil Leaking problem of the 2007 Lexus RX350

Failure Date: 09/05/2010

I have 2007 Lexus RX 350, while I was driving the car on September 5, 2010, my a/c light started blinking and then gave me "check air condition" sign. Start to smell gas/oil smell and also saw some smoke from the engine. I pulled over and saw oil leaking by the front passenger tire side. Opened my hook and check for oil level and I was almost out of oil. I figured my oil might be leaking for a while and when I got back home I realized there was some oil in my driveway as well. So I think this problem started a day ago. I added 3 quarts and drove the car back home (about 4 miles). Since I had added additional oil, it had more oil to leak out. Which made my driveway covered with more oil. I have not had any kind of accident on this car and have done my oil change very regularly while I was browsing this issue online, I realized there are number of people who have report same problem for same model of Lexus on different forms and blogs. It is my request for you to look into this and see if this is manufactures issues. This situation is very hazardous and unsafe for the vehicle to drive. I would appreciate your help on this.
