Body problems of the 2002 Mazda Tribute

Six problems related to body have been reported for the 2002 Mazda Tribute.

The contact owns a 2002 Mazda Tribute. While driving various speeds, the front passenger wheel became disengaged from the vehicle and jammed into the wheel well. The failure caused the vehicle to be immobile. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and then transported to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The dealer stated that the manufacturer would not cover the repair due to the extensive corrosion. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 14v174000 (structure) prior to the failure, but the recall repair was not performed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 135,000.

Tl-the contact owns a 2002 Mazda Tribute. The contact stated that while the driver was driving at approximately 25 mph, the front passenger side tire turned inward without warning. The driver observed that the lower control arm fractured. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence where it was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 14v174000 (structure). The failure mileage was approximately 131,000. Sg.

The frame that secures the hood latch assembly rusted or corroded away and I can't secure hood to latch.

Tl- the contact owns a 2002 Mazda Tribute. The contact while driving 35 mph, he had notice a weird sound from the vehicle. The vehicle was observed by an independent mechanic and when on the lift, he noticed that the entire sub frame was fractured and corrosion was present. The contact received NHTSA campaign:14v174000 and had taken the vehicle to the dealer to service the vehicle under the recall. The dealer was to install a newly designed reinforcement cross-brace. The vehicle was repaired,however, the mechanic informed the contact that the lower control arms,both frontal struts and the tie rod ends needed to be replaced because of the excessive corrosion present on the sub frame. The mechanic informed the contact that even if they would replace the defected parts, the vehicle would remain unsafe to drive. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and they informed the contact that even though the recall was due to faulty metal corrosion,the other defective parts were due to environmental corrosion and could not assist the contact. The approximate failure mileage was 71,000. Gb.

2002 Mazda Tribute. Unable to open the door to exit the vehicle. I had to open the window and stick my arm out the window to unlock the door from the exterior door handle. In addition, the rear lift gate would not remain closed or locked and would stay open while the vehicle was in motion.

Door handle on the passenger side does not open the door anymore. It seems that interior handle stopped working correctly by using it in a normal way. This affects safety since the passenger door can be opened only from the outside.
