1 Brakes Failed problem of the 2011 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 05/06/2021

Vehicle has less that 50k miles and rarely driven. Three different instances of the brakes failing with the pedal being pushed going all the way to the floor was diagnosed to be an issue with a recall for the brake booster (recalll 13n02). Symptoms of "spongy brakes" always present. Other brake components were checked and verified to be operational. Dealer indicated this is not a safety issue and will not be fixed because the extended warranty had expired. Yet I have a dangerous vehicle that I am expected to pay for a manufacturing defect.

3 Brakes Failed problem of the 2013 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 03/11/2020

I purchased my vehicle 2 years ago with only 36k miles. 10 months ago I noticed on ocasion that after shifting to park the vehicle was not recognizing and alert said to shift to park. Also while braking on hills I could feel pressure building up and pressing against my foot causing me to be forced to press very hard to stop, this continued only on ocasion until recently while stopped at a traffic light my car will loose power and the low engine pressure light beeps 3 times. As this has progressed my vehicle is now un driveable. I took my vehicle to Lincoln dealer in spokane wa and was told the brake booster was failing and there was an active recall for this issue but they were unable to repair because my VIN # wasnt showing that my vehicle was included in recall. Please help.

4 Brakes Failed problem of the 2012 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 11/27/2019

The brakes on our 2012 Lincoln Mkx have without warning failed placing myself and my family at great risk. The sequence of the failure was a very stiff brake pedal immediately followed by a soft pedal that when depressed goes fully to the floor (endpoint of the brakes). In spite of being fully depressed braking is extremely minimal. There is no cabin warning of a system failure and the only method of knowing of this life critical system's failure is needing to use the brakes. This obviously places the occupants of the car and those innocently in the car's path at a heightened risk of death due to total brake failure. I have seen that this complaint is not isolated to our Ford product but extremely prevalent to Ford edge and Lincoln Mkx vehicles. While Ford is supporting the issue through a warranty extension given the extreme danger presented by catastrophic brake failure such as this it seems prudent that the NHTSA demand a recall of all vehicles that may be subject to this issue. Our vehicle has only 67,400 miles on it and is garage kept. Please take action to prevent tragedy!.

6 Brakes Failed problem of the 2011 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 08/23/2019

The brake booster was replaced on my 2011 Lincoln Mkx due to a recall due to brake failure. It was replaced approximately 1,000 miles ago and now it has failed again and nearly caused a serious accident. . This incident was on the 23rd of August 2019. This manufacturer used faulty brake boosters from the beginning. This car only has 53,578 current miles. This automobile is a danger not only to the owner but also to the general public if not corrected by the Ford Lincoln motor company. . History: Lincoln Mkx and Ford edge vehicles are experiencing more serious problems than necessary. . I have been waiting patiently for another reply from the local dealership concerning this unsafe & major problem with my 2011 Lincoln Mkx. My wife & I were on our way home on the highway approaching a red light. When I pushed the brake pedal to stop the brake pedal went all the way to the floor and nearly caused a serious accident. I made it home and parked the vehicle under the carport and it has not been driven since. I have . Started it and rechecked it and the pedal still goes all the way to the floor. . . This car has been a lemon automobile as far as the brakes and brake booster are concerned. I feel that Ford Lincoln motor company should be responsible for this problem and should have the brake problem fixed on a permanent basis and not on a temporary basis!!! unsatisfied customer/owner of my 2011 Lincoln Mkx. If this problem is not corrected by the Ford Lincoln company I will have no other alternative except to contact an attorney.

9 Brakes Failed problem of the 2009 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 01/07/2019

As reported in forbes magazine on April 24, 2018 there are numerous complaints regarding brake failures with Lincoln mkz 2006-2012 model years affecting one million sedans. The Lincoln Mkx model (crossover) I believe to be affected as well. In my case, what happened is that the anti lock brake system has failed on many occasions while I was operating the vehicle with my family inside resulting in several near rear end collisions. Apparently this is a common failure on the 2009 Lincoln Mkx model as the abs component is on backorder and a wait of over 3 weeks is required. This is a monumental safety issue and there should be an investigation opened immediately and a recall issued on these vehicles.

10 Brakes Failed problem of the 2011 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 11/05/2018

Power boost on brakes fails intermittently. When the power boost goes out, the car either fails to stop, or if already stopped, then jumps forward until the driver stomps the brake to the floor to stop. It's extremely dangerous.

11 Brakes Failed problem of the 2011 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 11/03/2018

The brake booster failed on my vehicle and was just replaced by the dealership for nearly $900 dollars. This is the 2nd major safety issue I have had with this vehicle because the throttle body had an issue that caused the vehicle to completely shut down while driving with no warning. That was replaced at no cost but I had to do my own research for the repair and that issue could have caused an accident with injuries or death. Because Lincoln determined that my particular VIN is not eligible then the cost is on me, again a major safety issue that could have caused injury and death when the brakes barely stopped. I know I cannot recover money for own repair but I feel Ford/Lincoln should not be able to get away with making their own determinations of what vehicles should be covered when they are at fault for building a poor. Substandard product. I do not want other owners to be railroaded by this policy.

14 Brakes Failed problem of the 2008 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 07/29/2016

There has recently been a recall on Ford/Lincoln trucks for the brake boosters being bad. I have a 2008 Lincoln Mkx and my brake booster started making a noise last week. I took it in to a mechanic and he told me the brake booster was failing but it may not go out for 6 month or even years. You never know. However, I would like to know if someone is looking into this or if I can request this since I have not yet received a notice for my 2008 Lincoln Mkx and it is a faulty part.

17 Brakes Failed problem of the 2012 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 11/05/2014

I noticed a few days ago when I was in traffic my brakes didn't want to hold. I pressed really hard and only then did my car stopped. I took it to a mechanic and he checked it out and said my brakes looked great. Two days ago I was driving and my car just shut off and the engine light came on. I took it to the Ford dealer ito have it checked out. I was told it was a faulty value and that my brakes were fine. When I went to leave the dealer my car shut off in the middle of the highway and my brakes failed I was thankful that there were no cars in front of me. I immediately turned around and went back to the dealer. The manager came and checked it out and he said the booster part of the brakes were defected and my car was still under warranty. The car is now in the shop. I noticed when I checked online that others have had the same issues. My fear was having an accident!.

18 Brakes Failed problem of the 2012 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 10/08/2014

Same as previous complaint I pasted below. The car in front of me braked and my brakes were not responding the pedal was locked then went soft resulting in a very close call as I almost hit the car in front of me because I couldn't get the brakes to engage. Air hissing when I pressed break pedal, I am taking the car in to the dealership tomorrow. Very dangerous defect in brakes, should be considered for a recall as it could easily have resulted in a collision and injury. 20 Brakes Failed problem of the 2012 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 03/04/2014

I drive a Lincoln 2012 Mkx. As I was driving down the road coming up to a major intersection my brakes failed. After vigorously pumping the brakes, I was finally able to come to a safe stop without an accident. As it turned out, the brakes had a defected power booster and I had to have this replaced. I have been in touch with Lincoln and besides offering me an extra warranty they could not assist with getting me into another vehicle. I have had issues with this vehicle since it was purchasednew. The stick shift had to be replaced due to transmisson issue and not going into park, back hatch issues, software issues, radio issues, and the most recently a power steering hose leak, then this issue with the brakes. After the last issue I lost any comort level in the reliability of this vehicle.

21 Brakes Failed problem of the 2007 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 08/02/2013

Our vehicle was involved in a rear end crash while stopped at a pedestrain cross walk. The visual damage to our Lincoln Mkx was the exhaust system and rear bumper. The non-visual damage was the brake power booster. The power surge from the rear end impact while the brakes were engaged caused the brake power booster to fail. Both my mechanic and the local Ford dealer confirm that the failure of the brake system was caused by the damage related to the rear end impact in the accident. The local Ford dealer has seen multiple vehicles brake power boosters fail due to rear end collisions yet the insurance company denyed my claim for repair to this system. The failure of this system is a very hazardous condition as it is extremely difficult to brake the vehicle with out this system working correctly.

22 Brakes Failed problem of the 2008 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 09/11/2012

While driving my vehicle I applied the brakes. The brake pedal became very stiff and the vehicle was not slowing down. I stepped harder on the brake pedal and the vehicle finally slowed down and came to a complete stop. I pulled over the side of the road and when I pressed on the brake pedal it went to the floor slowly and a high pitched sound came from the engine compartment. I turned the engine off and checked the brake fluid reservoir to insure that I did not have a leak. I started the engine again and headed to my home. Everything worked normally. I told my wife to not use the car and to use our other vehicle. I called ahead to the dealer for service and brought the vehicle in. When they called me they said the brake boost had failed. They changed it and checked the brakes and the vehicle was working correctly. I moved to florida and the brake boost has failed again. This is after approximately 20,000 miles. The same symptoms as the previous failure. This is disconcerting because the replacement unit failed as well leading me to believe there are potential disasters out there.
