I have a 1997 Mazda 626 lx. The transmission failed right at 70,000 miles. It cost me $2,600 to get it fixed. It was not under warranty so I had to pay for it. I checked around and have found numerous others who have also had transmission failures under 70,000 miles. The transmission repair shop said they get a ton of these cars with transmission problems. I feel Mazda should compensate us for these repairs because of their faulty transmission.

Dear sir/madam, after I had my transmission problem I contacted with transmission repair shop but they could not fix the transmission. The main problem with the transmission is od light flashes and the transmission fails to work properly. I have heard that this is a general problem for Mazda 626. Even on the internet many Mazda 626 owners complain about this problem. I know the mileage of my car is high but even for the low mileages people encounter with the similar transmission problems for Mazda 626. If this is a general problem why doesn`t the Mazda company recall and fix the problem? this problem costs too much money for the customers and maybe some dangerous situations on highways or busy traffic. There have been an overwhelming number of complaints from Mazda 626 owners with this same problem. My transmission has failed twice and is about to go into its 3rd rebuild in 18 months. Please, please just read this page of this message board and you will find an incredibly high number of owners reporting the same problem. Transmission failure on this automobile at 90,000, and again at 140,000 miles.
Transmission failure,motor mount failures,overheating problems. Brake line failure. Ever since I purchased my Mazda 626 used from a dealership I have had one problem after another. When I purchased the car it only had 63,000 miles. Mazda should be ashamed of the kind of cars they put out on the road.
Automatic transmission failed twice and had to be replaced twice: first at 28596 miles then at 56449 miles.
Transmission failed.
While driving at 40 to 50 mph transmission jerked violently. When the vehicle changed gears very hard and with a thump. Vehicle was diagnosed as transmission failure. Consumer replaced the transmission once, but problem recurred.
Transmission totally failed in traffic, locked up, tow caused $300. 00 damage to rear bumper, had to be dragged out of traffic, wheels would not roll, repaired under warranty, transmission replaced with a factory rebuild.
Consumer stated that while driving transmission failed, causing the fluid to burn, also vehice was shifting hard, the transimission was replaced for the second time, however vehicle is still experiencing same problems.
