1 Steering Column problem of the 2010 Mazda MAZDA6

Failure Date: 07/13/2018

Heard a knock while driving (as though hitting pothole). Next day steering column felt loose, breaks seemed worn and sound on sharp turns. Later that day while driving in city, went over a normal dip in the road and heard a crack/louder knock. Wheel turned to the left, even though driving straight. When applying brakes, wheel now turned to the right. Pulled aside and ran over curb as brakes were not as effective. Initial diagnosis: brakes and bearings need repair (although these were replaced less than 5 months ago). Next diagnosis: subframe psg. Side completely rotted and cracked. Will take a month to repair [rental provided]. Note- the past 6 months I've had other issues including: electrical (fuse for radio/locks/int lights keeps breaking; after 1. 5 hour diagnostic cause still unknown. Chose to replace fuse as needed- weekly to monthly); 3 tires have gone (even though 2 were fairly new; needed alignment); brakes and bearings twice. Could be regular wear and tear or could be related.

2 Steering Column problem of the 2014 Mazda MAZDA6

Failure Date: 06/12/2013

The steering wheel column makes a vibrating noise when the car's driving on bumpy roads, sounded like something's loosen. I discovered it right after I picked up the car from the dealer lot when it had 115 miles. I went back to a Mazda dealer to report the problem and they said it is a common problem that they've seen before and Mazda had a solution for it. So they fixed it, but that was two weeks ago and now the steering wheel column is making the vibrating noise again.

3 Steering Column problem of the 2007 Mazda MAZDA6

Failure Date: 01/17/2010

Steering became difficult, extreme vibration, and car pulled to the right when traveling approximately 60 mph approx mileage was 46k when issue started. Problem continued for about 5 miles and then stopped. Issue occurred again traveling approx 40 mph. Took vehicle to manufacturer and they found no issue, just stated that it was time for a 50k mile service. Got the recommended service. In January '10 while driving approx 70 mph issue started again, but was a lot worse, approx mileage was 52k dealership would not honor 50k mile warranty, took car to repair shop, when arriving, attempted to put car in reverse and it would not go. Mechanic informed me that the issue was, steering column had went bad. Had to be replaced.

4 Steering Column problem of the 2008 Mazda MAZDA6

Failure Date: 04/08/2008

The car would make horrible sounds when I was turning left or right and would pull me to the left or right without me being able to conrol the car. A new steering column was put in by the dealership. The service manager at tom wood Mazda (he now works at tom wood Ford) said the car was designed to pull me off the highway or road in case I passed out at the wheel. Then a new dealership bought the dealership and they replaced my steering column. My steering wheel was never straight, but the car was not out of alignment on a machine.

5 Steering Column problem of the 2008 Mazda MAZDA6

Failure Date: 02/04/2008

When I purchase my new Mazda 6, it was determined on a computer that the steering wheel was crooked, but the car was not out of alignment. Then the car started pulling hard to the right. Then the steering wheel started clunking when I was turning either way. After many trips to the service dept, a new steering column was put in. The clunking stopped, but the car would still pull hard to the right, and every time I got new tires or rotated the tires, the steering wheel would be crooked again, but not out of alignment. The clunking started again, and appears to have the same issue, but my car is out of warranty now and the dealership has changed owners 3 times. I feel my car was a lemon and I could not get help because the dealership kept being sold. I feel I am driving an unsafe car. I have never known anyone who had to have a steering column replaced. I am afraid that my car is going to pull me off the road into a tree. It is a 5-speed so 1 hand is off the steering wheel frequently. I need help from Mazda to help me cure this problem because I am so frustrated in dealing with the dealerships. I am afraid that I am going to killed in this car because of the steering issue that is unresolved.

6 Steering Column problem of the 2007 Mazda MAZDA6

Failure Date: 07/20/2007

My 2007 Mazda 6 was bought back in January 07. My problem comes from the steering column which was making a small sound when I pull out of my driveway but now it's getting worst I have not taken it back to the dealer because of my tight schedule.
