39 Electrical System problem of the 2006 Lincoln Navigator

Failure Date: 07/09/2022

Fuel gauge says zero miles to empty and will not take any gas more than a few gallons before kicking pump off. Gauge shows it's over heating but if you turn ignition off and turn right back on it resets and is fine. Codes come back saying nothing about fuel or cooling, but only something about speed control in the hub. Sounds like an electrical issue but no where to be found.

40 Electrical System problem of the 2012 Lincoln Navigator

Failure Date: 06/06/2022

Vehicle randomly downshifts at speed causing sudden and jarring loss of speed. Vehicle will eventually and intermittently flash a service wrench error, speedometer stops working, and displays "000 miles to empty" message. Diagnosed at the dealer as a failing molded lead frame. There was extended warranty coverage to 150,000 miles due to this being a know faulty part but my vehicle was over the mileage. I learned from the dealer servicing the vehicle that a software update--rather than replacement of the faulty part--under TSB 13-6-8 was performed by another dealership that I purchased the vehicle from. This "software update" was not disclosed to me nor did it show up on carfax or any service records for the vehicle. The software update merely masked the problem until the problem gets worse. Thankfully, I didn't experience violent downshifting at highway speeds that others have reported but have had the violent downshifting at 45mph and below, which still is a major safety issue. When I searched the VIN prior to purchasing the vehicle, no recalls were open because the software update closed it. I contacted Lincoln to report that violent downshifts occurred eventually even after the software update and the part should have been replaced in 2019. I was told by the Lincoln rep that there was nothing Lincoln would do because it was just a "customer satisfaction program" rather than an all out recall and it was outside the extended coverage.

41 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Lincoln Navigator

Failure Date: 04/02/2022

When in park, vehicle fails to stay parked in some instances. For example, SUV has rolled forward (while in park): when parking on an incline or while unloading items from trunk, resting against bumper caused it to roll ahead and hit closed garage door in the garage, or when leaning on the SUV body outside vehicle it can disengage from park and start moving while shifter stays in p position. Emergency break stops movement. We started noticing the issue Jan 2022 and took it to Lincoln for service on 02/25/22 to investigate (after multiple accounts, same concern). They found no recognizable problem, stating vehicle might not have been in park to begin with. No parts were removed; only a visual & functional assessment. Paid an inspection bill with no resolution to safety concern. However, it re-occurred on 4/2/22. Because the concern is intermittent and cannot be replicated on demand it’s harder to predict when SUV will move. Using the emergency parking break as a safety back-up for now. Vehicle is available for further inspection. To date, no major damage caused. Yet, forgetting the manual break could result in a terrible situation at any time. All instances of rolling away have occurred after driver exited the vehicle. Level parking surfaces are not always available. Probably unrelated to the safety issue, there are strange electric bugs. Radio will turn on randomly while driving; tailgate will open on its own when SUV is parked. However, no warning messages have displayed for any of the safety or electrical issues described.

42 Electrical System problem of the 2008 Lincoln Navigator

Failure Date: 01/13/2022

Turning signals don't work. I bought this used 2008 Lincoln Navigator with the written text on my phone that said the used car lot took the vehicle to their mechanic and he said he had fixed the problem. I called him (the mechanic) upset and said the used car lot said he fixed the problem. He said he didn't say that; the signals could not be fixed without certain parts (computer parts) that are not available from anywhere. The parts are not being made and the re-conditioned parts are not available from re-conditioned businesses. I did sign an "as is" bill of sale with the understanding they would fix the signals. I have saved those text on my cells phone. They initially took responsibility of the defected signals by asking the mechanic to replace the signal arm. That didn't fix the problem. If they did this to me, they would do it to others. Now I have an unsafe vehicle that I should not drive. I also took this vehicle to a Lincoln dealership who confirmed what their mechanic stated.

43 Electrical System problem of the 2018 Lincoln Navigator

Failure Date: 04/11/2021

The rear backup camera is not working when you put the vehicle in reverse. I was told it was an issue with the camera, they replaced the camera - which I paid for - and its still not working! then they said its not the camera - again, I paid for a new camera, and they still have not been able to fix my vehicle. Today is sept 22, they have had my car since sept 1!!!! they've had it 3 weeks and have not been able to fix it! I did some research and found that the 2020 and 2021 Lincoln aviators have this problem and have been recalled. Someone also needs to recall the Navigator cause its also having this problem! here is the recall info for the aviator: vehicles recalled: 2020 and 2021 Lincoln aviator the problem: the video feed from the backup camera might not display when the SUV is in reverse. The fix: dealerships will update the image processing module software, free of charge. How to contact the manufacturer: owners may contact Ford at 800-392-3673. Nhtsa campaign number: not available yet. The Ford reference number for this recall is 21c09.

44 Electrical System problem of the 2020 Lincoln Navigator

Failure Date: 01/10/2021

We've had this vehicle for a little less than two months. The app started sending notifications about the car going into deep sleep and needing to conserve battery within a week after purchase. We were unable to use remote unlock or start. Jan 10, it was dead after sitting overnight and needed to be jump started. After that, the running boards were stuck one up and one down all day. The next day it needed to be jumped again but after that time, all warning lights were on, running boards did not work at all. Took the car to the dealership, they didn't find anything wrong but charged it up. When we came to retrieve it, it wouldn't start. It's been seven days and they are still unable to find an actual issue.

47 Electrical System problem of the 2013 Lincoln Navigator

Failure Date: 09/26/2020

While driving on access road about 45 mph the car jolted very hard causing me to nearly lose control completely. The speedometer went to zero and it seemed liked the transmission downshifted to 1st gear then it wouldn't move. I pulled over and checked under and all around car and turned it off and restarted it. It seemed fine for about 2 miles then did same thing. I turned car off and called tow guy to take it home.

48 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Lincoln Navigator

Failure Date: 06/26/2020

Over the past few weeks the air conditioner blower on my 2015 Lincoln Navigator would just stop working. We took it to the firestone complete auto care and they said it needed freon. $300 later, I was back on the road. But a few hours later, the blower stopped working again. I took it back and after investigation found a "special service message ssm47797" a poor electrical connection at the blower motor speed control. Firestone said the connection had "burned up" and it should be covered under my certified used car warranty - but when I called woodhouse Lincoln Mercury, they said it was "just a ssm" and it would not be covered. In addition, they could not even take a look at it until "next week sometime". I told the person on the phone that I needed to go to kansas city for the weekend, but he did not care. Firestone is fixing it, but it is $530. My question is, if something is able to burn up under the hood of my car - and the dealership knows about it, shouldn't there be a recall notice sent to all Lincoln owners?.

49 Electrical System problem of the 2004 Lincoln Navigator

51 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Lincoln Navigator

Failure Date: 04/17/2019

A few months ago, around 65,000 miles, I was driving on the highway when I noticed a loss of power as I was trying to accelerate. At that same time, the check engine icon started flashing. I was unable to accelerate until the check engine icon stopped flashing. Everything went back to normal and I didn't experience this problem again for a couple of months. This would occasionally happen whenever I'd try to overtake another car on the highway. These days at 78,000 miles, the vehicle intermittently runs rough.

52 Electrical System problem of the 2018 Lincoln Navigator

Failure Date: 03/17/2019

Back liftgate opens randomenly. Dealer has replaced two parts involved and happened again yesterday. Seems to be when you shut one of the front doors firmly and lock the car w keyfob twice. I suspect the air pressure from shutting door and keyfob action cause this. But problem persists. Car was stationary every time.

58 Electrical System problem of the 2017 Lincoln Navigator

Failure Date: 11/24/2017

F the turn signal control arm is moved partially in any direction, and immediately moved into the fully opposite direction, the turn signals will be disabled. If the operator adjusts the high beams, or simply makes a mistake when trying to signal, (by selecting the wrong direction first) the turn signal will not operate even though the control arm is in the fully locked position. Lincoln service states that when they connect the vehice to the computer, it shows that the blinkers are active, even though they are visually not blinking. They further stated that the issue exisits on all vehicles.

60 Electrical System problem of the 2008 Lincoln Navigator

Failure Date: 08/28/2016

The SUV got a check engine light and wrench symbol(power train) and began to jerk after stops at red lights or stop signs while heading to the expressway. It lost power completely, while in motion and nearly caused an accident on the belt pkwy. I had the gas pedal fully pressed down and couldn't accelerate suddenly. I had to drive with on foot on the brake and the other on the gas to keep control of the SUV and was afraid if be rear ended or worst at high speed. I got off at the nearest exit on the way home and shut it off. I let it rest a few minutes and cut back on and it drove like normal with low rpm's and a constant shuttering or pinging feeling and sound. I brought the SUV to jamaica NY Lincoln/Ford service center who took the SUV for close to 1 month and gave it back stating "it needs a throttle body". Nothing else is wrong with it. It's not a transmission issue, or electronical issue its the engine. They also said alot of Ford vehicles have had the same issues and it was a faulty throttle body. I've changed this SUV's engine, tranny, converters, spark plugs, coils, etc etc etc. The service records from purchase date, year to date are so long it's stunning! every 90 days it has had to be serviced for some reason or another. I found my self out of it for 1 month every quarter of a year. That's ridiculous!!! Lincoln/Ford hasn't done much to help me and I've purchased several vehicles from the same dealership. Smh. I've went to private mechanics who believe it's the tranny again, and some lean years the throttle body unit. Nobody can even give me an exact answer as to what it is and a solution to my SUV nightmare! I've already wasted $500. 00. Anyway you can assist me or help me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for listening.

61 Electrical System problem of the 2006 Lincoln Navigator

Failure Date: 07/15/2016

"clock spring recall" my air bag exploded when I started the vehicle and put it in drive. Vehicle filled with smoke, received gashes to my left arm and watch was blown off my wirst. Had car towed to Ford dealer. They determined crack in wire on clock spring caused the air bag to explode . Ford recalled f150's and Lincoln mark lt for the clock spring and paid for damages on a Lincoln Navigator that had the air bag explode just like my experience due to the clock spring. Refer to NHTSA id 10569242. Ford motor CO has denied any help for damages.

65 Electrical System problem of the 2010 Lincoln Navigator

Failure Date: 07/27/2015

The running boards of the 2010 Lincoln Navigator malfunctioned at 78000 miles. The automatic running boards began retracting and lowering up and down while vehicle is in motion (at speeds from to 70 mph) and while completely stopped with engine off, making loud grinding sounds. Upon exiting the vehicle on the drivers side the running board retracted while my right foot was still on the board, locking my foot in between the running board and the lower body of the vehicle causing me to fall forward on the pavement in my driveway which is on a semi-steep incline. The running board lowered and I pulled my foot free and it began to lower and raise multiple times making a loud grinding noise. I then had to manually raise the board and shut off the auto function of the running boards to keep this issue from reoccurring. I notified this incident to the local Ford dealer and was told that the only option I had was to replace the motors. I was not informed why this may have occurred nor was I given any options for medical care or concern due to my vehicle being 5 years old and not under any extended warranty.
