Failure Date: 05/02/2026

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? power steering while driving yesterday, doing shopping and online order deliveries, the steering wheel started having slight resistance during turns. It became worse shortly after. As I attempted to leave a grocery store, less than 5 minutes away from home, the steering wheel was extremely difficult to turn. I didn't see any leaks under the hood nor on the ground underneath my car. Nor was there any smells nor odors. On 5/1/2026, I did hear a slight noise when I turned the steering wheel to back into the driveway at home. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? steering wheel became difficult to turn right or left. I barely made it home to park it, as the longer I drove to get home, the more difficult it became to make turns. I parked it immediately as I didn't want to make too wide of a turn on a road, risking any accidents. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? not yet. I will need the car towed to a local Ford/Lincoln dealership for assessment. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? not yet, in the process of contacting my auto insurance about it. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? the message on the dashboard was "service power steering" and it appeared on 5/2/2026 for the very first time. Also, the power steering icon showed in a stable amber color. This message did not appear before.

4 Steering problem of the 2010 Lincoln MKS

Failure Date: 10/28/2025

No power steering and power steering assist failure warning message. Took to dealer, and they said the epas needed to be replaced. Also, that the oem part was no longer available, so they had to use after market part and would not guarantee the labor. 3 months later same problem. There is a recall for 2011-2013 same car with the same problem, but not for 2010. Defective epas system causing the failure. Spoke to Lincoln concierge and Ford concierge and they would not help with a remedy or with dealer support.

5 Steering problem of the 2011 Lincoln MKS

Failure Date: 09/05/2025

I was driving and I hear a beeping sound, and my steering just stopped working and made it difficult to control the vehicle in a curve. . Recall details: 2011–2013 power steering electric assist loss •in June 2015, Ford issued recall #15s18 (NHTSA campaign 15v340000) for a range of vehicles—including the 2011 Lincoln Mks—due to a potential intermittent electrical connection in the steering gear. This defect could cause loss of electronic power steering assist, increasing steering effort and potential crash risk , I never received notification of this potential risk and it was lucky that my grandchildren was not in the car because I usually pick them up from school about the time this occurred. Just want to know what action can I take and how can you assist me?.

7 Steering problem of the 2013 Lincoln MKS

Failure Date: 07/29/2025

The Lincoln was parked. When I started the car, the steering wheel would not move at all to the right or left. Simultaneously, the warning appeared that said, power steering fault. The car was towed to the dealership. They diagnosed the car and fixed the software and replaced the steering module. Apparently, there was a recall on Lincoln Mks vehicles in 2015. I did not own the car at that time. The dealership service person said there was no recall on the VIN for this car. The notice on this website said no unrepaired recalls. My concern is that if the car was in motion and the power steering turned off there could have been an accident and injuries as a result.

8 Steering problem of the 2012 Lincoln MKS

Failure Date: 07/24/2025

I’ve owned my 2012 Lincoln Mks for 3 years. A warning recently appeared saying “power steering assist fault,” and now the steering is very hard to turn, especially at low speeds. I’ve already paid around $1,800 in the past to fix this issue once, but now I’m experiencing the same or similar problems again. I haven’t had it officially diagnosed this time because both Ford and the dealer told me it wouldn’t be covered, since the recall (15s18) is now expired. This is a serious safety issue. The car is difficult to control and unsafe to drive. I’m a full-time worker and a father of two toddlers, and I’m still making payments on this car that I now can’t safely use — or only for short trips while constantly worrying about steering failure. I just found out about this old recall, and the dealership never told me anything about it when I bought the car used. I strongly believe I’m experiencing the same issue Ford previously recalled these vehicles for, and I’m asking NHTSA to investigate or reopen the recall so it can be repaired before me or my family is seriously injured.

15 Steering problem of the 2013 Lincoln MKS

Failure Date: 07/11/2024

I was driving my 2013 limcoln Mks and all of the sudden I could not turn the vehicle left or right. Then I had these 2 warnings: power assist fault and service advancetrac. This is very dangerous. It caused me to run my car into wall in front of me. It could have been a person. I called Lincoln and was told there were no active recalls, yet no repairs ever on my steering. So even though there was a recall for 2011-2013 limcoln Mks power steering, it did not include my VIN. I guess they just don't want to have to take responsibility. It boggles my mind how they can include or not include certain vins because my vehicle had the same thing happen as the recall for same year make and model, yet not my VIN and it is allowed. Then when I get on the NHTSA website and see all of these same complaints, that it is perfectly ok because why? what is it, a sneaky way to continue with population control because covid didn't quite kill enough people for the government to reach their potential? this is ludicrous. It is ridiculous. It is unsafe. It is horrific that vehicles like mine are even allowed to drive on the road, with such a high risk on the road. . . . Seriously, why is my VIN not included and what is the criteria when there is a recall for certain year make and model, why aren't every vehicle matching that year make and model included. To exclude them would mean that it had to be thoroughly investigated and investigating that thoroughly would mean to discover that indeed that vehicle should also be included. Maybe this recall is only for the elite and not for the meek. All created equal. . . . Not even close.

Steering wheel became hard to turn suddenly, I then searched online saw the recall from Ford that was reported years ago in 2016 and when I called the dealer to fixed he told me the recall is expired and they cannot service my car under the recall. Dealer suggested I should pay out of pocket. I just feel like it so unfair and such a safety hazard I didn't know anything of the recall when I bought the car in 2021 and because it's just happening now in 2024 the dealer won't cover the recall because the recall expired.
