We have owned this car for about 3 years and it has been one problem after another and see same problems on line 1) will start over heating sometimes at idle sometimes while driving (try being in dfw rush hour traffic and deal with that 2) wife was driving one day and a bolt on right lower control arm broke sending her across 4 lanes of traffic including on coming. 3) all of a sudden when brake pedal was depressed started hearing vacuum leak under dash, brake pedal real hard , and couldn't hardly get car to stop, traction control light started flashing. Found bad brake booster and sensor located on it (both unavailable from manufacturer), also found on line that to get light to stop flashing you have to take to dealer and have reprogrammed (nobody else has the ability) 4) have constantly had problem with check engine light staying on and running rough, no power, and having to replace ignition coils 5) while wife was driving with no advance notice of any kind heading home on farm market road with no shoulder to pull off on transmission went out completely and stopped pulling 6) rear control arm bushings go from ok to extremely bad causing back end to drift from side to side going down the highway in a blink of an eye 7) right front sway bar link keeps wearing control arm and snapping stud off 8) sunroof drain hoses constantly failing and allowing water to get to electrical components the list goes on but all you have to do is a online search of the Ls sport with the 3. 9 v-8 and see all the problems. I was in automotive for over 16 years and every vehicle generally has its know couple problems but this is way beyond that. There hasn't been any accidents or injuries but real close to it.

While driving this car on a highway or street any time it encounters small bumps the wheel turns and there's a loud slamming sound from the front passenger and driver side of the car. It's worse going into turns speed does not matter you can go slow or fast and the loud slamming sound is there. It feels very unsafe and dangerous. But me being a senior citizen with a son who as a disability we cannot afford to get this fixed our selves. It started a while ago but was not that bad but it just progressed and got worse. We need this car for doctors appointments and food shopping. We cant travel far for fear of being in a crash or being stranded.
Randomly when applying the brakes the car accelerates instead of stopping. This is referred to as unintended acceleration. In some cases this happened on the freeway and others on city streets at very low speeds. Attached is my correspondence with Ford over this matter. As you will see from the correspondence, these incidents occurred soon after I bought the vehicle in 2000 (first incident was in 2001) up until most recently, 2/28/2015. I'm uploading three documents: 1 - my initial to Ford dated 08/23/2015 summarizing the entire episode of incidents 2 - the response letter from Ford date 8/27/2015 3 - my final letter to Ford dated 10/25/2015 asking them to pick up the car from my house.

It was driving fine one day until I went to start it. It said etc engine fail safe mode, check parking brake and something about the gears. It starts sometimes, I've had it shut down while doing 50 mph and lose steering and bad braking. This is a potential hazard for my newborn in the car. Now it wont start and no one knows what the problem is. How can they sell a car that they cant find out the problem on themselves and sell it?.
Filled car with gas. Pulled up to enter roadway and had to stop for traffic. When I tried to move forward emergency brake came on. Put car in park shut off engine and restarted and emergency brake released. This is the second time this has happened in two days. Leaving gas station. Pulled up to enter road. Had to stop for traffic. Tried to move forward, but emergency brake came on. Put car in park, shut off engine. Restarted and emergency brake came off. This is the second time this has happened.

As soon as the warranty expired the vehicle bagan to have intermittent error messages about the parking brake needing service and the climate control began to blow only hot air. Vehicle has very low miles, garaged meticulously, serviced. Lincoln contacted about the issue and was told I needed to have dealer run diagnositcs and then they could know whether they may be able to help with repairs to climate control. Paid 170. 00 for diagnosics, dealer and Lincoln refused to do anything sticking me with the bill. They made the excuse that it was my fault because it may have occured because I didnt drive it enough. I was shocked , its first time that ive heard suggested that taking care of something caused it to break! . Rediculously poor customer satisfaction department.
I brought a 2000 Lincoln Ls from a dealer by the name of import auto sales located at 589 e 32nd st. Paterson new jersey 07513. When I was taken for a test drive by the salesman I question him on a squeaky bumpy noise on the front side of the car . He told me that the tires needed air and the road in this area is very bumpy. To later find out that on that model car there was a ball joints recall . Before I found out thru the website google about the recall I took it to a repair shop ( Lincoln Ford dealer ) and the price they gave me was $4,000 including labor. I had just finished spending $2,000 on regular maintenance work (tune-up - oil change - cooling flush- new rotors with brakes . And other regular work that you need to do on a car with over 100,000 miles. Now the car is park because I don't have the money to repair it. I was told that if I drive it with bad ball joints the wheel might become separated and get into a fatal crash that could kill the driver and passengers.
The contact owns a 2000 Lincoln Ls. The contact stated that she would repeatedly feel abnormal bouncing while driving various speeds. Secondly, when applying pressure to the brake pedal, she would hear a loud squealing noise accompanied with mild sliding. There were no warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel prior to the failures. She took the vehicle to the dealer on numerous occasions and the brakes were replaced four times within one year. As of March 10, 2009, all the remedies have been insufficient in resolving the failures. The failure mileage was 70,000 and current mileage was 77,000.
The contact owns a 2000 Lincoln Ls. The contact shifted from park to reverse while parked on a flat surface. The vehicle began to roll backwards while the brake pedal was depressed. The vehicle did not stop until the gear was shifted into park. The vehicle has not been inspected by a dealer. The current and failure mileages were 29,688.
The contact owns a 2005 Lincoln Ls. While driving 70 mph, the computer within the vehicle activated the emergency brake. The vehicle is equipped with a brake by wire system. The contact stated that all of the instrument panel lights illuminated and the security alarm sounded. He pulled off the road, shut off, and then restarted the vehicle. He took it to the dealer and they replaced a relay in the vehicle, however, the failure recurred two weeks later. He returned to the dealer, but they did not repair the vehicle a second time. The failure mileage was 8,000 and current mileage was 9,000. Updated 12-12-07. The consumer stated the parking brake activated on its own. It could only be released by stopping the vehicle and then turning it off. Updated.
This car has had eight incidents in two years of coil packs failing. I have had multiple other problems with this car, ie (brakes, air conditioning electronics. . . ) Ford can't get the coil problems fixed.
I got my car in Jan. Of 2004, since then the dealership has seen it more than I have. The airbag light keeps coming on, window regulators keep going out, windows keep geting off track and making awful noises, windows slam shut, and the brakes are squealing but the dealship can never find the problem and when they do 'fix' these problems, a few weeks later they are broke again. I cant keep taking off work for this and the dealer I bought it from wont help me, and because it is a used car, there are no lemon laws. What can I do? help!!!.
When applying the brakes, the vehicle lurched forward. As a result, the vehicle experienced extended stopping distance . No impact was reported. Please provide additional information.
When approaching a stop the brakes do not hold. This is an intermittent problem and no common denominators can be found. The car will slow down when braking, but on occasion the car will continue moving even when brakes are fully applied, causing the vehicle to run stop signs, intersections, and rear ending other vehicles. Also when braking it takes a long distance to do so.
While applying the brakes vehicle will stall without prior warning. Consumer had no power steering or brakes.
Consumer was travelig 35-40mph around a small curve brakes were applied slightly and locked up. Brakes stopped the wheels completely, but vehicle kept going. Vehicle was pulling to left & blewout.
