Front Air Bag Problems of Lincoln Town Car

I was recently in a car accident in baltimore, MD. And when I got hit my air bags didn't deploy even though my car took a huge hit to the front drivers side. I would like to find out why this didn't happen.

The contact owns a 2001 Lincoln Town Car. While driving 65 mph, the air bag on the driver's side deployed without warning. After the deployment, the driver's side seat sustained damage on the left side. The contact was not injured. He called the manufacturer and they stated that the air bag module was already replaced under the recall remedy; therefore, no compensation would be provided. The failure mileage was 56,600 and current mileage was 56,637.

The contact owns a 2001 Lincoln Town Car. While driving 45 mph, the driver's side frontal air bag deployed without warning or impact. The failure mileage was 113,480 and current mileage was 113,500. Updated 09/15/08 update 09/18/08.

: the contact stated while driving 30 mph on a dry highway, another vehicle hit the contact's vehicle head on causing extensive damage to the front end. Neither the passenger nor driver's side front air bag deployed. There were minor injuries sustained and a police report was taken. Seat belts were worn during the incident and functioned properly.

: the contact stated while driving 55mph, the vehicle was hit from the rear causing it to hit a metal fence. Neither air bag deployed. The dealership advised the contact to notify Ford motor company, which has not been done. The vehicle had extensive damage. Seat belts were in use, however injuries were sustained and there was a police report filed.

In 2003 Lincoln Town Car when the airbag deployed it shot off the round silver Lincoln emblem which severely lacerated my nose. Thank god it did not take out an eye. I have noticed on the newer models that the emblem is now embedded in the material so it cannot fly off and cause injury.

Frontal collision 50mph, none of the airbags deployed on my 2002 Lincoln towncar. My insurance CO. Said car is total loss accident & not repairable, when I contacted to my local Ford/Lincoln dealer & the company itself, I ask my car is total loss & none of the airbags deployed, they said someone will get back to you soon, after 6 months no one get back to me, but insurance CO paid the car.

Drivers air bag automatically deployed causing damage to the seat.

Brake failure. First time I was able to stop. My husband next drove the car and could not find any fault with brakes. The car was driven to new orleans with no other problems except it had a tendency to hydroplane during a heavy rain. Several days later he was preparing to make a left turn at an intersection. The brakes failed to hold and he bumped the car ahead which hit another which hit another. No injuries but damage to two of the vehicles. Car was returned to superior Lincoln to have the brakes checked and to have rear bumper repaired. They had to replace the rear plastic bumper and stated that they could not find any problems with the brakes. We picked up the car on 8/14/01 and after testing the brakes while driving home everything seemed o. K. That night while driving from a 4th floor parking garage the brakes failed completly and we headon crashed into a concrete block wall. There were 4 people in the car (all had their seat belts fastened) and all sustained bruises and contusions. Fortunatly there were no broken bones but we are still nursing various aches and pains. The 2 people in the rear seat suffered from wiplash and seat belt bruises and sore chests. One thing that worked was the front air bags that saved my wife and I from any further injury.

Consumer was sitting at a traffic stop light and was waiting to make a left hand turn in a left hand lane when another vehicle veered into left lane and hit consumer's vehicle head- on. Upon impact, dual airbags didn't deploy, and consumer was hurt. Dealership aware of problem.

While sitting and waiting to make a left turn, vehicle was hit on the driver's side. Consumer hit her head, and the air bag didn't deploy.

Abs system failed causing vehicle to spin out and tire blowout, loss of control resulting in accident ( no deployment of air bags during collision and seat belts did not restraint properly), injuries due to defects. Yh.

When rearended, the two front seatbacks broke and reclined on there own, also no deployment of driver's and passenger's air bags during rearend accident, resulting in injuries.
