1 Air Bag problem of the 2007 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 08/11/2024

My 2007 Lincoln Mkx was in drive with the brake depressed waiting to back up into a traffic lane from an angled parking space in front of a small shop in our historic downtown area. Suddenly, the vehicle accelerated forward at a high rate of speed jumping the shallow curb and slamming into the cement foundation of the store. Continuing to depress the brakes made no difference in stopping the jarring unintended forward motion. The speed moving forward was so high that in the 10-12 feet from the curb to the store entrance the impact demolished the entire front of the vehicle even bending the front axels. The airbags did not deploy at all. The witness interviewed, reported loud screeching tires as her back was to the scene during the collision. Local pd, ems and fire all responded, with a full police report filed. It was extremely fortunate no person was either on the sidewalk or in the entrance to the storefront. My injuries included severe bruising to the right side of my neck, as well as a hematoma on my right tibia and an oblique fracture to bones in my right foot. There were no passengers in the car with me. The accident, and extreme concern over the malfunction of the vehicle allowing it to take control away from myself as the driver, has been reported to Ford Lincoln and a claim number established. My insurance company took possession of the vehicle from the tow lot after three days after determining it was a total loss. To reiterate, there was no warning at all before the incident. I was simply waiting for traffic to clear, so I could put the vehicle from drive into reverse and pull out of the parking space.

2 Air Bag problem of the 2010 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 05/12/2024

I am satisfied with the help that the customer service assisted me with and that was getting my service moved up to September 26th from the original date of October 30th. But I am not satisfied with the remedy. I have received several written letters from Lincoln that go into detail of the recall on my car and as well they say and in big red letters . . Do not drive your car until repairs are done. Well, I should say that you see my 2010 Lincoln Mkx is my and only vehicle I own I can not just park it up and forget I have a life and a job because of no fault of my own that my one and only car urgently is needing repair to the factory installed air bags. Therefore I ask Lincoln to assist me with a rental until my car had been repaired. I do not feel safe driving my car. Letter's I have on hand from Lincoln plainly stating do not drive. I am upset Lincoln ortrays they care so much to bombard me with all the recall letters and such but pretty much told me no we dont do rental cars so what I am to do??? I don't have rental coverage on my insurance. I couldn't afford it. So what choice do I have??? if I do die from their faulty air bags imploding on me atleast make sure my children and grandchildren knew I begged for a rental but Lincoln couldn't back me with that. I guess making luxury car's for so many years has not left them with much profit seeing as how in a life or death situation brought on by their mistake they leave their customers to chance it because it cost to much for rentals to ensure their customers are kept safe until their car is serviced and safe to drive. They have no compassion for people is how I am feeling about this whole situation. Only covering themselves legally in the cheapest fix possible to avoid legal issues. Guess Lincoln owners are just numbers and dollar signs and not mothers, fathers, daughters, sons, aunt or uncles or grandparents that are loved and would be missed severely in the event of their death by a recalled air bag.

4 Air Bag problem of the 2013 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 09/08/2023

I bought the car 1 week before taking it to Ford garage to be serviced and inspected. It has high mileage. Over 208,000 miles. The engine light was on the previsce owner said it needed an 02 sensor, up on them checking it needed 2 02 sensors and a drivers side air bag replacement. Up on them checking the car fax at the Ford garage the service manager told me that the vehicle had never been in an accident or any reported damage. Do airbags normally just go bad. I had to replace airbag so that it would pass west virginia's state inspection. The service manager got upset at me when I asked why it needed replaced. He ever told me they would not do the work. But it needed done to pass the state inspection, I would just have to park it and forget about it unless I sold it to someone n a state that did not require state inspections like the man I bought it from in ohio. I even asked if it could be a sensor or componet that was bad instead of replacing the complete airbag. The service manager got very upset on me asking. So I told him to do the work so that I would be able to drive the vehicle. Replacement and labor was over $1,000. I live on s. S and that's a lot of money. Plus the 2, 02 senors was over $600. Plus whether it maters , the evening before they picked up the vehicle the air conditioning worked great. Have witness. The picked it up and drove it to the Ford dealership in wellsburg , west virginia which is a drive of about 8 to 10 miles. The service manger told me the car had no air conditioning working. This is very strange since the day I bought the car the air conditioning worked great. He told me he even had his supervisor check it. I have not been able to check the vehicle because I have been extremely ill since vehicle has been returned. I have not been able to check it , I haven't even been outside my home. All together, parts and labor an different items came to over $2,800 . Was there ever a recall on the airbags during this time period its a 2013mkx.

12 Air Bag problem of the 2007 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 05/01/2022

I purchased the vehicle a few months ago from a small used dealership in anderson, SC. The seller/owner raved about the condition of the car and all seemed well until after the purchase when I discovered there was an open recall for the driver's airbag. However, when I contacted the local Ford dealership and the NHTSA website I found there is "no remedy" available from Ford. According to various websites, I find that the risk factor is listed as red due to the extreme temp variation and perpetual humidity in south carolina, but some state is getting these replacement bags, though not here. We do not have a garage or carport so the car is outside and subject to all the variations constantly. I can find no means of notifying Ford that I am the new owner of this VIN so will never receive the mandated mail notification. I am elderly and do not believe I should have to wait until there is an explosion in order to get some action. Takata cannot be the only manufacturer of airbags. My vehicle needs to be made safe now and not then. Somehow I would bet that a bag is available if I were able to afford it on my own.

Failure Date: 11/02/2018

"takata recall"I have received a recall notice for my Lincoln in December 2017. And my vehicle have not yet had my takata airbags repaired. I have contacted the Lincoln in pines blvd many times and they do not solve the problem. I was in there with the recall notice in spring of 2018 and nothing happened. That was the date provided on the notice. We are in November 2018 and they are passing almost two years. The Lincoln are expensive cars and the maintenance also cost too much. I can not believe they can not assist people in this dangerous situation. If takata airbags deploy, they spray metal debris toward vehicle occupants and may cause serious injury. Safety recall notice 16s26/NHTSA recall 16v-384. I am feeling so bad with the unsafe condition of the car.
