Paint Problems of Mazda CX-5

Red soul on the cx5 having excessive paint chipping. Less than 5k miles on the car and have only had for 3 months and there's already 9 to 10 chips on the hood and driver door.

The red paint is chipping pretty bad. This car is only about 1 year old. The chipping is mostly on the hood of the car.

The paint easily chips despite it being a $1000 upgraded paint color. We were told by multiple Mazda dealers that the 7 stage paint makes it soft and easy to chip. This is not an acceptable standard, all Mazda paints should have the same performance and durability, especially if it is $1000 upgrade. I have filled dozens of these chips and appear daily, it is evident by thousands of reports online that this is a significant defect on Mazdas behalf.

Red paint chips extremely easily. Have had this car for less than one year and driven less than 5,000 miles but have lots of chips on the hood, fenders, roof and doors. Given this paint is an extra charge I would not expect this. Drove my previous vehicle for 10 years and didn't have as many paint chips as I do on this after only a year.

My 2014 cx5 paint is fading! paint should not fade in such a short time. It's literally sliding off my car!.

I have owned my car for only two months and the paint is already chipping. I have never owned a car where this happened after owning it for such a short time. I use this car for commuting to work on the highway.

The car has multiple paint chips on the hood and all the side panels including all four doors with less than 3500 miles on the odometer. It is the soul crystal red color. The small pebbles that hit it were smaller than the eye could see while driving. (tiny gravel at a highway construction site) the body shop that's repairing it said they've never seen that much damage on a car that new. It's costing my insurance company $4000 to repair. I can only speculate that the paint might be extremely thin and not adhering to the metal as it should.

With less than 30,000 miles the Mazda red soul paint began chipping. An issue Mazda has known about and refuses to address. ## #vpic# 1 - check digit (9th position) does not calculate properly #vpic#.

The paint appears to be defective. The paint chips excessively when it is being hit by road dirt/stones. Knicks and dinks from being hit by stones/dirt are all part of the driving experience. But the emphasis here is that the paint is excessively flaking off the car where the car is hit by dirt/stones. It comes off in chunks. It appears that the paint is not bonded to the metal underneath the paint.

Paint on soul red chipping and flaking very easily.

Extreme paint chipping (down to the primer/metal) on the hood primarily. Color is soul red. The paint appears to be brittle and not properly bonded to the primer/metal. Chipping started occurring the first month after purchase and has continued to gain more chips. The car is driven mostly for city commuting. This car has the most fragile paint I have ever experienced. I have purchased a new Nissan, Honda and Subaru in the past and none have had this problem. I have seen many people complaining about this issue with Mazda online, it needs to be investigated for a possible class action law suit.

Every time small road gravel hits paint, the paint chips. The car is less than a year old and has at least 20 chips on the hood. The chips are enough to eventually rust the metal. The paint color is red.

My car is 1 year old, soul red crystal metallic paint color. It has a greater than normal amount of paint chipping on the hood and other places. In observing the chipping, the paint layer appears to be very thin. I have not traveled in areas that would merit this amount of chipping. The car is garage kept when I am not driving it.

There is a defect in the red soul crystal metallic paint. The paint on my car is chipping off down to the metal. The marks are all over my car and I have owned this car less than 2 months. If you barely touch it on something the paint chips off and Mazda is claiming there is nothing wrong and it is just from road debris. My car has metal exposed all over the car which means it will rust. Mazda said I need to take it to a body shop and take car of it on my own. They changer $595 for this color and then want me to pay even more to have a full body repaint and to get the proper protection for it. I should have to do that for a brand new car. There is only one time I know exactly when/ where it came from. There is a scratch on my passenger door that happened when I was opening my door in a garage. It barely touched something and it is is scratched all the way down to the metal.
