The contact owns a 2005 Lincoln Town Car. Intermittently, the vehicle surged while driving at low speeds. The vehicle has been to the dealer approximately 9 times, and 6 for the surging problem. But the failure still persists. The current mileage was 8,500 and failure mileage was 3,440. Updated 09/24/08. The dealer informed the consumer there was a major defect with the transmission. 1996 Lincoln Town Car. When the horn was pushed it would stick and not turn off quickly. The consumer had taken the fuse out. The dealership said that they would have to replace the horn and the air bag because it was attached to it. There were no other problems with the vehicle.

The stereo system has been replaced and the new system has the same failure. The stereo button lights do not come on at night and the stereo itself does not stay on for the required 10 minutes after vehicle shut-off (until doors are opened). The automatic door locks no longer lock after car is in drive. The horn no longer honks when the auto-key lock is activated.

Electrical short in the horn pad switch and wiper switch, while in for repair vehicle fire due to electrical failure.
Failure of the horn, horn does not work in cold weather. Tt.
Material covering horn buttons too firm, causing difficulty depressing horn in emergency situations.
Horn/airbag packing gets hard in cold weather, leaving horn inoperative.
Air conditioner went out and clock spring went bad because airbag shorted out. Safety feature shorted out horn and cruise control.
In cold temperature horn pad will become very stiff and hard, making it impossible for driver to sound horn. Problem reported to dealer, but not able to be fixed.
Horn requires excessive pressure to actuate, and must be actuated at a tiny horn sign embossed in component. In a panic situation it would be extremely difficult to sound warning.

The space used to push on the horn is too hard, and also too small to apply quickly enough. Dealer says it's the design.
