We own a Mercedes Benz C230. The check engine light came on. We took it to the dealer and it was diagnosed with a balance shaft error. It turns out the balance shaft is broken. The part cost only about $400. But since replacing it requires pulling out and taking a part the engine, the repair is over $3000. We have been advised not to drive the vehicle. It has not been repaired.

On at least five occasions, the vehicle has been unable to advance out of first gear or exceed 25 mph despite depressing the accelerator. This has presented a safety issue for it has occurred intermittently and might as one is entering a highway or expressway with vehicles rapidly approaching from behind.

First, my steering wheel wire was replaced from a faulty srs light coming on and the esp light coming on. I had to pay for all of this. Next, euromotor cars said the steering wheel collar was broke. I have never had that fixed because they wanted to charge me and I felt they should replace the collar since they replaced the steering wire. Now my car does not start and the instrument cluster does not light up. I cannot unlock the doors with the remote key and I cannot unlock the trunk of the car. My car just sits because I feel I should not have to pay for any of this any more. I have put $6,800 in repairs in this car. I do not want to pay for another vehicle. I feel my car is unsafe. My car was first serviced at herb gordon's auto group in silver spring, maryland. I was not happy with the service so I decided to try euromotors and the service was worse. They continue to put in codes so there will not be a recall and the consumer has to pay out of pocket. Please help in resolving some of the issues I have had with this 2005 C230 kompressor Mercedes Benz. I would also like for this car to be entered into the recall for the steering wire repair just as the e320. I purchased the car with 4,000 miles on it in 10/2005. Thank you.

The contact owns a 2000 Mercedes Benz C230. The contact stated the instrument panel cluster failed. The vehicle was taken for state inspection and did not pass due to the odometer being inoperable. The vehicle was not repaired for the failure. In addition, the contact stated the transmission was replaced three times since purchase. The manufacturer advised there was not a recall the failure and would not assist with repairs. The failure and current mileages were 80,663.

I am the owner of a c-230 4 door sedan VIN# wdbrf40j93f386357. I have an issue that I was looking into addressing when another major issue just arrose that I need help from the manufacturer who I have contacted but not received a response. 1) last week I decided to quote insurance and make a change to allstate. Once they put in the VIN# major issues came. The price was way different then what I was paying with Mercury. To make this short, after talking to my broker at Mercury, it turns out my 4 door has the VIN# of a 2 door coupe. I called beverly hills ltd where I purchased the car new. They did nothing. I have the original temp registration from the day I purchased the car new, and the dealer typed coupe not four door and on the lease agreement. I did not notice this. Here are my issues. The coupe is more expensive on insurance - I have been overpaying since 2/2003. 2nd, am I paying a fair lease rate if the VIN# is for another body style. This car has been nothing but nightmare to deal with since the day I purchased it. It has been serviced 8 times, transmission work, 2 computers, camshaft, new radio, idle issues, brake system failed, and so on. It's a complete lemon. It is going in next week again. I have only 21,000 on the car, and drive my 2nd car more a 79 300sd mercedes as it is more reliable then this new car. I need somewhere, someone to go to, any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much, darren weingarten - phone or email.

My Mercedes Benz C230 kompressor started having problems at 4400 miles, it has a hesitation problem. It now has 42,000 miles and still has hesitation. Its been in the shop 7 times for the same situation. They tried to blame it on water in the fuel, but it continues to have the same issue. Over the seven attempts to repair my vehicle, the problems still persists. The hesitation is consisted of stopping and going, jerking the vehicle when transmission from gear to gear. Its a fuel related problem. My fiance and I have been in to many close calls with accidents. The scare of my car is if I really need to avoid being in a accident with swerving, will I have the ability to do that? right now I don't. They have replaced the throttle body, fuel sensors, fuel pump, can't use premium gas recommended by germany tac line, a lot of carbon build-up in the fourth cylinder, gas tank and I think that's it.
2003 C230 has transmission that jerks, and requires excessive effort to get vehicle to move when in reverse, also has weak rim design, and bend easily, hit pot hole on highway and bent front rim.
The transmission on the vehicle was defective. The vehicle has been serviced several times. When the defective occurred, the vehicle would not go over 10 mph. The gear box has been changed three times.
A year ago, I brought a C230 compressor at mercedes-benz and since then, I had to repair my a/c twice, the abs light has been fixed twice in one week, and now my transmission is acting out. Although I have brought my car in a great deal, the problem(s) still exist. In one month alone, I brought my car in about 3 times to fix almost the same problem(s). My last visit was this past week, and just today, I got my car back and the transmission still feels funny. It jerks when I step on the accelerator and for some reason, I feel more unsafe now then before.
Vehile is an automatic. Vehicle "jerks" hard when lightly applying gas. This can be compared to starting in first gear (manual transmission) when not fully depressing the correct combination of gas and clutch. This happens when traveling from a dead stop at a traffic light or pulling into a parking space. Have had several near misses in hitting other vehicles.
I have a 1998 mercedes C230 with a defective transmission. For the past 3 months I've been trying to get the mercedes regional manager (macintosh) to address the problem, which has been present since the vehicle was new, but only became dangerous in the last several months. Macintosh is aware of the problem and its serious nature, but refuses to return my calls. I've been told by the mercedes dealer that I cannot escalate the situation further. The problem is that the transmission causes the car to lurch forward a few seconds after a hard stop. For example, if I had to break suddenly if a child came out in front of the car, it could lurch forward a few seconds after I had stopped with disastrous results. The vehicle also has delayed acceleration, lurching forward at a much faster rate than intended. The transmission has never felt right since I took delivery in 98, but at the time I was ensured that it was normal. I spoke with one of mercedes?? top mechanics at foreign motors west recently who told me this is common for c class vehicles manufactured from 1997 to early 1998. The service manager also said my problems are common with todayã‚??s vehicles. Mercedes has apparently known about this transmission issue for years. Mercedes installed different components in later models to correct the problem. Since the transmission often lasts for about 100,000 miles before the problem occurs, dealers are often able to charge the $8,000 for a new transmission and shirk responsibility. I'm sure there have been situations with disastrous consequences with less knowledgeable drivers than I. This is my third mercedes and clearly they've adopted a lower-quality approach toward building and recalling vehicles in the last 5 years. Hopefully you can do something to protect consumers. I don't know a lot of people with an extra $8,000 laying around to fix a problem that you wouldn't expect in a car like this.
