general problems of the 2007 Mazda CX9

Two problems related to service brakes have been reported for the 2007 Mazda CX9. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/31/2014

For a couple of weeks, I've been noticing a hissing sound coming from my breaks on my 2007 Mazda cx-9. I didn't think much of it at first until tonight. My sister was driving the car and said it was extremely hard to break the car. I wanted to see what she was talking about, so I got in the car and as soon as I placed my foot on the pedal to start the car and put it into reverse to back out of the driveway, the hissing sound was very loud and much more noticeable than before. Once the car was in gear, the breaks were kind of stuck on. The car wouldn't go backwards in idle and when I pushed the gas for it to go there was a grinding sound coming from the wheels. I didn't like what was going on and didn't want to take it down the road. I decided to put it into drive and pull into the garage when the breaks failed completely. I couldn't push the pedal at all and the car kept rolling into the garage, so I had to slam on the e-break and slam into park for it to stop so I wouldn't crash into the house. I saw a few other people with the same problem which led me here to report it. Mazda really needs to do something about this problem before someone seriously gets hurt or even killed. If this were to happen to me at road speeds when I needed to stop, there could have been wreckage, possible injures or even death.

2 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/19/2011

The contact owns a 2007 Mazda Cx9. While driving approximately 60 mph, the contact engaged the brake pedal repeatedly with force however there was a delayed response. The contact swerved off the road to prevent crashing into a proceeding vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis where the technician stated that the failure was contributed to the power brake booster. The contact planned to take the vehicle to an authorized dealer for repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 68,000.
