2 Brake Electric Antilock problem of the 2002 Lincoln LS

Failure Date: 01/01/2005

2002 Lincoln Lse. Had three instances where the consumer tried to brake and the vehicle surged forward and did not stop. This has been over the last nine months. Took vehicle to the dealership, and they didn't know what the problem was. They did not have a code. The dealership said they contacted Ford motor company, and they said they had no other instances with this model car. The consumer bought vehicle new in August 2002. Had no problems with the brakes before nine months ago. There has been no accidents.

3 Brake Electric Antilock problem of the 2004 Lincoln LS

Your driving along , the car slow down there is a metal to metal noise, traction light comes on, you step on the brake and the pedal goes to the floor. Came to close to having an accident' I or my wife took the car to the dealer they say they can not duplicate the problem. The car spent more than 2 months at the dealership.

2003 Lincoln Ls has had numerous problems. 1. Vehicle vibrates excessively at highway speeds - dealer states this is the luxury that is the Lincoln. 2. Cd player has broken twice - radio system replaced once, needs to be replaced again. 3. Antilock brake system went out - dealer fixed.

5 Brake Electric Antilock problem of the 2001 Lincoln LS

The car had a noise in the right front tire that started 2 weeks after the car was bought. The car has been repaired at least 5 times. Still makes noise and sounds as if the whole front is falling apart. Currently, using oil more than normal, has been checked oil leaks and found none. The engine has an idle miss, and every time starting it has white smoke, this is been going on since January 2003. Dealer has repaired the car with lots of parts, but it is still not fixed. And still using oil, when driving over 60 mph the check engine light comes on. The brake system had to be changed 8-9 months after purchasing the vehicle.

6 Brake Electric Antilock problem of the 2002 Lincoln LS

2002 Lincoln Ls exhibiting recurring brake system defects. Briefly, the warning lights for the brake system, anti-lock system and the advanced trac system illuminated under normal driving, which was followed by a hard brake with a severe pull to the side. The dealer found faulty ground wire caused a loss of battery voltage to the abs module, however the problem recurred while driving, the warning lights illuminated on the dash board, the vehicle made a hard turn to the right and a hard braking force was applied, the consumer had great difficulty trying to keep the vehicle under control, minutes later the engine shut off by itself and then restarted by itself, the dealer replaced numerous parts, but the problem recurred. Also the cruise control failed to activate during normal highway driving.

Wife driving, I'm passenger. Applied brakes, helf firmly, went thru stop sign. Lucky ! next, at red light, car quickly lurched forward but was able to brake before hitting car in front. Reported this to the dealership. They reported back that they looked for any such problems in their computer system and "there was none. " this is most frightening. What should I do?.

When driving 15-20 mph and upon depressing brake pedal to make a gradual stop vehicle suddenly accelerated, causing an accident. Vehicle hit a brick wall in which driver's side and passenger's side air bags did not deploy. Consumer has contacted dealer.

Uphill at 45 mph vehicle lurched/took off, applied brake for about 1/8 of a mile. Brakes could not hold vehicle. Went through two intersections before consumer was able to stop vehicle. Dealer had vehicle for 2 weeks, could not find cause. Consumer no longer felt safe driving vehicle.

When consumer is at a stop sign or light and applies brakes, brakes pedal goes all the way down to floorboard. Dealership is aware of problem, and vehicle will go into shop today.

While driving on highway brake pedal is soft and spongy. Brake system stops properly. But, when applying brakes on an incline or in traffic, pedal will go to the floor. Contacted dealer and they said this was the way it was designed. Brakes are working as designed.
