In addition, smoke was detected from the engine and the check engine, battery, and oil warning indicators were illuminated. With no warning the Smart brake system malfunction and the front radar system malfunction warnings come on and I am unable to use the cruise control. In addition the parking brake light comes on and the parking brake is not on as I am driving.

I purchased a 2010 Cx9 about a month ago and got pulled over last night for my driver side head light being out, I took it to the shop and was charged $194 for the bulb replacement, but it did not work and was charged another $130 for diagnostics . They found out that the ballast has blown out due to condensation in the headlight and now they are going to charge me again for the ballast and labor.

One day, my keyless don stopped working. The next day the door kept locking while I was driving almost every time I turned the steering wheel. Then the drivers door wouldn't unlock, when I manually unlocked the door it was hard to do. I luckily had the windows rolled down, got out the vehicle and as soon as I shut the door I hear the door lock and my two year old was in the backseat! again luckily I had the windows rolled down otherwise she might've been stuck! then the alarm kept going off and wouldn't turn off until I unhooked the battery. Imagine my frustration. I brought the car to a Mazda dealership who said it was the door latch/actuator. Upon paying heftily when I picked up my car, the clicking of the door locks had stopped but the unlock button still wouldn't work and the alarm was once again going off! now the car is still at the Mazda dealership and had its bcm/bcu replaced for a supposed �fix�, I'm suppose to pick it up tomorrow. So I guess we'll see. The apparent problem from all of this? my Cx9 has a sunroof, which Mazda knows these vehicles don't drain properly which causes water to go to the bcm shorting it out! this is inexcusable and could very well cost someone's child their life because of the doors constant locking and unable to unlock sometimes manually. The dealership has seen it on more than one occasion and Mazda company has even admitted this fault! so why is there no recall?!.

In 2017, my car shut off two times, without warning, one time at a stop light and again on the highway going 70mph. We were accelerating at the stop light when it shut off and then driving on the highway. Took the car to the dealership and 72 codes came up. They said it was the dvd players (that they sold and installed!!!) that were causing the issue. They supposedly �fixed� the issue. Now in July 2019, the car shut off an additional five times. Three times while driving and twice in a parking lot. We were on a highway again when the car just shut off with no warning, lights on the dash started flashing, and the power steering went out one of the times. My husband had to put it in neutral, coast to the shoulder, come to a complete stop and then attempt to start it each time. Cars were dodging us every time and luckily we weren't hurt. My children were in the vehicle every single time. We had the car towed to the dealership where 68 codes came up. This time they're saying it's the fuel pump and that they can �fix� it, but can't 100% guarantee it won't happen again. We were put in a life threatening situation every time, without warning, after giving the dealership a chance to fix it. The car is under three years old and only has 30,400 miles on it.

When accelerating after driving for a few minutes maybe 10-15 after the vehicle has had time to warm up, as I am applying pressure to the gas pedal and it is shifting into gears (usually into gears 3,4, & 5) the vehicle is showing that it is into the next gear but you feel it shift after the fact so it is delayed and as accelerating it feels as though it is lagging and trying to shift but can't fully right away. I am only submitting this complaint because I know a couple others with this make of vehicle but different years and they stated they have the same issue with their vehicle as well.

This vehicle is has been on lease for 1 year and has less than 4000 miles on it. Initially while attempting to start the vehicle that had been parked overnight it gave the following warnings: - keyless entry malfunction - charging system malfunction - vehicle overheating - battery malfunction the car would not shut off until I held the start/stop button in for roughly 20secs. The dealer service center took the car and told us the battery had a low charge, charged it and returned it. Several weeks later while the vehicle was in motion with 2 adults and 2 children on a city street traveling at about 20mph it gave the following warnings: - keyless entry malfuction - charging system malfuction - vehicle overheating - battery malfunction - pull over to safety at this point the vehicle was still in motion and the stereo, hvac, and power steering cut out. I was able to pull the vehicle over but again had trouble shutting it off. I had to hold the start/stop button for 20-40secs. The car was towed to the dealer service center. We were told by the service center that a lot of 500 vehicles of this year and model had an engine harness defect that no recall had been issued for but they were aware of defect and had a fix for it. I feel I was lucky that I was only traveling 20mph when the power steering cut out. If I had been traveling highway speeds on a bend the situation could have been tragic and I had my children in the car. Currently, based on what I've been told by the dealer service and sales managers there are potentially hundreds of other 2018 cx-9s which could experience this same malfunction while in motion.

Cpsc: the manufacturer sells a Smart car seat. The consumer stated the cybex sironsafe 2. 0 car seats plug into the vehicles obd ports. The car seats both individually drained the battery of the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but, did not offer any assistance.

Brake lights come up intermittently, especially when temperature is low. Also, front radar sensor system malfunction and Smart brake system malfunction warnings come up also,. This is during the drive.

Our vehicle has water drains or "weep" lines for the sunroof. We recently had the electrical system stop/start, dash lights remain on constantly after sitting in the driveway during the rain. We learned that if the drains become blocked that water leaks into the cabin directly onto the body control module (bcm). Because the bcm is not in a sealed or water-proof case, yet is soaked in these conditions, the vehicle is subject to electrical failure as a result. Replacing the bcm costs about $1,000. When we started the car the dash lights that warn of an issue with many of the vehicles safety systems remained on. Others went off and soft of flashed. We could not determine if there was really an issue with all of the components flashing on the dash so we did not want to drive it for fear of an accident. Our vehicle was stationary (thank god). We waited for a while and were able to leave for home, but this condition is clearly a huge safety risk.

11/16/18 towed for inoperabilty. Stuck fuel injector/ ruined engine. All panel lights came on. Kept car for 57 days. Fuel injector # 1 failed. We were driving onto interstate. While working on car, exhaust stud broke off into turbo charger housing. Drilled out and rethreaded took back to Mazda dealer to c/o about swooshing noise in r dash said they did not hear. This occurring with acceleration 2/7/19 while driving out of state on interstate , swooshing noise r dash lost acceleration while passing. St peters , mo dealership had to put back on the turbo hose & clamp 5/6/19 back home and again heard the swoosh noise on acceleration. Dealership replaced gasket to turbo charger / air leak with smoke test 9/14/19 again became inoperative while driving out of state immediately after passing large truck, lost acceleration with pedal to carpet. Was told in limp mode smelled something in car compartment. Stuck on narrow county road. Limped to turn off. On inspection by tow truck person, stated was pouring gasoline from front of car. �this could have caught fire due to 90+ degree temp in tex. Fuel injector # 4 exploded mechanic on inspection told serv mgr this car was put back together in a shoddy manner. The hose to fuel injector had previously been routed wrong when engine replaced. Now waiting on malfunction of fuel injector 2&3. Scared to drive car. C/o to Mazda customer rep. His response well u have warranty until 4/2024. That is b/c we took extended warranty. Hollingsworth Mazda in baton rouge, la closed reason unknown.

While driving the vehicle the car to an abrupt stop and I had no control. The dashboard lit up with all types of warnings and heat was coming from the front of the car.

I'm thankful I was not going 75mph on the highway with my children in my car instead I was driving 30 mph coming to a stop at a red light on a small city street my Mazda cx-9 without a warning started hiccuping and came to a complete stop and not able to power up again we had it towed to a Mazda dealer was told our make model of car has a TSB code issued code # 01-026/11 dealer told us car needs new pcm (computer) and new coils they weren't sure if coils ruined pcm or pcm damage coils. Spoke to manufacturer they admitted they have seen issue but that my car is 40000 miles over warranty. I have owned other cars and all my friends have cars I have never heard of this happening. I hope this gets investigated there are loads of Mazda's just like mine on our roads I was very lucky to be going so slow this could have gone very bad. I have done some research online and there are loads of stories like mine. With no warning signs at all.

Driving to work in the morning at 5:45am on 06/05/2018 going 65 mph and my car cuts engine power and starts lowly declining pressing gas did nothing and multiple notifications flashing such as vehicle system malfunction, forward Smart city brake support malfunction, Smart brake system malfunction. I had to pull off to the side of the highway I can't even say I can pull off safely because all power was cut. So let the car sit for 5 minutes while off and then restarted and was able to make it work. I took pictures as everything was happening because I know the dealer ship will say something like "welp it ain't happening here so your car is fine. " I am very fortunate when I bought the car I decided to lease the vehicle so I can just take the car back. These malfunctions seem like a very severe problem and I do not want to hang on to the vehicle. Once 30k passes I will be super screwed! I called dealer ship and they are booked out 2 weeks so I cant even take the car in right away, plus they aren't even sure if they'll have a rental for me when I drop it off. Also to mention, ac unit already had to be replaced, and a suspension recall. Worse car I've had so far its sucks because Mazda used to be so great. Their service department sucks big time! I never had this type of service or issues this severe with my chevy. 08/07/2018 I took care in again for same situation along with ac and all Mazda tells me is they are looking into and assure me it will be taken care of this time. (also said last time) I think that they do not know how to fix the issue! I called corporate to ask for a refund and give the car back and all the told me was to give dealership another chance to fix the issue. It is so unsafe to drive and have kids in the car, I am very fortunate to not have my baby nephew and nieces with me when these things were happening.

The infotainment screen containing the backup camera goes blank . The car has 16000 miles on it and has had this problem since new. The dealer has the car multiple times and has not fixed the problem. Research on the internet reveals that there is a major issue with many Mazda vehicles. This problem happens on startup and will continue till shutoff . It may or may not come on upon restart.

We own a 2011 Mazda cx7 and a 2012 Mazda Cx9, the motors in the drivers and passenger side windows of both cars when out within a 6 month period of time. The warrant on the cars were out at 36k miles and in 2014. The motors both stopped working past this period time but have read this has happened on these same vehicles. The windows go down but start making a loud clicking sound and will not go back up with out holding you hand on it, creating a very dangerous situation with small children.

Immediately upon making a sharp right turn into a parking spot, the car suddenly accelerated at a very fast pace without me pushing the gas pedal. My immediate reaction was to press on the brake, but it did not stop. The car slammed into a planter in front of me. The car moved so quickly that it was lodged into the bushes and had to be pulled out by a tow truck. I immediately called the dealer service department and told them what happened. The service manager's immediate reaction was to scoff at the idea that the car accelerated on it's own. My husband met me at the dealer and had subsequently found information about a recall of cx-9 models from 2012 for a similar malfunction. He showed it to the same manager who immediately knew the issue of the recall but was quick to mention it was the 2012 model, not the 2016. The dealer kept the car for a few days and told me it was driven twice and also some info from the computer was reviewed with Mazda tech support person. No data indicating any kind of malfunction in the car and the service guy did not have a problem with it in two short test drives, so they said come pick it up it's safe to drive. However, I will never drive this car again. This is the fully-loaded signature cx-9 that they feature in all their ads. I loved this car at first sight and drove it over 24000 miles in less than 2 years. This experience scared me to the point that I will never drive this or another Mazda again. I have had over a week to process this experience and am just happy my kids weren't in the car or that I didn't hit someone. I have found several other instances of sudden unintended acceleration online and cannot believe that this happens in 2017. I hope that this documentation helps someone else in my shoes feel that they are not crazy and this does happen. Shame on Mazda for not fully addressing this issue.

I took it to the dealer they said some kind of sensor had to be replaced at a cost of 700. 00 dollars I dont think I sould have to pay out of my pocket. I transport my grandkid around and if a something happens they would not get out.

It was difficult for the contact to exit the vehicle due to how close the seat moved towards the steering wheel. The contact also mentioned that the failure occurred periodically. The contact was informed that the vehicle was repaired per NHTSA campaign number: 09v066000 (electrical system) in 2009. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 144,000.

I started my car at home to allow it to warm up while I got the kids ready for school. My cars starts with keyfob (no key) once we was all ready we left home to go to school. I proceeded to drive my car to the school (without the keys, apparently I left them on the table and forgot to grab them) we arrived at the school. I parked, turned the car off and entered the building. When I returned to leave, I was unable to since I did not have my car keys. My Mazda Cx9 will shift into gear and drive without the fob within proximity to the vehicle this clearly violates fmvss 114 s5. 2. 2- except as specified in s5. 2. 4, the vehicle must be designed such that the transmission or gear selection control cannot move from the ¿park¿ position, unless the key is in the starting system therefore, I was stranded, I contacted Mazda service (because in the past it seemed as when I got into the car to leave without the keys, I could not shift our of park) to ask they said that is how it was meant to operate. This is a major safety concern. 1) my car can be moved without the key fob 2) no notice that key fob is missing 3) be stranded due to not having keys.

Back in 2011 (my Mazda cx-9 was only 4 yo), I was driving down the turnpike at 65 mph when my car began to stutter, it would not accelerate and it came to an idle. Thankfully I was near the shoulder of the road so I was able to pull over. South motors Mazda dealership stated the computer (pcm) was fried. It was replaced under warranty. Current day: 2016. My car began having the same symptoms last week when driving 15 mph in a residential area. My car currently has approximately 99,500 miles. Had my car towed to dealership. Ocean Mazda stated the pcm and 3 coils are fried again. Upon reading consumer reviews on 2007 Mazda cx-9, it seems this is a common issue. I am livid that this issue has not been addressed as a recall as there is obviously a defect in either the coils misfiring or Mazda's pcms are defective. I will be discussing this issue with my dealership today in attempt to not pay over $1900 parts and labor as quoted by ocean Mazda.

We bought our car on a dealer in mesa, it was stationary. After we bought it we noticed locks moving on their own windows rolling down so did the moon roof. When we turn off the engine the a/c turns on even though the car is turned off. The car locks itself leaving us outside. We had problems with the tires they keep loosing up making the car vibrate and making sounds like banging on the tires.

The contact owns a 2007 Mazda Cx9. While driving 55 mph, a burning wire odor emitted in and outside the rear of the vehicle. The contact noticed that the rear windshield wiper motor was burning. The contact disconnected the motor for the windshield wipers. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The front driver and passenger wheels spun but failed to move the vehicle. The vehicle was brought to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the transfer case needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage is approximately 92,000. Gl.

Brakes prematurely failed after feeling numb and squishy. Upon diagnostic by a local mechanic, it was determined that the brake master cylinder had a leak. In addition, the abs, traction control and emergency brake lights came on when the symptoms were present. Estimated cost of repair $1250.

All warning lights on the instrument cluster illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who was unable to diagnose or repair the vehicle but stated that theft system had taken over the vehicle. The vehicle was then towed to a dealer but the contact was unsure about the part that needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 74 000. Oo.

Tl- the contact owns a 2011 Mazda Cx9. The contact stated that after driving 45 mph at night suddenly the contact noticed a flickering coming from the front end of the vehicle. The contact pulled over to assess the situation, he found that flames had ingolfed the engine. The fire department put out the fire. A police report was filed. The contact luckily, the contact and passenger did not sustain any injuries. The cause of the fire had yet to be determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 65,000. Az.

Vehicle brakes lighting dim while coming to a stop and can not be seen from other vehicles approaching from behind on the road. When not replaced, stop light will run continually or not function, potentially causing premature bulb failure, safety issues and/or the transmission will not shift out of park. A failed stoplight switch will prevent the brake light from illuminating when the brake pedal is applied that may cause a collision and a life lost.

While driving on interstate 77, north bound, at 55mph, other motorists informed me that my car was on fire underneath. There were no dashboard warning lights or signals that came on it light up as a warning sign. I pulled over to the side of the road, the fire department and sheriff's office put out the fire and the car was towed. The car is quite new and with very low mileage. Well maintained car. No recent work other than regular oil change. Mazda denies any problems with this car.

Was driving on interstate at night. Engine light came on and car immediately drove as if it were not operating on all cylinders. Took it to dealership and it had multiple misfire codes, 301, 351, 352, 354. I researched and found multiple complaints filed on-line regarding the exact misfire codes I experienced and pcm issues in this particular year, make and model. This problem is way too expensive to fix on a personal level. If Mazda is aware that this has been an issue, they need to remedy it. I do not believe I need to personally pay for a pcm when this appears to be a common problem in this make and model. I believe Mazda is very aware of this problem, and they need to remedy it and replace the pcm.

The vehicle stalls when idling at a stop light or in a a drive thru. The vehicles motor begins to shake and then eventually dies and stalls out and the vehicle must be started again with the turn of the ignition. The braking system is also defective. When at a stop light and your foot is on the brake pedal. The pedal suddenly sinks as if the brake fluid in the master cylinder has drained fully and the brake pedal sinks all the way to the floor and the vehicle shoots forward even if your foot is on the brake. Another problem is in the power door lock system. There has been a time when the power door lock was stuck and the rear right door could not be shut. I had to drive the car to the dealership with the car door flopping all over the place. They were able to fix it at the dealership but could not figure out how it occurred. They were as puzzled as I was. The car was bought back in 2010 brand new from the Mazda dealership. The reviews were good for the vehicle. Its the first Mazda we purchased and is probably going to be the last.
