Steering Failed Problems of Mazda MAZDA3

Coming off the bqe in nyc, on a sharp turn exit ramp lost steering control. The car veered sharply to the left into the barrier causing all the side airbags to deploy. Lucky it was at a low speed so nobody was hurt and very minor body damage caused. I had my son in the car, the airbag saved him from hitting his head into the window. The towtruck driver said it looked as if the steering failed because the steering colom detached.

The contact owns a 2010 Mazda 3. While driving 35 mph, the steering wheel seized without warning. The vehicle collided into a street sign and fractured the passenger side mirror. A police report was not filed and there were no injuries. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the steering angle sensor failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 105,310.

My car was included in a Mazda recall of the power steering system. Since the repair was completed my steering has performed in an erratic, unpredictable and sometimes dangerous manner. In three trips to the dealer the car performed normally and because no fault codes were generated, no repairs were performed. However this does not negate the fact that the steering is failing and that my safety is being compromised.

Tl-the contact owns a 2007 Mazda3. The contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed, a loud rattling noise emitted from the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed that the rear stabilizer control link and ball joint fractured. The rear stabilizer brushing ring and the control link were replaced. In addition, the contact stated that the steering wheel locked while attempting to turn left. The contact was able to complete the turn but the vehicle stalled in the middle of the intersection. The contact restarted the engine and the vehicle resumed normal function. The manufacturer advised the vehicle was not included in recall NHTSA campaign number 10v374000 (steering). The steering failure was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 85,000. Pam.
