The adjustable rails holding the rear left seat in place no longer latch. It is available for inspection. This is the most common place for a car seat in this car. In the event of a crash the seat would slide forward. The seat belt attaches to the seat so there would be little restraint on the rear passenger. The mechanic who attempted a repair stated Mazda does not sell this part, only sells a replacement for the entire seat, about $5000. There were no symptoms, when adjusting the seat the rail just stopped holding the seat firmly in place when the adjusting bar was released.

My car has a 60/40 split adjustable-type second-row seat and the driver side of the 60/40 split-bench second row seat has been sliding forward during braking despite being seemingly locked in place. Apparently, a similar issue was the subject of a safety recall for 2020/2021 Mazda cx-9s (5221i). I have spoken with Mazda and they are not offering to replace the seat as part of the recall since my car is a 2019. While I understand their position, the issue appears to be the exact same one described in the recall of the 2020/2021 models.

Tl the contact owns a 2008 Mazda cx-9. While driving 60 mph, the driver's seat unintentionally moved towards the steering wheel. It was difficult for the contact to exit the vehicle due to how close the seat moved towards the steering wheel. The contact also mentioned that the failure occurred periodically. Mazda of orland park (8910 w 159th st, orland park, IL 60462, (708) 444-3200) was contacted. The contact was informed that the vehicle was repaired per NHTSA campaign number: 09v066000 (electrical system) in 2009. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 144,000.

After a minor rear end accident, the driver front seat now rocks side to side and is distracting and unsafe. It was taken to the local Mazda dealership that provided an inspection and said that there is no problem with the seat. They state that it is normal for their seats to rock side to side. How unsafe and frightening. Please see attached documentation from the dealership.
The driver seat and passenger seat has a clicking noise and has a little play on the back rest while turning around corners at any speed. I am worried during a time of high stress during a fender bender or high impact crash these seats will fail and break.
I was not in an accident but I feel I could have a defective divers side seat that could come loose (seat rail). I was told by a dealer that the only way to repair the issue is to replace the seat which would cost over $3000. 00. If this is happening to other vehicle owners, this could be a safety hazard.
I purchased the car with 7,000 miles and since the beginning there has been a humming noise every time I turn the steering wheel to either side. I took it to the dealer and they told me it was a piece of plastic stuck to the control arm. The car continued making the noise only audible on a quiet night and now the car has 30,000 and humming is more pronounced day and night with only slight turn angle. The other issue is the drivers seat has a little play, felt during turns. And the last issue is the usb just stopped working.
My son age 13, weighs 105 pounds. When he sits in the front passenger seat the air bag warning light is illuminated indicating that the air bag has been disabled. It is my understanding that the recommended minimum age and weight for the front seat is 12 years and 80lbs respectively. The Mazda dealer, (john kennedy Ford, 1403 ridge pike, conshohocken, PA 19428) ran a check of the calibration of airbag sensors. " all ok, no update needed" - they gave me a copy of service bulletin no 08-001/13. This mentions that the issue is caused by my son sitting incorrectly in the passenger seat. I have spoken to the dealer on multiple occasions and this issue is still not resolved.

At 8am January 12, 2011 I was driving to work in a blizzard. I felt a slight pain/pinch from my seat and quikly moved thinking it was something from my pocket. I resumed driving and again felt a much greater pain causing me to swerve and cause a near collision. Very frightened, I jumped out of the car (mid traffic in blizzard) to find my seat scorched through appearantly from the seat warmer. This is very concerning. Fortunately I was not driving at a greater speed as it could have been critical or fatal. What do I do about the seat? although I have turned the warmer off, I am still afraid to drive this vehicle.

The electronic seat positioning control on the drivers side seat keeps adjusting on it's own while the vehicle is in motion. It just started today and seemed to do it at any speed, too include while the vehicle was stopped and the brake was applied. I also experienced the same action after I had placed the vehicle in park and turned off the ignition.
New vehicle with dead battery on four seperate occasions. Took to dealership, battery replaced. Child complained that seat was hot. Next day dealer notified and car brought in t odealership. A loaner vehicle was received. I was notified heated seats with recall and would be disconnected at this time. This all occured in a two week period in January. March 17 took car back to dealership to hav recall on heated seats fixed. March 25th attempted to use heated seats, did not work. Mar 30th vehicle back to dealership. Heated seats working after they looked at vehicle. March 31st riding to work in passanger seat, heated seat option off, seat warm to touch, became hotter and hoter then warm during 1 hour communte.
Current recall where heated seat tends to overheat, but my model year isn't included. I have previously complained about this issue to the dealer before I was even aware of the current recall.
