Strong gasoline smell when I fill my tank up and park my car inside my garage. So strong that I worry about explosion due to my water heater with pilot light in the garage. I frequently open the garage door to let the accumulated gas odor dissipate or have to move the car outside. Strong gasoline smell goes away once the fuel level goes down about 1/8 to 1/4. This has been going on since 12/20/2020.

A strong fuel odor coming from the car, we tried to get the dealer to repair it under warranty and they said, over fueling was causing it, however with the tank half full it does still smell a lot like gas, a strong odor you can smell it outside, they don't want to take responsibility on it, after warranty expired they came up saying something is wrong with my fuel system that needs to be repaired but its not covered by warranty, there are a lot of complaints but they want people to pay for this, we are afraid this could start a fire while driving, or even worse burn my house down.

Strong smell of gasoline when tank is filled up.

The rear subframe has corroded around the areas where the trailing arm and control arm meet the subframe on both sides of the vehicle, and has disintegrated around the drivers side rear trailing arm causing it to have detached, along with a piece of the subframe. The metal of the subframe is distorted around the area of the break. The detached trailing arm and piece of subframe are now making contact with the fuel tank as well. The fuel tank could have easily ruptured and ignited when this car was still in operation, as this car was driven for several days before the manufacturing defect was discovered. The failure happened when coming to a gentle stop from 20-30 miles per hour on a straight road. There was a loud snapping noise from the drivers side rear. This car had 92,000 miles at time of the structural failure and has been regularly serviced, exclusively at mercedes-benz. Mercedes-benz USA customer service is unable to offer any assistance. This exact issue has led to a recall of the same model in canada, and there are countless NHTSA reports describing similar structural failures. Mercedes-benz USA is aware of this issue and is also aware that there is a recall in canada, but has made it clear that goodwill will not be extended.

This car left me stranded on the side of the road. The car was on working fine driving along then all of a sudden pushing the gas pedal did nothing and the car would not move. The engine shut off completely. The engine was not getting gas. The electrical and everything else was on in the car except the engine. The system in this car has a double fuel tank that only works on one side. The entire fuel system is faulty. The manager at mercedes told me himself that this is a design flaw in this car. There is no reason why a car with 24,000 miles should have broken down on the side of the road because the entire fuel system does not work. Faulty and horrible workmanship on a supposed luxury vehicle.

Strong smell of gasoline when tank is filled up. This has been an ongoing issue for a few months now. Don't know much about cars so didn't think much of it until I had a couple of people ask why my car smelled like gas. They let me know that it may be a gas leak somewhere.

My 2011 C300 smells like gasoline inside and outside after I fill the tank. The smell subsides after the gas tank reaches about half tank mark. During my research I came across a fuel system recall: NHTSA campaign id number: 12v557000 / manufacturer campaign number: 2013010004. My 2011 C300 is one of the vehicles listed. I contacted Mercedes Benz customer care at 800-367-6372; customer care stated that the VIN was not included in a recall. The current mileage is 78,381.

The vehicle has 67k miles. I noticed a gasoline odor coming from the ac a month ago since then, the odor intensity has drastically increased. The odor usually goes away after a few miles, however, today the odor did not go away and I noticed an onset of a headache since commencing the drive, I then became very drowsy and was very close to rear-ending the vehicle in front of me on the way home, but thankfully the collision warning system emitted a loud sound and I was able to react in time to press the brakes and avoid the collision. There was a recall on 3/10/2015 for vehicles manufactured between April 7, 2014, and July 25, 2014, for an issue with the fuel delivery module and the tank, my vehicle was manufactured January 2015, however, I believe the same issue is causing the gasoline fumes I have been experiencing in my vehicle ac system.

The fuel tank have rust cause it to leak, a risk of an engine fire or crash because of a fuel tank issue.

Exactly as described with other models, there was a strong gas odor inside and outside of the vehicle. It worsened after the car was refueled. It got so bad that fumes were seeping into the house from the garage. While driving, all windows had to be down. After researching online, I found out that there was a recall on other mercedes years and models for the same issue. The gas tank gasket is defective. My car is not included in the recall and I must pay to fix the hazardous condition.

Simonson mercedes-benz where it was diagnosed that the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unavailable.

Takata recall. After purchasing my 2010 mercedes c-300 I've noticed a gas smell from the rear passenger side but this has gotten worse after I park my car in my garage overnight. The entire garage and vehicle interior smell like gas. I then notice a gas leakage spot from the rear passenger side tire. This happens when I have full tank or half of the tank full of gas. I red about this online I called the dealership but I was told the recall/ extension tank warranty does not apply to my car. Concerning the seat-belt the rear passenger side seat belt is default. It does not buckle.

Our 2010 mercedes C300 with 24,500 miles car started to sell gasoline appx a week ago. We found out that mercedes has similar problems with their other cars and I believe this is a very serious problem since it involves gasoline. The mercedes dealer stated that our car does not have a recall for this problem even though it has the same problem as the other recalled models. The smell is constant and we cannot even park our car in our garage due to the fumes and strong smell. Mercedes of palm spring like to charge us $256 just to look at the car so we took our car to another repair shop and they stated that the fuel tank has a problem as the other models and our car is the 3rd merdeces that they inspected with the same problem that week. At this time mercedes is refusing to repair this on a warranty and as I stated this is a safety issue. I believe this is a very serious safety issue.

The check engine light comes on dealing with the catalytic converter/fuel system. The sensors are off causing the emission of too much gas. The car runs out of gas fast and does not drive well to get good gas miles per tank. The car's exterior lights also go out fast. This should not happen with a top of the line mercedes car.
