No accidents has happened, but the low beam headlights keep blowing out. I have to have them replaced every 3-6 months. Obviously there is a problem. Upon doing search on internet, I notice several complaints on this problem. Lights are not cheap and very frustrating when you are driving at night and this happens.

Low beam headlights are very dangerous, impossible to see down the road using the low beam lights. This is very dangerous and should be a safety recall for the manufacturer to correct.

My headlights are very dim no matter which bulbs I put in. I really need to get this fixed because driving at night is a danger. I've read many Mazda Cx-7 owners have had this issue.
These headlights and taillights and even inside the car dome lights are dangerously dim. Even with lights on bright it is difficult to see.

The headlight bulbs burn out multiple times a year and on top of that, the lens have fogged up to the point that I was forced to replace the headlamps. The car was not drivable during dusk, night and dawn hours. The fog seems to be from the inside, since no amount of exterior cleaning would help. The rear break lights are also fogged up and the inside red plastic is also melted. These are some major safety issues. I have replaced the headlamps, but it seems like the new ones will have the same issue in the years to come.

My headlights keep going out. I have to put in new head light bulbs every few months. I have changed the head light bulb on both sides for an entire year. Currently my right head light is out again. I purchased another bulb and have to pay for a mechanic to fix my head light this week.
The dim lights are so dangerous and do not provide any visibility at night at all. It is very dangerous to drive and I have had so many near misses while passing other vehicles or trying to not run off the road due to not being able to see. Plus the bulbs burn out several times throughout the year and I'm constantly having to replace them. But to drive at night is so scary because I cannot see the roadway due to poor lighting from the cars headlights. And also the motors that roll down the windows are constantly going out and I have to replace those as well otherwise my window gets stuck and I can't get it to roll back up.
Every since I first purchased my car, my door handles are very loose, I've had to get the driver one fixed and it's loose again. It causes me to not be able to use that door. All my windows will not go up once I put them down and they are also making noises. My headlights are dimmer from when I first purchased the car, and I have to keep replacing them because they keep going out.
The headlights on this vehicle are completely inadequate for night driving. They do not project any where near enough light to see in unlit areas where you cannot use high beams. The light is yellow no matter what bulb you use and does not project down road at all.

Tl the contact owns a 2012 Mazda Cx-7. While operating the vehicle with the headlights turned on, the lights would not illuminate bright enough for the driver to see the road ahead. The failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified. The VIN and failure mileage were unknown.
Headlight bulbs have burned out every 6 months since we bought the vehicle in 2010. Over the past few years, the lenses have fogged up to the point headlights are worthless. Took the vehicle to the dealer, one seal is bad and the other side has melted, cost of repair is nearly $2,000. This is a safety issue and looks to be a common defect in this make/model of car. We now drive the car only during daylight. If we need to at night, we use high beams exclusively as we can't see a thing with regular headlights.
Car was purchased may 2011. I cannot remember when it all started. All repairs were made at jim ellis Mazda, cobb pkwy, marietta, GA from purchase until sept. 2017 when I became fed up. My headlamps fogged up after a year or so, they said it was normal. My headlamp bulbs had to be replaced every 3 to 6 months and, now they are replaced every 2-3 months. All bulbs were purchased from Mazda yet all bulbs died out within 3-6 months. In the past 6 months, headlamp bulbs were replaced four times. 4 nights ago, I was stopped by the police due to no headlights. The police watched while I checked day time running lights, high beams, low beams and, at 9 p. M. Late evening georgia/est, I had no running lights. I took the car to Mazda roswell the next morning. When I described the problem, stephanie johnson, service advisor manager immediately recognized the problem by inquiring how often I had to change my bulbs in the car. No service advisor had previously asked that question at the marietta service department & noone has ever advised to use only Mazda parts. Unfortunately, I received a call from Mazda 3 days later alleging that my headlight assembly was fried because I did not use Mazda manufactured bulbs. Mazda is billing me $130 for the diagnostic though they knew what the problem was without looking at the car, & is charging me $313 to replace and repair the headlight assembly when my headlights have had a shortage for 6 of the 7 years that I owned the car. I stopped using Mazda service after 6 years because not only could they not find or fix the consistent headlamp problem but Mazda service would find a repair that I had not complained of. In fact, I once took the car in & brought my own higher quality headlamps & Mazda returned my car w/o replacing the burned out bulbs. This car was defective when sold but not rising to the level of lemon law complaints.
Headlight assembly fogged up on the inside causing bad illumination at night. Although it seems to be sealed properly, moisture is still entering assembly.
Head light bulbs were burning out and could not be replaced because the clips were broken. I was told this is quite common in the design and in their infinite wisdom, Mazda refuses to sell new clips, instead, I was forced to buy two new headlight fixtures to the tune of $1200 for parts and 300 for labor. I am never buying another Mazda.
In November of 2016 my right headlight went out. Went to purchase a $100 bulb and when the mechanic went to replace it he advised the bulb could not be replaced because the housing to hold the bulb was melted. He advised this is abnormal for the housing to melt and most vehicles would not have this issue. However, he advised he has seen this happen a lot with Cx-7 vehicles. He suggested that I reach out to Mazda for assistance since this, he felt, was a defect of the headlight assembly. I called Mazda filed the complaint however the rep set expectations for a call back that I never received. Fast forward, the left headlight assembly is doing the same. I called Mazda and spoke with christopher and he said Mazda could not do anything for me because they apparently sent me an e-certificate last November when I called in about the right side assembly. I advised him that I did not receive it and emailed it to me again. I asked him what assistance could be provided for the replacement of the right side assembly and he advised there wasn't any. I expressed my concern about this being a safety issue I could not simply just replace the bulb, the whole assembly for both sides now need to be replaced. I then spoke with thom and he also denied assistance. I feel this is very unfair. The housing which holds the bulb melting in both assemblies has nothing to do with the age and mileage of my vehicle. This is a manufacture's defect and I think Mazda should have to pay for it. There is nothing I could've done to prevent that from happening. I know people who have vehicles older than mine and they do not have this issue. What are my recourses at this point? this is very unfair. To offer $300. 00 on a part that cost $2000. 00 (both sides) is not reasonable. The vehicle cannot be driven because its a safety issue. No lights.
There are several recalls on this vehicle including air bags. We have made several attempts over the years to get any of these done with zero success. The dealership just keeps telling us to come back. Our air bag light comes on and goes out all the time. The lights fill with water after washing or if it rain causing the headlights to short out and blow the bulbs. The engine rattles everytime you crank the car and then goes away. We have changed the oil regularly and it still does it.
The low beam headlights have had to be replaced multiple times on our vehicle, one night both went out and had to drive home with our high beams on, we've probably replaced about at least two dozen bulbs, there has to be some fix to this issue, they are expensive and not easy to replace, they say drilling a hole in the housing will take care of the problem by giving air and reducing the moisture in the housing, that has been done and still lights are going out, need help here on this issue.
Low beam and high beam headlights burn out multiple times each year.
Low beam headlights on this vehicle are extremely poor and they are so dull that it is difficult to drive at night. When I compare the low beam halogen projectors on other makes of vehicles that I have driven, they consistently perform far better than those on the Mazda. I felt that the lights were subpar from the time I bought the vehicle from new, but they have gotten worse over time. Specifically the illumination of the road surface, the focus and the distance of the light all appear to be very poor. It is just difficult to see at night. I suspect that the problem is in the design and construction of the lights because as I mentioned, I noticed this problem when the car was new. So this is not a problem of old lights on an old car. I even mentioned it to the dealership during a service and they checked the aim of the lights and said that they were working perfectly. Having seen other complaints from other owners and drivers of this vehicle, I am now convinced that this is a problem that Mazda should take responsibility for. Headlights are there to enable drivers to see and be seen under most road conditions. The 2010 Mazda Cx-7 headlights simply fail to achieve this. This is clearly a case of form over function, but in this case it had led to a serious safety concern.
Low beam and high beam headlights burn out multiple times through out the year. The low beam on either side burn out and have to be replaced more frequently than the high beams.
The headlights (low beam) on my car simply stopped working all of a sudden. Checked the fuses and all are fine. High beams and signal lights work fine, it's just the headlights. Have seen this same description in other websites as possibly the control module had a short circuit and this is a very common thing to happen to these cars. Mazda is not accepting this as an "in warranty" repair even though this is a major common complaint. My car is out of warranty already, so I'll need to pay this repair out of pocket.
My headlights have been going out for the last several years and I finally realized I should complain about. I've change the low beam bulbs multiple times (I do not touch the bulb with my hand) and every few months the bulb goes bad. This happens so frequently that I keep a spare bulb in my glove compartment. I've read many message boards stating their Mazda has similar issues. There has to be some other solution rather than spending a lot of money on bulbs or going to the dealership for them to change.
Headlights on the car go out frequently while driving at night. I have to change them 3-4 times a year on both sides. This is becoming a serious problem and a huge expense as the headlights cost $30 a piece.
I had to replace the lower headlight several time on the passenger side since purchase in 2013. Two time after the bulb was replace the light went out while I was driving home at night. Again as of may 4, 2016 the headlight us not working.
* engine issues when the a/c compressor locked up. This is a known issue in this make and model. This happened around 36k miles while I was driving on a freeway. We had to coast into the next exit. * engine knocking issues. They still persist and started around 50k miles. * engine resistance. Alongside the knocking there seems to be a good amount of resistance when taking your foot off of the pedal for acceleration. * they added a factory extension to the radio for the ipod. Ever since they installed this, the rest of the electrical components have been overloaded. - headlights go out frequently. This concerns me as my wife drives the car and I wouldn't want both to go out at the same time. - the battery won't hold a charge if not driven for a few days. The dealership acknowledged that the radio has a 'parasitic draw' on the battery causing these issues, but refuses to take responsibility for their installation. Their solution is to charge $800+ for a new head unit, which is outrageous since I never did anything to the factory head unit.
For the last 2 years I have been trying to get our headlights to work properly with no success. Even when both dim headlights are working they are so dimm we can't drive with them and if one of them goes out we might as well not have a headlight. I have a vw and if one of it's low beam lights is out it is 100 times brighter than the Mazda with both low beams. This is very dangerous because if we are out at night we have to use the high beams which blinds on coming traffic. I have taken it to jim ellis Mazda twice and the first time I didn't even get home with out the light falling out. Took it back and they assured me if was fixed but it wasn't and now the service rep nor the service manager will even return my call. I have had it to 3 different local shops and they can't fix it either. One of them finally got the light from falling out and replaced them both with the brighest light we could find and they are still very very dimm. I have also spent hundreds of dollars on this issue so it is not only dangerous but very disappointing not to mention very dangerous. Thanks, patrick foley.
Exterior headlight assembly gets cracked due to poor construction and whole assembly requires replacing in lieu of simply replacing the headlamp. This is quite pricey at approx $700 each for both driver's side and passenger side respectively.
I purchased the vehicle used in may of 2013 I only had the vehicle 2 days and had to replace the drivers head light. On December 17th the drivers headlight went out again and on the 19th of December the passenger headlight has gone out.
My front headlights are so dim I can hardly see when driving after dusk. Even with the high beams on I can only see about two car lengths in front of me. They look fogged up. I was getting gas last week and a gentleman came over and asked if he could clean my headlights. . . Free of charge but he felt it was too dangerous for me to drive. I told him I agreed but that they couldn't be cleaned. He did give it a try but it was futile. The film that seems to be covering the lens is on the inside. . . Or I think it is because it cannot be scrubbed off. It is really scary driving home from work and new light bulbs did not make any difference. I believe it is a manufacturer's defect that if just being ignored.
I bought this car November of 2013 I have had to replace both headlights once and the right headlight twice. The headlight covers either retain moisture or heat up to the point that it is burning the lights out or melting the cover. The covers are so fogged up that I have to have the lights on bright all the time to have enough light to see. There is an obvious defect most people don't have to replace headlight every 4 to 6 months.
I am very unhappy with my headlights on my Mazda cx7 2010 or should I say lack of headlights. I have put 8 light bulbs in this car and they were the expensive ones. This car is a piece of crap all the way around but the headlights are really bad! also they are so clouded over. I have a hard time driving at night and now I just can't because I am not going to get stopped again for having a headlight out! I only drive during the day. I can't believe that they do not have a recall for this problem, when I see so many complaints on the same thing. This is such a stress er for me. I wish there was someone out there that could help us in this situation.
I was driving down the road at night and headlight on passenger side went out due to condensation see sb-09-003-13 Mazda is fully aware of this issue and refuse to do anything about it. I ordered oem parts at a cost of $1400 from Mazda and had them installed at certified body shop and within two weeks light blew out again, had to replace just the bulb this time, they said they couldn't cover this cost because a Mazda dealer didn't install light. Mazda said the only way they would do anything is if there was a safety recall. What does a recall consist of when you are driving down the road at night and both headlights go out at the same time and have an accident or hit someone else head on causing fatalities. This is about as unsafe as anything I can think of. Again I reference sb-09-003-13. I hate to know there might be fatalities with this problem and everyone ignores it. I told Mazda I would do everything in my power to try and make them responsible for this defect, I guess they have no concern for human life, this is why I am filing this complaint. Just think of all the lawsuits that will happen and the monetary cost involved when this does happen and I think it will since it has already happened once, also lose of life, I don't think there is a price to put on this. Thank you for your time.
Low beam headlights continuously need replacing. . . Averaging a set every six months. The bulbs are blown when first turned on or while driving on the highway. Extremely dangerous at night in rural areas. Do not use lights during the day unless raining.
From the time I purchased this vehicle the headlights would retain moisture and fog up. This has supposedly been repaired by Mazda, but reoccurs and results with poor headlight illumination. The illumination provided by my headlights is reduced considerably due to this defect. I have 17,000 miles on this vehicle now and have repeatedly tried to have this problem corrected. I believe this defect to impose a danger.
Instruments are recessed and are difficult to see in the daylight. With the headlights on they are poorly lighted and are hard to see at night.
