I was entering a traffic circle when I slid slightly as there was some ice on the roadway and came to rest against a curb, bumped lightly. There was no damage to the vehicle, but the entire driver side curtain airbags as well as the driver seat airbag deployed. The speed at which I was traveling was roughly 10 mph or less. My wheels never hit hard nor did they leave the pavement.

The contact owned a 2024 Mazda Cx-5. The contact stated that while the contact's daughter was driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact's vehicle was rear-ended. The front driver's side seat belt restraint did not function as intended. The contact's daughter was pushed forward out of the front driver's seat without restraint. The contact stated that the driver's side headrest detached due to the impact, and the back of the front driver's side seat fractured and detached. In addition, the air bag did not deploy. The vehicle was towed to a local tow yard. The vehicle was condemned as a total loss by the insurance company. A police report was filed. The contact's daughter was transported by ambulance to the local medical center. The contact's daughter sustained injuries to the right arm and right leg, severe back pain, massive headaches, and whiplash. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.

Its been few months its giving me air bag issue sign in my car.
I was driving as normal and the passenger side airbags deployed with a cause. I was driving about 25mph. I didn’t hit anything; no event occurred that would have caused the air bag to deploy. I took the car to a dealer and they recorded the event log which showed a crash but the car clearly did not get into an accident.
My vehicle was damaged by an as yet determined electrical fire seemingly having originated in the passenger door speaker components.

While traveling on an interstate highway, my passenger side curtain airbag suddenly deployed without any warning while I was driving. There was no collision or impact, there was no debris on the road, or any significant bumps in the road. There was a very loud explosive sound and then my entire passenger side was covered in blue. The sound was so loud that it left my ears ringing and left me badly shaken up. I lost all visibility out of my passenger side as all of my side windows and mirrors were obscured, and I knew there was traffic in that lane along side of me. It felt very dangerous and I had to rely on my lane change sensors to safely pull to the side to assess any damage. There was no evident sign of any impact to my car. All of the glass was intact, there were no scratches, dents or missing paint. The airbag fully deployed for no apparent reason and I was extremely lucky that I was not injured and that my reaction did not cause an accident when this happened. The car was taken to a Mazda dealership to assess, and they did not find any damage either, but said there was no mechanical error on the part of the car, so it is still unexplained. I had it evaluated by an autobody/collision shop, again no damage was determined, their scan showed a diagnostic code that there was a "circuit short to ground".
-passenger side air bags deployed for no reason on may 19, 2025 at 1945h. -driver safety compromised due to shock, momentary loss of hearing, disorientation while driving. -other drivers safety compromised due to driver having to react, re-orient themselves and drive to safety. -culver city Mazda dealership ran diagnostic. Conclusion: air bags deployed due to pressure. No other conclusions regarding system error, software error, ignitor, sensors or vehicle impact. -police inspected vehicle at time of incident. No damage was observed or reported. -no warning lamps or messages appeared prior to passenger air bag deployment.
The airbag warning light is on. I’m concerned the airbag may not deploy in an accident. There was a recall on the airbag, but the dealership only reset the light and did not replace the airbag. I have taken my car to two different Mazda dealerships: one told me I would have to pay for the airbag replacement. The other said the airbag is functioning properly. I’m not sure which one is correct, but the warning light continues to come on. Sometimes it stays on for a couple of days; other times, it flashes on and off intermittently. The airbag light is clearly visible on the dashboard and continues to behave abnormally.

I was driving to home depot after work around 6pm pst on [xxx] and must have fallen asleep at the wheel about a. 1/4 of a mile from my house and left the road way after a turn. I hit my head so hard I had to be treated for a head injury and the car dialed 911 for me to report a crash. The airbags nor any other safety system triggered besides detecting a crash and dialing 911. My car was deemed totalled by insurance and had to go to the hospital. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Airbag light is flashing. Independent shop found code b00c1:93-8b. Ocs sensor b. Shop sent owner to dealer for inspection & repair. Charged $57. 24. Dealer found dtc b00c1 passenger seat occupant classification sensor b. Replacement cost for the part $1,110. 13, plus shop fess and tax for a total repair cost of this critical safety item would be $1,197. 29. I did not have this service performed due to the high price. This safety item should be covered by the manufacturer. I recently learned that a dealer may not sell a car with this safety issue so I want it fixed and covered by Mazda.
While driving my driver airbag warning light started blinking. When I took it to the dealership to be inspected they said the sensor for the driver airbag is in the seat cushion and was not getting enough power for it to turn on, therefore if the light is blinking the airbag is disabled and I would need to replace the entire seat cushion to fix this issue. If the airbag is disabled then I could be seriously injured in the event of an accident when the airbag does not deploy.

My air bag light warning light is constantly blinking and I took it to the dealer ship. I informed the service guy this could be a malfunction due to a recall. He only asked me to pay for an diagnostic for $175. 00. I think based on a history dated from 2004-2018 regarding air bags recalls this is a recall. I contacted Mazda 1-800-222-5500 option 11/28/2023 @ 10:00 am I reported this to Mazda vehicle claim#00156086 and they are stating it is no recall for that vehicle. I think this is a safety risk for me and Mazda needs to address this at no charge based on the history of several vehicles.
Srs airbag light went off and odb-ii reader indicated passenger side supplemental restraint module error. We called Mazda October 20,2023 as the vehicle was nearing end of warranty period for the airbags system (warranty ended October 30, 2023). Mazda stated they could get the vehicle in on November 12, 2023, which is after warranty period and we would be required to pay to fix the car. An online search quickly resulted in seeing many other people with the same model of Mazda having the same issue for the passenger seat. I called national Mazda today, December 15, 2023 and they said that the vehicle is now 45 days out of warranty and no longer their problem.

I was driving down the road and my right side curtain airbag deployed. I did let my insurance company know but was told that they couldn’t do anything for me since it was not an accident. I called the local Mazda dealership and they told me that they could inspect the vehicle but it would not be on them. That it could have been a rat that chewed on something to cause it to deploy because I was not the first owner of the vehicle. There was no other damage other than the airbag and where it came through on the side.

I work for a body shop and we took this seat out in order to replace the frame underneath. While the seat was sitting on the ground, no one near it, the airbag deployed. We have it on video. We have concerns about replacing the seat/airbag if it's going to randomly deploy and potentially injure our technician or the customer. According to Mazda, there are no known recalls related to this and the customer is responsible for buying a new seat and airbag. I see online that other people have said this too, but they were driving the vehicle at the time it randomly deployed. I'm wondering if there are other complaints regarding this/a way for us to get Mazda to replace this since it seems like a part defect.
The contact owns a 2017 Mazda Cx-5. The contact stated while driving 30 mph, the air bag warning light illuminated on instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the air bag connector. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred 9,000 miles later. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, who again diagnosed a failure with the air bag connector. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 24,000.
Was involved in accident on 8/12/23 with speed over 30mph at impact and not a single airbag deployed.
The contact owns a 2019 Mazda cx5. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 65 mph the "air bag" warning illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed, however the contact was not informed what the diagnoses was about and if the air bag had been replaced or repaired. The contact stated that the "air bag" warning light was no longer illuminated. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000.
Wife was 30 weeks pregnant when airbag fault displayed. Was in fact a defective driver side airbag.
Entire drivers side air bags deployed, with only the driver in the vehicle, after striking a curb, (after striking a coyote, then swerving). Front central air bag did not deploy-only the side, and then for the entire side of a four door SUV, Mazda Cx-5. Air bag slammed into neck and chest of driver nearly striking jugular with sharp impact. There does not appear to be any reason for side air bag to deploy, without front center deploying.
The contact owns a 2018 Mazda Cx-5. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was diagnosed by her husband with a dtc code reader that the passenger's side air bag sensor was faulty and the passenger's side air bag needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 54,000.
Airbags did not deploy when I crashed into a guard rail dragging for 40-50 feet.
Owner of the car was driving, baby in the back seat. Passenger side curtain airbags randomly deployed. No outside damage to the car, was not caused by an accident.
1. The airbag sensor is not working. The warning signal continually flashes. My shop had airbag system analyzed. Test results showed it is not calibrated correctly. My Mazda dealer, luther premier Mazda, said it is an electrical problem, and I will have to pay for analysis. I paid for this analysis when sallas had it diagnosed. 2. Due to problems with the windshield, I paid for a replacement myself, not knowing there was a recall. I want Mazda to install a Mazda windshield and calibrate the safety systems.
Tuesday, 5/3, I was parking my car in the new leaf grocery parking lot in aptos, CA. I pulled into the lot and made slow right into an available space. I had my foot on the accelerator, tapped down on it gently to ease into the space. My car lurched forward at such high speed that I was unable to remove my foot from the accelerator. I swerved to the right as the car went over a partition and hit another parked car on the other side of the partition. My airbag did not activate. I've replayed the experience in my mind and tried convincing myself that this could have been a matter of human error on my part. I am beyond convinced that what I experienced yesterday was a case of sudden unintended acceleration. I am concerned and afraid to drive my car now. Had circumstances been different, someone could have been killed. Had I not swerved right, I was headed to crash into a building. I called 911 and since no one was hurt there was no police report. To address questions set-out above: speed control (sudden unintended acceleration) and air bag failed my safety and the safety of others was put at risk as of yet the problem has not been reproduced however there are a great number of reports related to unintended acceleration (however not acknowledged as a problem by Mazda) I plan to have my Mazda inspected by a local dealership service center there were no warning messages or symptoms in advance of the incident occurring I've owned my Mazda for 3 years and never experienced anything like this. I have never had a car accident to date.
The contact owned a 2016 Mazda Cx-5. The contact stated while driving 35 mph, another vehicle going 110 mph crashed into the rear of the vehicle. The air bags failed to DE[ploy. The contact hit his head against the front driver's side window and he became unconscious. The contact stated upon regaining consciousness, he noticed that he was laying flat on his back as the seat had fractured. The contact also noticed that the seat belt had fractured into two. The front of the other vehicle caught on fire and the fire expanded to the rear of the contact's vehicle. The emergency units and state police patrol assisted the contact out of the vehicle through the drivers' side door. The emergency units transported the contact to the hospital, where he was informed that he had sustained head, neck and back injury. Additionally, the contact was informed that he had sustained a stroke on the left side of the body. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot, where it was totaled. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 58,000. The VIN was unavailable.
The contact owned a 2018 Mazda cx5. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at approximately 35 - 40 mph, the power steering assist and brakes failed, causing the vehicle to crash into trees. None of the air bags deploy upon impact. All of the warning lights were illuminated. The contact's wife attempted to turn off the vehicle, but it would not turn off. The fire department had to disconnect the battery to turn off the vehicle. A police report was filed. The contact's wife was later taken to the hospital for injuries sustained to her knees. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard and was not yet deemed totaled by the insurance company. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000.
The "passenger air bag is not active for passenger' warning light was constanstly showing in the dash panel even when nobody was sitting in the passenger seat nor any object was sitting on the seat. The problem was "solved" by the dealer under the car's warranty. They said something about dirty contacts in the seat wiring. Now the warning light is back and my SUV's warranty period is over.
Vehicle was on a city street traveling at 35-40 mph when the front left wheel (yokohama geolandar g91) spontaneously blew out despite not colliding with any objects or road hazards. As a result, driver side curtain and seat airbags erroneously deployed and the vehicle immediately shutoff, causing disorientation and temporary loss of hearing in one ear.
I purchased this VIN less than 24 hours ago, I was told it was certified by the dealership. . Read more...
Blind spot monitoring system warning appears on dashboard of vehicle after driving for about 50-60 miles. This occurs only when I drive >50-60 miles in one trip without shutting off my vehicle. Speed does not matter. My sensors will not work until I turn off my car and turn it back on. This started as soon as I purchased my vehicle in July 2020. 1 previous owner (lease) before I purchased the vehicle. No prior accidents. Got the vehicle at ~30,000 miles. In January 2021, I drifted off the freeway and hit a tree going 35 mph during a snow storm. It was only myself (driver) and a passenger in the front seat at the time of the incident. Both were wearing seatbelts. The seat belts locked up, but airbags never deployed for myself or the adult passenger in the front seat. Driver sustained no injuries, but the passenger smashed their knee into the glove compartment and smacked their head on the window/seatbelt holder on the side of the interior wall. The passenger was asleep during the incident, which may have explained why they did not brace themselves. One minute we were on the freeway, then we hit a slippery spot, and within seconds we were head on with a tree. Drove away to avoid the possibility of any vehicles following my path and smashing into us. Car was still driveable somehow. Car was repaired after 3 weeks at caliber collision and looked great. Sensor issue persists still, but unrelated to accident. Mentioned it to caliber collision when vehicle was being repaired and they had a Mazda service person come out with a sensor machine and they could not find the issue.
I was driving on the highway and it was raining. I lost control of the vehicle, the steering wheel was spinning uncontrollably. I was advised I most likely hydroplaned. The vehicle finally slowed down and backed into a guardrail. Only the rim of the driver side back tire was damaged. The impact felt like the impact felt when hitting a curb too hard. This did not happen on the side of the road with a shoulder, so after the tire hit the guardrail, I moved to the car to the other side of the road to be on the shoulder. Once I arrived at the other side of the road, the airbags deployed and the brake assist light came on and the police were automatically called. The car was towed and the collision shop cannot explain why the airbags deployed. I'm terrified that the airbags can deploy at any time for any reason. I am also terrified that they will not deploy when they are supposed to since they deployed at least 10-15 seconds after the impact with the guardrail occurred.
