Please allow this to serve as a limited notice to I) mercedes-benz ag, ii) mbusa and iii) daimler ag of a new takata airbag inflator rupture for tread compliance purposes. The subject vehicle is a 2012 mercedes-benz C250w,VIN#: ***************** (the vehicle). I have the privilege of representing two individuals who were severely injured on 11/7/2020 when the passenger-side takata airbag installed in the vehicle improperly ruptured during a crash event deployment. The vehicle was in motion at the time of the rupture. Due to the violent explosion of the inflator module, the inflator's igniter caps and housing blew apart and struck the passenger, a young female, in the face and head with lethal velocity. The incident occurred in pinellas county, florida. The young female passenger has been hospitalized for 2 weeks with severe injuries and multiple surgical procedures. Her current injuries include but are not limited to, loss of vision in her left eye, cognitive trauma, facial paralysis and diminished hearing capacity in both ears: as shown below, the passenger-side airbag module blew apart (as we have seen in multiple passenger-side takata bags)due to the large amount of ammonium nitrate propellant used in this model for deployment. The below images show pieces of the inflator module post-explosion, including the inflator mesh, housing and igniter caps from stage 2 separation. ## VIN passed ## 2012 mercedes-benz C250w ##.
"takata recall" - my vehicle has the recall since January 18, 2017 with no resolution to date. Fortunately no crashes have taken place in my car but I don't want to see what happens with the airbag inflator if it does.
Takata inflators - I received a letter from Mercedes Benz stating what's wrong with the airbags, all the dangers (including death) and that I'm in group priority 7. I'm being informed that the part will not be available until 12/18 (this being 01/18). In the meantime I need to drive a car that could potentially kill me or a passenger. How is this ok? I expect a part now, not in 11 months.
Takata recall. Mercedes-benz is in clear violation of 49 u. S. C. Chapter 301 in that they have failed to correct what is desribed as a passenger-side airbag inflator that could rupture deploying metal fragments that could kill or seriously injury this car's occupants.
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2012 mercedes-benz C250. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 17v017000 (air bags) for the front passenger inflator; however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
Takata recall; I received notice of recall for defective airbag inflators on January 10, 2017. Called to schedule recall repair with Mercedes Benz of sugarland in sugarland, texas. Informed that parts were not available at that time and I would receive notice from the Mercedes Benz company when parts become available and repair would be scheduled. It is now October 23, 2017 and parts are still not available per dealership's service department. I'm currently operating a vehicle with potentially dangerous air bags and cannot get any remedy. Help me.
Takata recall: this vehicle also has a safety recall on this vehicle and the dealership stated they had no replacement parts to repair the inflators, so it is dangerous for the car to be driven.
