A fuel line in the engine compartment just above the skid plate on the drives side just right of the front wheel well leaks fuel where the line is crimped coming from the high pressure fuel pump. Fuel collects on the skid plate and when a stop at idea produces a strong fuel smell in the cabin of the car.

Hose clamps attaching the high pressure fuel line leading from the firewall-mounted fuel pump to the central fuel rail failed to maintain a tight connection. This leads to fuel leaking past the hose clamp connection into the open engine compartment during cold weather (sub-40 degrees fahrenheit) while the engine is running. When the ambient temperature in the engine compartment rises, either by environment or by heat generated from the engine, the fuel leak subsides. Symptoms when this occurs are a very strong fuel smell in the passenger compartment and also, upon further inspection, observation of liquid fuel pooling on the top side of the engine compartment under tray. Internet research also indicate that this is a fairly widespread problem affecting at least 2015-16 w205 model vehicles, and that multiple mercedes-benz dealerships in the united states have communicated verbally to other customers that this is a "known issue".

I took my car in for a multi point inspection at the end of November 2019 to mercedes of bellevue. I begun smelling gasoline from the inside cabin of my car a few days after the service and had to take the car back to the dealership. They found that fuel hoses going to the high pressure fuel pump to be leaking fuel. With this being a potential fire hazard and a safety issue, I argued with the dealer that it should be covered under warranty, which I still had a cpo warranty from purchasing the vehicle from this specific dealership. I did some research online and found that, this is a very common issue with my vehicle model, 2015 Mercedes Benz C300. I am unsure why this issue is not yet recalled by the manufacturer or why the dealership did not honor this issue tto be covered under warranty. . As a concerned customer of the hazardous possibilities a fuel leak could cause, I still moved forward with paying for the repair out of pocket versus continuing to debate with the finance and service personnel that it should be covered under warranty that I still had at the time.
I began smelling gas in the cab of the vehicle. After refueling, the vehicle was leaking gas from the right side in the driveway of my residence and the odor of gas in the cab began to increase. Merecedes personnel refused to acknowledge other issues and wanted to begin at their starting points regarding repairs. When this recall was addressed, I was informed it did not apply to my vehicle. After a lengthy elimination process, we learned the fuel pump flange had failed in this model as it has in other similar models. Merecedes at this point refused to extend a warranty consideration so I sought out an independent mechanic to repair it. Now mercedes is refusing to reimburse the cost of the repairs.

My 2008 Mercedes Benz 300c started then shut off in my driveway. I had the car less than 30 days from purchase. I called the dealer and he came and did something to the fuse band it start ed. Next day same thing, started then shut off. I had it towed to my mechanic, it took him two weeks to figure out what was wrong with it. He narrowed it down to the ignition switch. However, he want authorized to access the ignition, so it had to be towed to the dealer. The dealer came back after 2 weeks and said it was the fuel pump. Fine, I paid a little over $1k for the despair. I go to pick it up then I'm told it shut off. This is after a full diagnostic test. Mind you, my mechanic called the rep at Mercedes Benz and told them exactly what the issues was and they ignored it. Fast forward, I tell them in my frustration to go and fix the car. I get a quote of 878, and that they wouldn't charge for labor, parts only. They claim the parts had to be ordered from germany. Two weeks later, a full month and a half of waiting for my car, the dealer tells me the cost is now 1919. Ludicrous! they claim that I needed a key, that my key wasn't working. What? my key was working just fine. The C300 ignition issues are overwhelming and need to be recalled. Buyer beware!.
