Mercedes Benz C300 owners have reported 18 problems related to headlights (under the exterior lighting category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
My vehicle continuously gives me warning/alert messages of headlight/signal/parking lamp issues. Upon inspection and taken to certified, reliable mercedes repair shops, lights are fully functioning, yet alerts continue on my display/dash. More importantly the electronic steering lock (esl) has failed on more than once costing very considrable amounts of repair bills, and it has happened without warning, I parked the car which has been perfectly maintained and with low mileage, and the steering wheel locks, making it almost impossible to even have it towed to be repaired.

Mercedes benz C300w light bulbs are constantly blowing out. Primarily due to the heat accumulation in the headlights. The plastic parts are melting, dry and very brittle which causes bulbs to overheat and blow out. Left & right parking lights(4), side lamps(2) and license plate lamp(2) have been changed out at least 15 times per lamp. The dealership suggest I change out the head lamp casing costins approx. $2k with labor. Aftermarket $700 plus labor. The service department at three seperate shops have stated this is a common problem with the mb C300.

This 2009 C300 was purchased new from the Mercedes Benz dealership in jacksonville FL as a retirement gift for 20 years of naval service. About a year later I noticed the daytime running lights continuously blinking during the day. The next problem is with the front headlight units each time a blubs blows, it fuses everything including wires together requiring the replacement of the entire headlight unit. This has happen three times with both the left and right headlight units. The difference in price is $28. 00 for a replacement blub vise $600. 00 plus dollars for the entire unit. The dealership has no problem charging me the cost to replace a manufactures defect and safety issue. There should be an immediate recall of this unit.
I took my C300 Mercedes Benz (with only 52,000 miles), to the Mercedes Benz of miami dealership to check the wiring in both head lamps, since the headlights were intermittently flickering on and off, while driving at night. This electrical problem was of serious concern for me as a 72 years' old senior, could be a dangerous safety issue, creating a life and death situation. Mercedes benz dealership assistant service manager, juan obando, told me that the wiring to the headlamps was corroded and could not be replaced. I would have to buy two (2) complete new headlamp assembly units costing $1,890. - plus tax and labor installation. While driving at nights and unpredictably and intermittently losing head and low beam lights, is of grave safety concern to me and creates a hazard to pedestrians and other drivers on the roadway and highways.

A little less than a year ago my driver side inner parking light bulb failed, and about a week later the passenger side inner parking light bulb failed as well. When I went to replace them, the bulb and headlight assembly showed visible damage from where it appeared as if both bulbs caught on fire and melted into the headlight assembly, permanently damaging both driver and passenger headlight assemblies. There was the presence of charring on the bulb socket as well. I took the vehicle to the local Mercedes Benz dealership and they stated there was nothing they could do except to replace both headlight assemblies. If it were merely one bulb that failed in this manner, I would have chalked it up to maybe a faulty bulb or socket, but it is very odd that it occurred on both inner parking light assembly. Fortunately.

Headlights not working because of faulty, burnt wires. Mercedes will not honor warranty. Said wires are covered but not headlight although the wires are inside headlight and caused the lights to stop working. Happened on both my headlights.
Wires on both headlights melted and burnt. Concerned about a possible fire and my headlights not working. Mercedes will not cover under warranty. Can provide photos.
My car will be parked and engine not running and at any given time the upper front headlight on passenger side and the botom part of the rear tailight on passenger side will illuminate for no reason. It doesn't matter which position the lights are in.
I purchased this vehicle in 2009 and over the years I have replaced both front headlight assembly, left and right at the cost of $800. 00 each. I was told that a bulb blew fusing the wires together resulting in the replacement of the entire assembly. The driver seat head rest simply fell apart.
