Mercedes Benz C300 owners have reported 476 problems related to electrical system (under the electrical system category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Mercedes Benz C300 based on all problems reported for the C300.
The sam box (electrical system fuze panel) located under the hood is in a spot where if the lid isn't on correctly water will drain from the windshield right into the sam box and cause the vehicles electrical system to deploy the steering wheel airbag. That's at least what happened to me. It was raining out that day and I guess I went over a bump that caused the lid of the sam to get out of place. I drove home and the car seat for a few hours. I went out upon unlocking the door as soon as I pulled the handle to open the driver side door the steering wheel airbag blew and the vehicle is now in srs mode. The dealership had told me that it's a design flaw but wants me to pay for the diagnostic. No lights were on and I did not file a police report.

Last week just before thanksgiving my car of 134,000 miles wouldn't start. Had it towed to my mechanic only to find out like so many others that the electronic steering module(esl) is 1,500. 00 defective. Yet with this being a common issue there is no recall. Guess I'm going to a Toyota.

Car worked fine, all the sudden it wouldn't turn over, I would put the key in and turn it and nothing would happen, I was stuck and had to catch a ride, lucky that I was able, a car company that is supposedly reliable shouldn't allow there cars to completely give out on people during the middle of winter storms and not take ownership, when the customer has taken good care of the car. Talked to several mechanics and turned out it was the electronic steering lock (esl) module that had malfunctioned probably due to the software and electrical. Due to this only the benz dealerships can repair, I had to tow it to a dealership and was charged around $2000 after haggling over the price. Terrible experience and should be recalled by mb, I have seen many complaints about this online and was very disappointed there wasn't a cheaper solution. Was both a safety issue, inconvenient and very costly.

Had an oil change at a mercedes dealership after driving for a couple hours. Check engine was on for a code p052e, being crankcase ventilation system. Had the car diagnosed, cost to repair 1,600 dollars. Went through with repair, the code pop up again (p052e). Having to bring vehicle constantly to mercedes dealerships.
Engine misfire, rough idle, shake when come to red light stop, burnt smell inside cabin, loss of power.
I purchased the vehicle in 2015, and a few months ago I started having issues with the steering wheel, as well as an error message with the airbag. More recently, I am experiencing issues with my ignition switch, and after doing some research I’m seeing that many people who drive the mage and model of my vehicle are experiencing issues with their ignition switch suddenly going out. I’ve been quoted 2k to repair the issues, but I feel the mercedes should be responsible for taking care of what seems to be a faughty ignition switch with this particular model. There was no warning, no indication that there was a problem, one day my car just wouldn’t start. I need to report this to make sure buyers are aware with issues with the C300 model for all vehicles that are a 2013 and under.

Upon starting my vehicle today the center screen did not power on. The vehicle displayed several messages indicating various safety features were unavailable, including blind spot assist, lane keeping assist, parking assist, etc. Additionally, the exterior cameras (e. G. , reverse camera) were inoperable as well. Since the center screen controls the sound system and climate control system, those systems were also unavailable. I restarted the car several times but the screen remained off. I purchased this car in August 2022 and have driven it approx. 3,600 miles - this is the second time this issue has occurred. The first time happened in sept 2022 and it resolved by itself the following day. However, I believe this problem presents a safety concern since most, if not all, of the vehicle's various safety systems are disabled when it occurs.

Throughout the year, the car had many issues, the blind spot sensors and glass sensors didn't work, and it constantly showed that the stop/start system wasn't working. Twice, the car turned off by itself at a stoplight. Since everything is controlled through the car's large monitor, including the navigation, air conditioning, and all other functions, the monitor frequently shut off and it was necessary to turn it off and on again, or wait until the next day for it to work again. The scariest incident happened during a heavy rainstorm. I was driving on the road surrounded by other cars when my car suddenly stopped abruptly and began to park itself in the middle of the road. All sensors failed! the cameras were going in and out without stopping, all sensors were beeping loudly and flashing, the check engine light came on, and the blind spot sensors wouldn't turn off. I couldn't do anything with the car or control it. I turned the car off and on four times just to get it off the road. When I called mercedes, they didn't think it was a serious problem and made me an appointment for a month later. I brought the car in, but they didn't give me any timelines or updates on what was happening with my car. I called them for five days, but they didn't even look at it. Please help me resolve the issue with my car and the dealership!.
The contact owns a 2022 mercedes-benz C300. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. Additionally, the contact stated that on numerous occasions, the vehicle failed to start. The contact then stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle hesitated and stalled. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle. The contact stated that she felt unsafe driving the vehicle and concerned for her safety. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was advised to contact the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 5,000.
Car has been in and out of the shop. Initially I have been contacting mercedes about airbag messages and continued message of srs malfunction on dashboard. Airbags had been recalled and supposedly replaced on multiple occasions. This srs continues to remain even after repair or being seen for this issue only for other components to have failed and me having to pay for those in the process. The srs malfunction remains an issue until the next issue is affected. Recently an entire electronic sam module component was replaced as the culprit only to have more issues and the srs remained. Mercedes has contended that each time they saw the vehicle the the srs malfunction was not the problems while other documents were repaired such as battery and sam. In the meantime since then the car has stalled, components that were working are no longer inoperable. There was a recall that was applied to only specific vehicles of my model year which state the srs malfunction was to be replaced and made whole. I never received one of those notices and I will note that my vehicle obviously was affected and should also have this component replaced as it fits the same model year and make of the issues mercedes has repaired already on affected vehicles. This issue has been on going for several years and mercedes has failed to rectify this component that makes it dangerous and causes safety concerns for us with the understanding that their note on their website about the srs malfunction appeared to me a cop out for them to not be responsible for the fix and recall thsr may have affected more vehicles than its originally accessed number. Instead of fixing this issue they continually find other repairs they indicate as the issue only to end up right back with the same srs malfunction and stalling issues with vehicle once again and want to use excuse of car's age as issue and failing to acknowledge and address the srs malfunction. Your system would not allow file upload. I can still provide.
Car slow down and stop and cannot start in traffic….

The contact owns a 2008 mercedes-benz C300. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power. The contact stated an unknown warning light illuminated. The contact stated she was able to restart the vehicle and drove the vehicle a short distance and the vehicle lost motive power again. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The contact stated while the vehicle was sitting in the driveway, the vehicle independently started and accelerated. The contact stated that the battery terminals had to be disconnected. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with failed wire harness and the wire harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 171,846.
I was driving in the highway 50 mph and I was braking and my car slipped in the other line of the highway and almost had and accident !!!! and cars switched off when driving almost had incident!!!! I saw that many people have the say problem like me about rusted component please do something because people are losing their lifes.
Check engine light appeared this morning, had the code scanned and found it to be p052e. This code is in reference to the positive crankcase ventilation valve, which is responsible for routing excessive crankcase gases. After extensive research online, it would seem this is a known issue for mercedes once they reach 50,000 miles, right outside of warranty. This is a very costly fix due to it being labor intensive. This should be a recall as it is a known mechanical issue, and even the dealers echo the same.
When driving I accelerated and then the engine light turned on. After that the car was jolty and turned off completely when stopped. Had to force a restart at the light. Code that came back was p052e. This is a major and common issue with these cars. Part is 400+ dollars. Labor is much more since this is a 6 hour job. The work to replace this part is incredibly intensive that makes it impossible for regular car owners to change. Mercedes refuses to recognizes this as a common issue. But the truth is they designed a faulty system that they claim to have updated a handful of times now.
The small plastic located inside the sliding panoramic sunroof explode and the panasonic sunroof can be open/close or up/down normally but when I hit close it will stop where the broken pieces was and the roof will automatically move back to the fully open position dealer said need the rail replaced -2057800175 -2057800275 motor is broken, need to be replaced , he said after saying the roof can go forward and backward, up and down but can’t close completely. I was gullible to believe what the technician and sale guy said. Technically technician can check the voltage and say it for sure if it is broken. Also, a technician already knew that the sliding rail is damaged. He jumped to the conclusion that motor is broken because of sunburn. I have asked my nephew what he would do in this situation. He innocently said he would replace new sliding rails first and try to run if the “alleged motor “ is really broken. If it is broken, he can just switch to a new motor before testing to confirm it working. He wouldn’t decide to buy a new motor that cost $1,400 extra while the old one might be working properly. Anyway, labor with rails and “motor” cost $3500. Then later I learn I’m not alone. How many affected from this defective parts that mercedes doesn’t sell it separately. Owner must buy 2 set of rails- a left set and a right set. Cost $1100 total. So since the number of affected are pretty high, a few factory in china and turkey decides to produce these little and sell it online for $15-92, glue and lubricants included. -number of owners struggling to find parts https://mbworld. Org/forums/c-class-w205/734208-pano-roof-failure-2. Html parts that mercedes cannot sell it separately so owners have to buy 2 sets left set and right set rails. “try words like repair sunroof kit for mercedes “ on ebay only a few couple thousand people buying it in 2022 alone. . While driving and when parked the headlights flicker on and off. I have no headlights while driving at night, during adverse weather conditions and during dawn hours. I could crash into other drivers, or they could crash into me because they can’t see me. When a parking bulb blows it fuses and melts everything together causing the replacement of the entire headlight unit, this has happened twice.
The above multiple problems/parts at issue. To include other/I am not sure. Started at or approximately February 2023. The (automatic folding side view folding mirrors before resolution) malfunctioned 3 separate times before being fixed. During that time the (cooling system malfunction reduced drive performance service required), displayed 2 separate unknown dates on the dashboard screen. The mb dealership service diagnostic check made was not able to detect the trouble and was never fixed). On Monday, 08/21/2023, by (usps) delivered a Mercedes Benz official letter head dated August 2023, stating that an (important safety recall) for my make and model was issued. For the (fuel pump impeller module & unfortunately, the remedy is not yet available). August 2023, the (battery voltage level percentage warning light) displayed 2 separate times. Then unknown dates, the front left driver's and right passenger's window were only going down by about 10-25% and up by about 90%, without completely closing. On 10/26/2023, the (coolant system malfunction reduced drive performance serviced required) displayed. It has been at the henderson of mercedes-benz dealership to this date because knowing and understanding of the issues and unable to repair the problem. Additionally, being told the fuel pump recall parts not available until may of 2024. Monthly payments are still made, but the vehicle is not or cannot be driven due to the c-class sedan operator's manual on pages 26-27, noting this could cause crash, injury and/or death. I (fear for myself, family, public's safety & life). The vehicle was brand new build and only has about 2,300 actual miles total. Reasonable time, due process has been given or allowed and being told it is unknown when or how all repairs will be fixed and still owning and not being able to drive the vehicle. Conclusion, I have loss all faith, trust and confidence in vehicle and if all will ever be fixed and (I want a total & full refund now).

I was driving on highway i95, all the sudden, the vehicle shows, power steering malfunctioning see owner's manual. I've lost the power steering in the middle of the highway. The steering was so hard and not safe. The next day, I've started the car and the issue isn't there anymore! now the car is driving fine!!! please, this need to be fixed, cause it may happen again, and that happens on a sharp curve, it may lead to a crash!.
Due to apparently deficient sunroof water drain system design, rainwater and condensation entered the passenger compartment under the carpeting, potentially damaging the vehicle's electrical wiring. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. A dealer has inspected and confirmed the damage. Initial symptoms of the problem were wet carpeting and the sound of water sloshing around under the floor of the passenger compartment.
First week, the car would take off fast as soon as the brakes were released. Then first time I used the heat there was a crackling sound coming form the side of the center display and it got extremely hot, I was on the fwy driving in the rain. Brakes: intermittently, when braking, the car speeds up as if shifting to n, problematic in the fwy traffic behind another car, sometimes the brake pedal can be heard rattling really lose underfoot, brakes also used to groan when backing up. Electrical: intermittently, the door/trunk lock, side mirror, garage door opener do not work, and the dash displays change by themselves, the worst is the unreasonably hot center display that burns fingers, and becomes untouchable on hot days. Transmission: seems not to work in unison with the accelerator as sometimes the rpm needle hits 3-4 but the car will not speed up or is sluggish. Other: the car intermittently kicks, like being rear ended, it happens at different speeds and stopped or driving, continuing a few times intermittently for a day or two. Twice have taken the car to mbz dealership, one for 2 days, another for 10 days, they said they reset everything and all was fine. The issues are intermittent and hard to duplicate for some one who does not drive the car regularly. The dealership has been great but I do not feel they are able to reveal the problems with the vehicle. The car is like a computer with a virus and sometime gives erratic response.
- December 5, 2022, while driving on I-20 east in atlanta, georgia in the evening, at a speed of 15-20 mph my vehicle abruptly came to a stop in the middle of traffic with no warning and no action prompted by me while driving. There were vehicles positioned in front and behind my vehicle. Thankfully, the vehicle behind me was able to slam on its breaks to prevent colliding into my vehicle. - April 7, 2023, while driving in southwest atlanta in a residential area at a speed of 15-20 mph, while on the phone with one of my work colleagues, my vehicle abruptly stopped while driving past houses with no warning and no action prompted by me while driving. There was a vehicle positioned behind me that was able to slam on its breaks to prevent colliding into my vehicle. - may 5, 2023, while driving in a residential neighborhood on w wesley rd in atlanta at a speed of 10-15 mph in a construction zone, my vehicle again abruptly stopped with no warning. This time, the stop was much more forceful than previous incidents. - may 5, 2023 my car received the following prompt on my screen "your vehicle has detected a breakdown. Do you want to receive support from mercedes-benz roadside assistance" - mercedes assessed my car and reported the following: c111a00 radar sensor 1 is disrupted by interference from an external transmitter. " then, "note per owners manual, the system on the car cannot always take into account road, weather or traffic conditions///be aware of the limitations regarding the safe use of the these systems///" - the vehicle does not send an alert, forewarn, nor does it allow you to override an automatic emergency break - Mercedes Benz was flippant, dismissive and asked me to resume driving in an unsafe vehicle. I am filing this because they appear to have no regard for human life. I fear for my life and do not want to pass this burden on to someone else -in every instance described above, I contacted Mercedes Benz to make them aware.
