After starting the car while parked, I stepped on the brake and put the car in drive, as soon as I put the car in drive the engine accelerated without me putting my foot on the gas pedal and I had to stand on the brake, the car jumped forward, I jammed the car into neutral and the engine still continued to accelerate to a high rpm, I had to shut the engine off to get it to stop accelerating. I had several children in the car and we almost hit the car parked in front of us. This is the fourth time in 4 months that this has happened. I took the car to the Ford dealership to be diagnosed the last time this happened, they found nothing! I pointed out the class action lawsuit for unintended acceleration problems for fords between the years 2002 and 2010 but they denied knowing anything about this problem and told me they would have to duplicate this problem before they would do anything about it. Obviously they could not duplicate this and I am now left with a dangerous car and Ford denies this is a problem.

Within the past 8 months, I have had three (3) incidents: two of which occurred after stopping at a stop sign; when starting to accelerate, the car suddenly jumped into passing gear without warning! one of those incidents almost caused me to rear-end the car in front of me. The most recent occurrence happened as I was putting the car into my garage. Again, it rapidly accelerated, causing me to run into the back of my garage (resulting in major damage to my brick home)! after the second occurrence, I took the car to my dealer, where they told me there had been no recalls; at which time they checked it out and told me they had found nothing wrong.

We had a sudden unintended acceleration of our car. We were traveling west on the new york state thruway (I-90) towards niagara falls. As we exited into a rest area, suddenly the engine raced as if the gas pedal were floored. The driver pressed on the brake very very hard, and the car almost stopped, moving forward slowly. The driver then shifted into neutral, and the engine slowedand we stopped--about 50 feet beyond where the sudden unintended acceleration started. We turned the engine off, and examined the floormat--it was not in a position to press the gas pedal. We checked under the hood, and did not find anything that seemed related to causing the sudden unintended acceleration. We later checked if the driver could press the gas and brake pedals at the same time, but on our car they are so far apart that this is not possible. We think it is possible that this occurrence was due to inadequate shielding, and inadequate programming, of the gas pedal computer which sends signals to the acceleration system. At the time of the incident, we had a gps, cell phones, and game machines in operation, and the rest area we were pulling into had wifi. Thus, the acceleration system computer was receiving many signals from "noise. " if they came in a certain sequence, it would cause an sua, unless the car had adequate coding to prevent that occurrence. The fix for this would be to either hard wire the gas pedal, or to put adequate programming to prevent stray signals from being accepted. We would like to see one of these fixes implemented.

On the ventura freeway in heavy traffic on Nov 6,2008. Driving at about 30 miles per hour, traffic made it necessary to stop. The car, as it has done before, had unintended acceleration. This was about the fifth or sixth time it has happened in one year of my owning the car. The other times it happened, I had brought it back to the dealer and they replaced transmission parts the first time but thereafter could not determine the problem in fact they had given me a type of computer to attach while I was driving so that if it did happen it would record some facts that would help them determine the cause. This computer stayed on for about two weeks a couple of months ago but it did not happen at that time. The week before Nov 6, 2008, the computer, was again put on my car. So now I was standing on the brake in the middle lane of heavy traffic with the car surging ahead with unintended acceleration. It happened again when I got off the freeway and the same unintended acceleration which could have caused terrible destruction of life and or property had to be constrained by me standing on the brake and pressing a button on the computer to register the effect. This Town Car is extraordinarily dangerous, I have had it back many times for the same problem, and I do believe it cannot be repaired and should not be driven, as to the pain and suffering it may very well be responsible for if it cannot be stopped.
Unintended acceleration. It happened about 6 times in 4000 miles. Transmission overhaul one time, next time dealer could not find any thing wrong, however it happened two days later and I will bring it back to dealer for the third time about the same problem. Whoever experiences this difficulty don't accept anyone telling you the accelerator was being pushed or the carpet was sticking. I have driven probably more than a million miles I know unintended acceleration. Period.
Vehicle speed control. . . Sudden acceleration.

After hearing c. The recent sudden acceleration with Toyota vehicles, I am prompted to write you again regarding the sudden acceleration with my 2002 Lincoln towncar. While attempting to drive up my driveway, and park in my garage, traveling c. 5 mph, the car suddenly sounded as if were revving and lurched forward. The agent sent from my insurance company, recorded 35 feet of skid marks. Brakes did not work and my vehicle and I crashed into my den. I did report this incident to Ford and to you at the time. My cousin, in illinois, had the same make and year automobile, and had the incident occur three times. It is a frightening occurrence and one feels totally helpless. What can be done to eliminate this from our driving experience?.

I was stopping at a stop sign, with my foot on the brake when the car suddenly accelerated to 2,500 rpms. I was able to stop the car with the brake and avoid hitting the car in front of me, but even after stopping the car it was still running at 2,500 rpms for another couple of seconds before then returning to idle at 500rpm. This happened two more times that day and it's very scary to say the least. Each time it happened I was braking the car (luckily) and was able to brake harder and stop the car. After stopping the car the engine was still racing for a few seconds.

2004 Lincoln towncar has had four cases of sudden unintended acceleration. Have taken auto to dealer on first three occasions. They say brakes are ok. Sudden acceleration in my opinion is not related to brakes. I've already had one accident. Cost $7000.
