The warning system for the rear lights have been going off since purchasing the certified preowned vehicle in June 2014. It was returned the dealer multiple times for the issue and never fixed. While driving at night I smelled something burning and the warning system informed me to check all of my rear lights. There were no lights functioning on the rear of the vehicle while driving. The lights, brake lights, turn signals, and rear fog lamps were all not functioning. When a road side technician checked the vehicle he saw burnt wires and melted plastic on the lighting mount. This occurred during a routine trip from new jersey into philadelphia, PA and included driving over the ben franklin bridge. Once I reach philly I stopped the vehicle and called for assistance. That is when the issue was located. The car was towed to the dealer for repair. No more information has been provided from the dealer yet.
I received a message to check the rear right (passenger) lights and turn signal. I just purchased the car used on may 20, 2014, and began getting the dashboard warning a few days later, but it was intermittent. On may 26, 2014, I inspected of the bulb carrier and pin connector and noticed that the connection involving the brown wire on the pin connector was burned and the corresponding connection on the bulb carrier was also burned/disintegrated and the area around the brown wire was very hot. It is difficult to know when the failure actually happened.
Light warning lights came on dashboard for rear light and turn signal. After looking @ the connecter found it smoking and melted . . . Immediatly unplugged it. Mb does not have a recall even though you are investigating .
From reviewing the site, this is the same complaint you have already had about these cars. It appears to already be under investigation. In our case, a number of the rear lights, including lights on both sides of the car, went out at once. This means turn signal lights, brake lights, side lights. The first clue was that multiple warnings came up on the dash. We stopped car, and on inspection, several lights also had stopped functioning. The was no obvious visual or olfactory sign of overheating or fire.
Similar to other complaints that have been filed against mercedes, it seems as though the electrical connection to my rear right light (brake light, running light, turn signal, etc. ) has melted and is no longer operational. The entire light is out and I get warning messages on the dash about the problem. It looks like this is the same problem that everyone else with the same make/model as me are having. Hopefully mercedes recognizes the scale of this flaw in their engineering and sends out a recall sooner than later.
Brake light, turn signal, & parking lamp all not working. The plastic connector at the end of the wiring was completely melted and black when the mechanic took it out. Could be a fire hazard.
Driving on highway, noticed that when I use my left turn signal it was flickering fast on the dash board, then warning message appeared on dash, check turn signal, check brake light, check fog lamp. When I got home, check all bulbs on the left rear light assembly, all bulbs are intact. Noticed the brown wire was a little corroded and like a burnt contact on the light assembly. Started the car again, everything is working okay. Now exact same messages appears more than often when im driving the car. Concerned on what may have caused the burnt plastic contact point on the light holder. I researched through the internet and a lot of people are having the same issue.
The contact owns a 2009 Mercedes Benz C300. The contact stated that the front driver's side headlight, rear driver's side brake light and the turn signals failed. Cars automated warning system indicated problems with right rear lighting system ("check right rear turn signal etc"). Took car to mechanic. There had been a short in the right rear electrical system. . . Plastic circuit box exhibited signs of a short and melted plastic. Mechanic replaced wiring, circuit box and lights. Could very easily have had a fire in the trunk of the car.
2008 Mercedes Benz C300 right rear lighting failures in the brake and/or turn signals of my vehicle. The failure can cause the lights to dim and or cause the lights to not illuminate at all.
There seems to be a light shortage on the right side, the right turn signal doesn't work properly. The lights work , the issue is the panel and the wire is now melted at the tip. The wire melted into the light panel.
Warning on dash shows rr brake light is out and turn signal lights is out. Went to look at the back of the car to see if the lights where on and the rr light assembly was dim. Open the panel where the bulbs are and the wire harness was fried. This might be a fire hazard.
