My 2007 Cx-7 started making a loud banging noise when I started it (may 7,2012). I brought it to the dealership to have it checked out and they said it was my timing chain & actuator (vvt) and it would take $1350 to repair. I paid the money and it was fixed in a couple of days. On June 7th,2012 I started to realize that my ac was not working, but had decided to wait a little bit to have it fixed because I was still hurting financially from the last fix a month ago. Than on June 9th, 2012, I went to start my vehicle and it sounded like it was about to explode. I live in the country and the closest dealership is at least 50 miles away. So I brought it to my local repair shop and they told me my turbo is blown. The Mazda dealership wants $80 to diagnose it and $5000 to fix it (that doesn't include my towing fees and the cost of fixing the ac). I've read all of the complaints online and everyone is saying sludge build up and Mazda wants the receipts for all of their oil changes. I have all my receipts for the synthetic oil changes that I have had done to the vehicle on time (not to mention only filling the car with premium gas). Unfortunately, my car is up to 100,000 miles and they only extended the warranty to what. . . 70k? so basically I have a car that I paid $16k for and is completely useless to me only after 100k miles. From what I've researched vvt's are not supposed to go out until what 250k-300k miles? and it seems a bit ridiculous for the turbo to go out after 100k miles. . . .

This Mazda Cx-7 is at a Mazda dealer's service center right now getting the timing chain replaced, vvt issue corrected, a new turbo system to keep it from dumping tons of blue smoke from the exhaust, a/c system fixed, and there is an intermittent electrical issue as well. Not happy obviously, as these are all know issues with the vehicle. Mazda has agreed to pay for the timing chain, but the rest comes out of my pocket.

Purchased vehicle on 2/27/2011. 1) Dec 27 2011 replaced drivers headlamp. 2) 4/18/12 battery issue. Car would need jump starts randomly 3) 8/18/12 passenger headlam replaced 4) 11/5/12 battery replaced 5) 12/21/12 drivers headlamp replaced 6) 7/1/13 drivers headlamp replaced. Went to 2 different dealers to replace items. Both dealers assured me there is nothing wrong with electrical and it was just one of those things. Unfortunatley 4 headlamps and a battery within 2 years of owning the vehicle is just right.

This vehicle has caused me nothing but problems! I have had it for 3 years and it has been in the shop 4 times and this last time is the transmission at 70,000 miles! this is ridiculous. . . Mazda needs to clean up it's act. Customers should not have charges like this early on in the life of a vehicle. The vehicle is gorgeous but perhaps they should have spent a little more time putting it together as it doesn't matter for eye appealing it is when it doesn't run!.
The contact owns a 2011 Mazda Cx-7. The contact stated when he turned the vehicle on and shift into drive gear all five doors fail to lock unless he manually locked them. The failure was not diagnosed by a dealer or local mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 4,200. Updated 1/16/cn the consumer stated when the vehicle was in drive, the doors would not lock automatically.
I have my 2007 Mazda for a year and it has been at the dealership for 1/2 the time I've owned it . It is the worst vehicle that Mazda could have made it needs to be recalled because of numerous problem someone is going to lose there life. I have had so many things done to my vehicle actuator 2 oil on the engine, turbo went out, timing belt , tie rod broke and tire came off and hit a truck, air conditioning went out , the list can go on and on just got it back after being repaired and it has to go back to the shop on Friday this is the worst car in the world it is a lemon Mazda should be shame of themselves for selling this piece of crap.
The oil light and engine light on my car came on the evening of June 8, 2010, and stalled immediately. That night I poured 5 quarts of oil into my engine. The fault was eventually discovered to be a missing gasket at the oil filter cap which allowed oil to seep out of the car nonstop since my last oil change. I do not understand why the oil light only came on after there was virtually no oil left in the car. If I had been on a highway at the time, I would have had almost no warning before my engine died out on me. Now, the entire engine has to be replaced because it ran for 2 miles with oil.
I got into a Mazda forum where many costumers are having problems with the air conditioning clutch failure (seized) loosing power steering while driving. Turbo failure, causing engine overheating. Timing belt failure. I can not find any recalls about these failures.
I have a 2007 Mazda Cx-7. It is a very beautiful car but also has tons of problems. At 15000 miles it was leaking oil and they replace the engine gaskets. Then later was also leaking oil. Was told by the dealer that it was not. Took it to someone else who said it was leaking from the timing chain. Mazda resealed it. Since then my car doesn't shift properly going up and down hills. My air conditioner is hot and makes a funny sound. My car has loss of power and sound like a diesel. Overall I think that Mazda needs to step up and take care of the problems or they will not get many returning customers! something needs to be done! it was a 35000 dollar car!.
