The contact owns a 1996 Lincoln Town Car. The contact stated while the vehicle was turned on and he was shifting the vehicle from park(p) to drive(d), with his foot on the brake pedal, the vehicle lunged forward at high speed. The contact stated that the acceleration was extreme. The contact observed smoke coming from the rear tires as the vehicle accelerated. The contact was able to safely stop the vehicle after approximately 50 feet but had to depress the brake pedal with force. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was not turned off but was shifted to park(p). The contact had tested and shifted the vehicle from park (p), drive (d), neutral (n) and reverse (r) and the vehicle reacted normally to each gear change. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.

The contact owns a 2005 Lincoln Town Car. While parked, the vehicle suddenly accelerated to the highest possible rpm and then stopped. A few days later, the vehicle accelerated again on its own while driving between 1-15 mph. The contact was depressing the brake pedal as hard as possible and steering the vehicle around traffic when she struck another vehicle and struck a parked vehicle. The entire front end was damaged, including the radiator, battery, engine block, and windshield, however, the front end of the passenger side was the most affected. A police report was filed. The contact has pictures of the car and reports from witnesses. She sustained injuries to her left ankle, left wrist, left knee, in addition to hematoma. The powertrain was unknown. Consumer stated that while driving his vehicle, vibration was felt in the accelerator pedal and in the seat. There is also a moaning noise that went along with the vibration. Consumer did everything to remedy the problem, but problem on vehicle still exists. The dealer told the consumer that they have already done everything in their power, and it's now up to the Ford service engineer to take on the issue. The engineer told the consumer that everything is in acceptable limits and that they would not do anything else for the vehicle.

The height of the brake pedal is adjustable. When the brake pedal is low, the brake pedal and accelerator pedal can be depressed at the same time. The has happened twice. As a result the consumer grazed a tree causing damage to the vehicle. The dealer called the consumer to raise the brake pedal of the vehicle.

The spacing between the brake pedal and gas pedal is too close. Driver's foot gets caught between the pedals when changing from one pedal to the other. This resulted in vehicle crashing into another vehicle while pulling into a parking space due to faiilure to use brake pedal.
Driver put vehicle in drive gear and turned the steering wheel to the right. Vehicles engine rev up to full throttle, and accelerated at a high speed causing an accident. This resulted in the driver being injured. Ts.

When starting vehicle and putting foot on gas pedal vehicle will take off like a rocket. Please provide any furhter information.
Brake pedal and accelerator pedal are too close together. Consumer states that when pushing down on the brake pedal, the side of his foot hits the accelerator and the car may move forward. Consumer has had two close calls. Consumer is concerned with the design, to prevent touching the pedal.
Brake pedal and the gas pedal are too close. Sometimes when applying brakes consumer's foot hits gas pedal, and vehicle is hard to stop. Please provide any further information.
Whenever pressure is applied to accelerator pedal, vehicle would stall out or die. Took to dealer & informed anti-slip would dethrottle engine. Would happen in traffic. Took to another dealer & informed the same thing. Anti-slip keeps wheel from spinning on wet pavement.

While in park the speedometer and mileage go up when the accelerator pedal is depressed.
The brake pedal and accelerator pedal are too close together and the brake pedal, when pressed, is lower than the accelerator pedal. The design of these components has caused sudden acceleration.
Accelerator pedal and brake pedal are too close together. When applying brakes pedal goes down lower than accelerator pedal. Will accidently touch accelerator pedal when applying brakes. Has caused consumer to surge forward and rear end another vehicle. *akfailures have been at stopped positions. The brake pedal goes below the accelerator pedal and consumers foot winds up depressing it also. Consumer has a 2000 model and experiences no problems.
Vehicle shook upon presing gas pedal, but not to the floor.
Consumer's foot sticks on the accelerator pedal due to inadequate clearance between the floor and the upper partition.
