Windshield Wiper/washer Problems of Lincoln Town Car

The contact owns a 2001 Lincoln Town Car. While driving 65 mph in heavy rain, the windshield wipers activated and then suddenly failed. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent and occurred on three occasions. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 96,000.

The contact owns a 2001 Lincoln towncar. The windshield wipers, air conditioning and heater have failed. The speedometer sporadically fails. The abs light was consistently illuminated on the instrument control panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealership for inspection. The technician stated that the wipers needed to be replaced at his expense. No repairs were made. The current mileage was approximately 100,000. The failure mileage was approximately 89,000.

The windshield wipers went out in the middle of a snow storm. The consumer had to make it home without any wipers. The manufacturer made the repair to the windshield wipers sometime ago and stated there would be no second repair.

While traveling in rainy weather conditions windshield wipers stopped operating. Dealer notified, and informed consumer that vehicle was not covered under a manufacturer's recall. Wipers stopped when consumer selected the left turn signal, dealer replaced the multifunction switch at no charge to the consumer.

Brake pedal will fade out and not hold, consumer has to pump brake to get vehicle to stop, took vehicle to dealer and the master cylinder was replaced however, the same day problem reoccurred, while on the highway consumer stepped on brakes and pedal went to the floor, consumer had to pump brakes again. Consumer states brakes needs to be pumped while driving on the highway, consumer was informed by a Ford specialist that the fade was normal for this vehicle,also the mass airflow sensor was replaced, the windshield wipers/washers were replaced,the windshield was also replaced, and the engine head gaskets were replaced.

When windshield wiper blades are running in rain, they start going slower/ slower and slower until they just stop. Car has been in repair shop twice for wipers, and problem still exists.

Due to design windshield wipers are not fast enough, and visibility is greatly reduced when precipitation is heavy. The consumer says the wiper problem is a safety hazard during heavy rain or storm.

Windshield wipers failed to operate properly in inclement weather, affecting visibility.

While raining the right wiper deposits rain in line of sight and with wipers on fast speed under heavy rain it is impossible to see.
