Driver side front door sensor says car door is open even when door is firmly shut. Causes doors not to lock, interior and puddle lights remain on, drains battery, doors won't lock even with car in motion. Severe rust problems under carriage air bag light remains on.

2 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2008 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 07/02/2016

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2008 Lincoln Mkx. The contact stated that NHTSA campaign number: 16v384000 (air bags) exceeded a reasonable amount of time for repair. The contact received the recall in July of 2016. The dealer (hertrich capitol, 1127 s dupont hwy, dover, DE, 19901) stated that the parts were unavailable for repair. The manufacturer was not contacted. The contact included that the air bag warning sensor was illuminated. The failure mileage was unknown. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
