general problems of the 2007 Mercedes Benz E350

Vehicle began shaking on the highway. It was coming from under the front hood and was shaking the steering wheel. The check engine light came on. I pulled over and had it towed to the mercedes repair shop. They said it was related to a bad balance shaft and that it was a systemic problem with the engine in certain mercedes E350s. I was told I needed to replace the camshaft and it would cost $6,000!!! after some research, it looks like mercedes agreed, back in 2015, to cover only certain of these mercedes, but there was no recall. I could have been killed if I was rear ended.

The contact owns a 2007 mercedes-benz E350. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked with the engine running, the contact heard a loud rattling sound coming from the engine compartment. The contact called an independent mechanic and was informed that the camshaft balancer was damaged and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 257,000.

My car was running suddenly stop and does not start, I take it to mercedes dealer and they charge me $195. 00 plus tax to scanned it they found the ecm engine control module need to be replace. Cost is $2,300 plus tax. Please contact me for at your convenience so I can take further steps towards Mercedes Benz.

Upon filling up gas tank you can smell gas around the rear of the vehicle. This happens for the first day or two after filling up and then becomes less and less over time until you fill up again. There is a much stronger smell when inside an enclosed garage and I am worried about the fumes being ignited by a water heater pilot flame.

Engine light came on when I was driving. Did diagnostic and it says camshaft sensor problem. Which means it's not only the diesel models with this issue.

Engine code p0016 and p0017. Defective balance shaft and sprockets.

While driving on freeway, engine suddenly revved high and almost red-lined on rpm gauge. Exited freeway and rpm (while lowered) was still high. A 3rd party mechanic diagnosed transmission valve body failure and advised on replacement. This must be a a known issue because mechanic asked that in order to replace the part a valid personal id must be recorded as part of the parts replacement per mercedes.

Hi my name is rosalinda munoz owner of a Mercedes Benz E350 2007 I always been loyal to mercedes because I was in the be leave that they had safe cars but unfortunately with this vehicle I had a big problem I was driving in the freeway in the car just stop with a terrible odor of gas; I pull t the side of the road got out the car and call for help. The towing truck took my car to the mechanic than it was than when we find out that the this model and year of the car had problems with the fuel pump and many other problems. Called another towing truck to take it to Mercedes Benz dealer in monterey calif spoke with roy yamada wish he is the manager in that location they check the car and said that there wasn't any warranty in the vehicle that have to pay out of my pocket , I show him all the documentation from safe car. Gov also known as NHTSA I printed out all the documentation saying that Mercedes Benz extended the warranty in this vehicles for 15 years unlimited miles regales the ownership of the car. Even dough I took all this documents to roy at Mercedes Benz at monterey calif dealer he didn't want to fix the car, he told me and my husband that he exposed this to the Mercedes Benz representative from the head quarters and they are not approving it wish I really be leave that they should with no hassle at all. At this point I have no car and Mercedes Benz its not responding the according to the warranty of the extra 15 years unlimited miles and regardless of the ownership. Please I really appreciate that you help me to take care this matter.

My car has been having a high smell of gasoline for quiet a while after I fill up my tank, until eventually one morning I went out started my car before going to work a couple my weeks ago and it started but died after a few minutes and has not started since. It crank but does not start.

Balance shaft sprockets and idle gears problem, and p0016 ad p0017 engine light is on.

Gas smell at all times. Greater smell when stored . Engine light came on. Took to the dealer, charged $4,000. 00 to repair.

While driving and changing gears from first to second, at or around 10 - 20 rpm my engine became uncontrollable and jerked sporadically. I could not control the vehicle until it changed into 3rd gear and then began to drive as normal. The car does this repeatedly now until I feel it has become unsafe to drive. The jerking is random so I don't know when to expect it and what to do when it happens. It has caused me to veer off the road occasionally.

Every time the gas tank is filled 100% full (only until gas pump nozzle first click) and the car is being driven for less than 20 miles and parked, I can smell very strong gasoline odor from outside the car. I have tried to find the issue and lifted it up. What can be seen is about 1oz of gasoline puddle on rear undercover (underneath gas tank). Other than that, I can see leaked dried gasoline path on the side of the tank, which points to the location of the puddle. This string gasoline odor issue cannot be seen or smelled if the tank is filled only 3/4 of tank volume. This is issue has been reported to Mercedes Benz service at columbia, mo. However, they quoted $600 just to find the issue, even though this is clearly manufacturing defect, since hundreds of similar cases can be found at several forums and so many has been reported here.

My check engine like came on and I took the car to the dealership to trouble shoot the problem. I was told that the "balance shaft gear" needed to be replaced and that it would cost $5,500 minimum. I have since then learned that this is a defective part that has effected literally thousands of m272 engines that Mercedes Benz knowingly used even after learning that the metal components of this very important part of the cars engine would not last. The part typically fails after the manufacturer's warranty and therefore is not covered by the dealership or Mercedes Benz. A class action suit was filed in 2011 and the judge in the case failed to rule in favor of the consumer. I have read where when this defective part fails it can certainly cause a dangerous situation for passengers in the automobile. Many owners have described the failure of this part as failing while driving at highway speeds when the engine and steering are severely affected.

The engine light came on and I brought my car into the local mercedes dealer. The diagnosis result according to the service representative was a camshaft balancing rod problem and the estimate to replace the balancing rod was quote at $6500. I did subsequently look into this problem online and found that their are similar occurrences with this vehicle and the conclusion is that it is a manufacturing defect for this engine. The service representative agreed that it is too early for any engine to have this type of problem and called Mercedes Benz they decline to assist in this matter. Can NHTSA look into this problem and see if there is a problem with this engine? thank you.

The front inner tires get cupping over the time, I have to replace them every 10,000 miles. All the suspension parts are new put still the problem going on. It is a manufacturing problem with the heavy engine get the load on the power train and with the time it losing and make the tires cupping from the inner side.
