2 Air Bag problem of the 2012 Mercedes Benz C250

Failure Date: 03/01/2025

The model/year mercedes-benz are well known for experiencing this/these particular issues. My research has shown that these year/make/model vehicles are experiencing the same type of mechanical failures nationwide. The issues all relatively begin around 75,000 miles. I've only had my car 3 years putting 30000 on it hardly driven/cared for **issue found:** oil was leaking onto the ignition coil and spark plug of cylinder 3. **source of leak:** valve cover gasket failure. **recommended repairs:** - replace the valve cover gasket (to halt the oil leak). - replace spark plugs and ignition coil (which were contaminated/damaged by oil). **relevance to warranty:** the valve cover gasket is only covered if it fails as a result of an internally lubricated engine part causing damage. Ignition coils and spark plugs are maintenance items and are not covered by warranty plans. **required repairs (identified mechanical issues)** - **coolant pipe leak – $850** **issue:** coolant leaking from a pipe on the side of the cylinder head. **relevance to warranty:** typically not covered unless it pertains to a failure in a covered system such as the water pump or cylinder head due to an internal breakdown. This is likely classified as an external plumbing component, which is not included. - * feed line leak – $600** **issue:** oil leaking from the side of the engine, traced back to the oil feed line. **relevance to warranty:** this is not typically covered unless the oil feed line is part of the oil pump system and has failed due to an internal issue (usually regarded as an external line). **other items found (worsening issues)** - **timing chain rattle / cam adjuster noise – $6,000** -**issue:** rattling sound during startup. **diagnosis:** noise emanating from the timing chain and camshaft adjusters. **relevance to warranty:** this is covered under secure plus, as both the timing chain and camshaft adjusters are recognized as internally lubricated par.

6 Air Bag problem of the 2014 Mercedes Benz C250

Failure Date: 05/14/2024

The passenger airbag was replaced under the takata recall. Recently the airbag indicator light came on for the driver airbag. We have been notified by the dealership that this airbag needs replaced. They provided an estimate of $2,652. 29. We reached out to mercedes due to this being a safety issue and also due to the fact that the passenger airbag was replaced under a recall. They are unwilling to assist. It is illogical that just the passenger airbag is faulty in the recall but that the driver's airbag is fine as they came from the same manufacturer and installed when the vehicle was built. We are concerned about either deploying on its own or if it will deploy in an accident.

19 Air Bag problem of the 2014 Mercedes Benz C250

Failure Date: 05/29/2021

The current vehicle I have, is suppose to have a back up camera as part of being the basic standard for a 2014 c- class Mercedes Benz. Ive asked the place I bought he car from and also ed hicks imports, who also legally sells Mercedes Benz in corpus christi, to install one, especially because according to the VIN reports I bought, it was initially on the vehicle. I was even willing to pay them to install a factory made original mb backup camera that should’ve been there in the first place but they tell me to go buy an aftermarket! after further research, it turns out Mercedes Benz makes all their cars with backup cameras or the parktronic option which is added sensors !!! before my car was even brought over to the USA in 2014! yes, all of these issues have been confirmed by another dealer, which is auto nation here!!!! besides that, ed hicks imports supposedly fixed two factory recalls with my car, where one was if the airbag on the passenger front side goes off, it would kill or harm, myself, and any occupants in the vehicle due to the metal fragments that would also burst and pierce, or exit through our bodies. However, my airbag notification comes on every time someone is in the front passenger seat as a warning, as well as my own driver side airbag that just started coming up when I turn on my vehicle. The steering is not fully mounted straight either, so it’s causing me a ton of gas to get to the closest places in town, as well as having me turn the wheel twice as much as I normally would need to on a car with a steering wheel properly mounted, which makes the time for me to finally turn my vehicle at any given time to turn a lot slower than other drivers around me. The last thing is the body of my vehicle not be big properly aligned, I did not know the car had been in any accidents, and recently discovered it’s been in 7 !!!so it makes sense why the whole chassis resembles a chopshop car all of these parts of my vehicle are available for inspection.

20 Air Bag problem of the 2013 Mercedes Benz C250

Failure Date: 04/14/2021

Driving vehicle normally and turn the wheel and hear clicking sound from around steering wheel. Front, drivers air bag malfunction light is illuminated and horn nor any controls on steering wheel work at all. Error message displayed "front left malfunction, service required" symbol for airbag displayed. Took vehicle to mercedes of palm beach dealership and they stated their were no open recalls on this model. I mentioned campaign 2017120024 (elec) campaign desc. 1709p46c62 (elec) and they state no open recalls on my vehicle. Took vehicle to reputable established mercedes repair shop and they diagnosed the issue as "no communication with steering control module" repairman states this is a common issue with this car. I believe this is a serious safety issue with this vehicle as the airbag malfunction can possibly cause serious injury to the driver and the horns inability to function prevents the driver from alerting any other drivers if they stray from lane, are backing out of parking space, or distracted at a red traffic signal.

21 Air Bag problem of the 2013 Mercedes Benz C250

23 Air Bag problem of the 2012 Mercedes Benz C250

Failure Date: 11/11/2020

My mercedes has a recall for the takata air bags. I do not live in close proximity to a mercedes dealership. I have spoken to the dealership in orange park, FL which is around 85 miles away. I have, also, spoken to mercedes customer care. Neither will assist in having my car picked up and taken to the dealership or are they offering any assistance in removing a barrier to have the air bag replaced. I understand this is an important recall but how do I comply and mitigate risk of injury if mercedes is not willing to help car owners who live in rural areas? please advise.

26 Air Bag problem of the 2013 Mercedes Benz C250

Failure Date: 05/13/2020

Per the attached repair order 948486 dated may 13, 2020, when I brought in the car to fletcher jones in newport beach for the airbag recall, I thought both of the takata airbags were replaced and not just the passenger airbag. In fact, repair bill job a states: “replace driver and front passenger airbag”. “no charge” I did not notice that they only replaced the passenger airbag. I would not have known the driver’s side was not replaced if the airbag warning light did not come on. Please direct fletcher jones to finish this repair properly. Per the enclosed photos, my dash display now has an image of the airbag and it says “front left malfunction service required”. I am very worried what will happen if we get into an accident. Per the highlighted text attached, on April 14, 2021, a driver reported: “front drivers air bag malfunction light is illuminated and horn nor any controls on steering wheel work at all. ” I checked the horn and the steering wheel controls on our C250 when I read this. I discovered they do not work on our car as well. This drivers report goes on to say: “…repairman states this is a common issue with this car. I believe this is a serious safety issue with this vehicle as the airbag malfunction can possibly cause serious injury to the driver and the horns inability to function prevents the driver from alerting any other drivers if they stray from lane, are backing out of parking space, or distracted at a red traffic signal. ” on repair order 948486 fletcher jones tried to reset the headrest which popped open when I sat in the car and put my head against it to rest. It was not due to any accident, the car was stationary. Fletcher jones could not reset the headrest and asked for $1200 for a new one. Clearly this is also a defect because it did not occur during an accident and the headrest should not have separated. An attached article shows the takata airbag problems still exist as ticking time bombs. Mb ceo did not reply to my letter.

34 Air Bag problem of the 2013 Mercedes Benz C250

Failure Date: 01/31/2020

Recall on my car is still waiting to be fixed. I bought this car brand new in April 2013. Mileage to date is only 22, 271 miles. I am now back in canada but could not bring my car to canada because there is an outstanding recall. In may 2018, the recall on steering was fixed. Because I do not live in California anymore, it is in a garage wasting away. I only usse the car in my yearly visits to check on it. Last 2018, I used the car for less than 1,000 miles. In 2019, I have not used the car. Last Feb 2020, I requested a friend to have my car checked at an mb dealership (fletcher jones in fremont, CA). They replaced the whole steering mechanism because it was leaking oil profusely. I complained that since the recall on the steering was only fixed in may 2018 and used the car less than 1,000 miles, how can the steering mechanism damaged as such. Also, although the car is almost 7 years old, the total mileage on the car is only 22. 291 miles. Is it possible that there is a manufacturer's defect in this part? on account of the fron passenger airbag recall not yet being fixed, I left my car in California. It was scheduled to be fixed in 2019 but was moved to April 2020. I have wasted so much money in this car but am not enjoying or benefiting from it. I pray that the airbag recall in this car be finally fixed this coming April as I have decided to drive it from fremont, CA to toronto, canada this coming first week of may with a CO-driver. I am feed up spending so much money on a car I am not using and do not benefit from. Please help me get the airbag fixed before I drive it to toronto canada from stockton, CA , a distance of more than 2,600 miles, exposing myself and my CO driver to high risk of not having a proper working airbag.
