6 Battery Dead problem

Failure Date: 10/22/2018

When the car is stationary and in park the engine doesn't completely shut down, the radio anddash lights stay on. Also the doors do not lock because the car will beep consistentlyand I fear the battery may die. I have to move the car in and out of park and then move the gear shift left and right quickly multiple times and then maybe it will cut offcompletely. Sometimes it takes me up to 10 minutes and 8-10 tries of moving my car out of park and back to park and move the gear shift left and right to get my car to shut off completely. I know the problem is the gear shifter. There is a sensor that tells it when it's in park, and in my car it stopped working. There should have been a re-call because according to several forums there have been many complaints regarding this specific issue with this Mazda Cx-5 make and model.

Happening more frequently, the car will not shut off: engine shuts down, but center console (radio console) does not shut off even when in park. Starting the car up again, shifting to another gear, putting back into park and then attempting to turn off again usually fixes issue but can take up to 10x to accomplish! if you don't get the radio to shut off, the battery will die.

When I place my gear shifter into the park position, the engine turns off, but radio remains on. I then have to turn the car back on, jiggle the gear shifter again, then everything will turn off. It is occurring more often and I'm worried that I will be stranded somewhere and not be able to completely turn the car off.
