I purchased a 2007 Mercedes Benz C230 sport from a private seller. I soon learned that the vehicle was in limp mode. The dealer said it was the transmission conductor plate. After hours of research, I discovered several owners of a mercedes with the 772. 9 transmission have been experiencing the same issue. I ended up paying $2500 for a new tcu from Mercedes Benz.

At 178,000 miles the timing chain tensioner failed while the car driving approximately 25 mph and allowed the timing chain to skip several teeth leaving the car stranded and potentially causing thousands of dollars worth of damage to the engine internals. The car was dealer serviced since new and always had maintenance on time. There is thousands of people online that have had the exact same issue and Mercedes Benz USA refuses to do anything about it yet they acknowledge they made them wrong because they have updated the chains and tensioners.

Takata recall- went in for recall srs light turned on. Dealer said it would cost 150- to find out problem, I've said isn' the srs light is the airbag unit? he said no mechanic is going work if the red light is on, unless the red light not there. So I've asked what if something happens along the way? he said sorry, then( I rescheduled in 5 days. I took car home to get srs-redligjt off. ) at honolulu, Mercedes Benz.
The car stays in first gear and I have to stop and pull over. Put it in park and it jerks very badly going into park. Then I pull off the road, stop, turn it off and back on. Then everything goes back to normal, until it happens again. I read on-line of many people having this same issue and there is no recall. Imo this is a safety issue and I do not feel comfortable with loved ones in this car. My dealership is reapiring the transmission as I write for $1400+. I thought mercedes meant high quality/reliability. At least they can admit their mistake and fix it for the people suffering before someone dies. My car only has 63,000 miles and has been serviced by the dealership iaw service manual.
At 115,000 miles the vehicle started experiencing issues shifting from park to reverse or drive. Once in reverse or drive, it won't shift back into park. The car must be turned off in neutral position or wait up to 5 minutes before shifting back into park. Once engaged in reverse or drive there is no problem with the transmission's operation.

2016 I took my 2007 Mercedes Benz C230, into Mercedes Benz to see why the check engine light was on. My car was purchased with 37k miles on it at the time I purchased it. How could such a major issue, arise in car so early in it's life. Mercedes stated, that they make the best quality of cars in the world! they stand by this slogan. However, why would such a major issue occur in a car with such low miles/usage? as I understand it, matters of this magnitude ideally does not occur in such a quality car, let alone in the cars infant stage or would likely happen at all! I was told sometime ago that mercedes knew of this issue. I also searched the internet and discovered so many owners are having the same issue around the world. Mercedes has refused to correct, its defect it was well aware of! who allows Mercedes Benz, the platform to see these cars to consumers, without resolving the issue. Considering a person's financial investment in their purchase! can someone help me, understand how this has happened.
The car stays in first gear and I have to stop and pull over. Put it in park and it jerks very badly going it to park. Then I turn it off, and back on. Then everything goes back to normal, until it happens again. So many people have this issue and there is no recall. What are they waiting for. There is 113 complaints on this car and almost none are from the only recall they have actually issued. This happens on a red light. It happens on the high way. In reverse. I wish I never bought this car. Some people paid 1500 dollars to fix it. I thought mercedes meant high quality. At least they can admit their mistake and fix it for the people suffering before someone dies. The car has 94000 miles. My Honda went to 200,000 with out issues.
As many have found, during highway driving at stop and go, car occasionally loses acceleration and runs at high rpm. Only after emergency pulling to safety and shutting off the car does it reset. This is a dangerous defect in the power train/speed sensor in this model and needs to be recalled.

Was driving at 55mph and then all of a sudden my car speed dropped down to 20 mph even with my gas pedal pushed all the way down and the rpms went between 6000 to 7000. I had to put on my flashers and pull to the side of the road and then car hard shifted to park and then again into drive. Once I turned the car completely off it restarte with no issues and had car towed to the dealer.

Ever since I have purchased my Mercedes Benz C230- 2007 model, I have been regularly maintaining it as per mercedes recommended maintenance instructions. Recently I experienced an unexpected transmission issue in my car. The car lost acceleration on a major highway while driving at a speed of 65 mph. I had to pull over to the shoulder and shut off the engine for a few minutes. Only after restarting the engine, the acceleration improved. I have experienced this issue three times now and am concerned about me and my family's safety. I have researched online on NHTSA. Dot. Gov, benzworld. Org and a few other blog sites where numerous mercedes C230 owners have experienced exactly the same issue. My question is that if this is a known safety related issue and has been reported to Mercedes Benz USA, llc. Several times, why has Mercedes Benz not initiated a recall. I hope the company is not waiting for a disaster to happen. I would appreciate if NHTSA could please investigate the issue.
My car lost acceleration while driving. This was very scary I was entering the freeway, as I was trying to enter into traffic trying to accelerate my car would not pick up speed. I had my children in the car praying not to get hit. I hope something is done before someone looses their life. This need to be a recall item a. S. A. P.
While driving wouldn't accelerate rpm's went up but no acceleration I was finally able to pull over and tried to accelerate got high rpm's but barely moved. Placed in park shifted very hard shifted back to drive shifted hard again. Same thing happened got high rpm's very little movement. Turned car off then started back up everything was ok. Has happened quite a few times can be hot, cold, driving around a lot or just started up.
Attempting to speed up from stop to 45 mph and rpms rose above 5000 to 6000 and car would not speed up past 35 mph. I tried flooring the accelerator but nothing happened. No response at all past 35 mph. I pulled over and turned off the car for 5 minutes. Then I started the car again and the acceleration performed as it should.
The contact owns a 2007 Mercedes Benz C230. The contact stated that while driving at 45 mph, the vehicle starting jerking as if it were to stall. In addition, the contact stated that the transmission seemed as if the vehicle was in neutral. The vehicle was shut off and restarted. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the conductor plate needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 41,000.
"attempting to speed up from stop to 45 mph and rpms rose above 5000 to 6000 and car would not speed up past 35 mph. I tried flooring the accelerator but nothing happened. No response at all past 35 mph". My car does not accelerate as it should. I went to a auto shop and they said I have an intake manifold problem.
Moments after exiting the freeway and reducing speed at around 35 mph my car did not accelerate and continue as it would in neutral. Family in the car panic and for my fortune light traffic on an usual busy street. The check engine light did not turn on at the moment of days after the incident. A week later without a warning the vehicle engine light turn on and lost speed in the freeway. This incident could easy cause my family and other drivers a fatal accident and preventable injuries. I have found many similar incidents describing what happen to me and its awful that nothing is being done to fix it. I will contact my local representative and senator to demand action and a formal investigation about this issue.
On Nov 27, 2013, I was in the los angeles area on highway 14 traveling around 70 mph on the highway w/ many cars and my speed dropped to around 50 mph in spite of my foot downing the accelerator to the floor. I had to turn on my emergency lights and move over to the slow lane for safety. Returning home that same day on the same freeway, the car would not accelerate or transmission would not downshift to compensate for the uphill on the freeway in spite of stepping down on the accelerator- again I had to flash my emergency lights on and move to the slow lane. There is no sensor light on the dashboard for both incidents. My mechanic reported it will be hard to diagnose the transmission problem since there is no sensor light on. On Nov 29, 2013, I traveled to las vegas and the transmission repeated the decelerating incident and failure of the accelerator to increase engine or transmission speed. This is dangerous.
While driving, my car would not shift to the next gear. I pulled over and shifted into park. The car jerked hard. Then I put the car in drive and it jerked hard again. I pulled away and the car had low power and then would not shift passed second gear. I pulled over again and shifted the car to park, turned off the engine, turned it back on and shifted to drive and it worked fine. It's now done this about 15 times while driving at different speeds.
I was driving about 60 mph suddenly my car was jerking and shaking the speed started to decrease and the car suddenly turned off I was able to pull over to the side of the road and I had to turn the key to start it the engine light turned on and I was able to drive off like regular. The next day I was on the freeway exiting I was going like 40 mph when I decreased my speed to stop and make a turn my rpm was at high 4-5 and my speed was 20mph I had to step on the pedal all the way just to get to 20 mph.
I pulled up to a stop sign and as I preceded to accelerate it was very shaky and unwilling to accelerate. It would not brake 20 mph. I then pulled over and shut the car down and waited to restart. After the restart it behave as normal but if I accelerated to much it would begin to shake and would not accelerate anymore. After some research on the forums I discover a mass of similar complaints that match my description to a t and describe issues with a cam bearing, a transmission plate, or both. Thank you for your time and consideration. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
I was driving home and noticed that when I would accelerate after coming to a stop the car was extremely slugglish. I would have to almost floor the gas pedal in order for the car to begin moving. I pulled over and then put the car in neuttral. The jerked violently and shifted very hard as I then tried to put it in reverse and the into park. I tried to put the car back into drive and it would not accelerate at all. I had to turn the car off and then back on again in order to get it moving. The gears continued to shift violently. However, when I finally got moving again, the car would not go over 35 mph. The car was inspected and an error code for the internal speed sensor came up, which is part of the valve body for the transmission. My car only has 59,000 miles on it. Mercedes is very aware of this problem on 2006-2007 C230 models! in fact, they are having a dispute with the manufacturer of the valve body because it is poor quality and defective. I have seen numerous other complaints related to this issue. My local mercedes dealership quoted me $2,400 to repair this defective part. I was lucky in that I was not driving at 60 mph on the highway when this malfunction occurred. This is an extremely dangerous issue and a recall should be issued for this part.
While driving the vehicle, the check engine light began to flash rapidly, the engine began to run extremely rough, had little power, and was no longer drivable. Luckily, this happened on a surface street and not on the freeway where, I believe, it could have resulted in harm to me or other drivers. The problem was caused by a defective plastic bushing in the intake manifold which broke and was sucked into valve #4 which then burned the valve. At the time of the incident, the vehicle had approximately 84,000 miles on it. I was informed by the mechanic who performed the repair on my vehicle that their mb parts supplier stated that mb is aware of this defective plastic bushing. However, the parts supplier was apparently not personally aware of it causing the type of extensive damage I experienced. Mb refuses to acknowledge, at least to me, that they are aware of past instances involving this defective plastic bushing or to even consider that it is a problem that they should take responsibility for before it results in harm. I hope someone will take this problem seriously and investigate its potential for harm.
Car will not go over 20 miles after stopping. I have to pull over put the car in park and restart. The car will run fine for awhile and a day or so later, the problem returns. This is extremely unsafe when your in traffic. I'm so afraid I'm going to get hit from behind trying to get off the road. I have been to 3 mechanics and told they cannot fix the problem due the theft deterrent on the car. I have an appointment at mercedes on Friday and have been told it will be approx. $2000. 00 to replace the plate in the transmission. Something needs to be done.
