Mercedes Benz E350 owners have reported 23 problems related to brakes failed (under the service brakes category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
My 2016 mercedes e-350, which I bought 2 years ago as a cpo vehicle from a mercedes dealer has a problem with the e-parking brake system. I brought it to the dealer in March to have this repaired, and was told the entire parking brake cable and other parts needed replacement. I assumed this was a covered repair, especially with the extended warranty given on certified vehicles, and the fact the car is fairly new and has less than 50,000 miles. However the dealer said it is not covered by mercedes and would cost me over $2500 to repair. I contacted mercedes support directly, but they would not agree to cover this unusually and costly repair, as they claim (incorrectly) this is normal wear and tear, although I never had a parking brake system fail in the past on any vehicle. This raises a) serious safety issues as I can no longer use the parking brake, and b) mercedes should be obligated under their warranty program to cover this type of repair. Looking online, I see others have had similar problems, so this is a known issue with this model and year of vehicle. Please help me get mercedes to cover this safety needed repair at their cost, as they should be obligated. Brake failure while driving on freeway. Reduced braking message , esp message, and 'stop' on speedometer!.
At low speed , coming out of a grocery store parking lot, car went into sudden unintended acceleration without any warning. Fully pressing on the brake failed to slow or stop the car. With the brake not working and the car accelerating very fast the car became out of control until it crashed with a large rock /boulder when it stopped. There was extensive damage the the whole front half of the car. The car had to be towed in. I sustained a significant bruises of my breast bone and adjoining ribs. I am still in pain. This same exact malfunction with this same car as noted above occurred in 2013. I paid extra for mb to have an engineer examine the car but I was told nothing was wrong. On both occasions the air bags did not deploy.

Car brakes went out while driving on freeway 65 mph. Sbc red light went off and car brake was fully depressed all the way to the floor and braking took too long. Car display error message was braking power decreased. Depress brake fully. Turned off car and restarted but error message disappeared and car brakes fully again. Not good at all. Now I know that problem is lurking and can happen again anytime. Very dangerous situation that could have injured me, my passenger, or another person. Totally unacceptable for any car brakes to fail just like that. Due to manufacturer incompetence.
08/13/2018 when I was driving home today steering and brakes failed for like 1-2 minutes and I lost control. . Then all the instrument warning lighting started to flash continually the temp gauge and rpm was in motion. Srs and all pre safe functions malfunctioned I can send an video of this if there is a way to upload. I think this is a serious safety issue what if I lost control on a highway, even for a split seconds. Why I bought a mercedes I thought its a safer car well that's how they advertise it the best or nothing. But that couple of minutes was scary and shocking for me.

Warning light: reduced braking power - depress pedal fully. I understand mb service bulletin s142. 46-p-0012a addresses this issue but I can't get a copy on the net. Brakes fail until restart car. Dangerous. Recall the brake system for all of these cars. Mb stopped using this defective product. Vehicle was stationary when warning light went on. But dangerous to move car off of driveway.

The contact owns a 2006 mercedes-benz E350. While driving approximately 25 mph, the contact came to an abrupt stop and the brake pedal failed to respond when depressed. As a result, the contact crashed into the rear of another vehicle. The brake warning indicator illuminated. The contact sustained lower back and neck injuries that required medical attention. I experienced immediate brake failure while driving with no advanced warning. Received red light warning messaging stating reduced braking ability and to visit workshop. Immediately stepped fully on brake pedal with minimal to no response. Car eventually slowed down to a stop. A significant collision was avoided because I was driving around 15 mph on a residential side-street with no other traffic at the time. Had I been traveling on a major road at 35-40mph with moderate traffic I would have been unable to avoid a serious collision. Mercedes benz has recognized this braking issue and ordered an extended 10 year warranty with unlimited miles on the hydraulic sbc system, but I was told my 2006 vehicle was "out of warranty" by the dealership and would need to pay $2275 for repairing the hydraulic sbc. This problem is an immediate safety concern given the acute failure of the braking system and the high likelihood of a serious accident.

Test drove vehicle to verify proper repairs " after the service was done almost a month back, while I was taking out my vehicle out of the garage, the brakes failed and emergency brakes were used. I suspect serious manufacturing problem with my car.
The brakes on this car failed without warning while traveling on interstate at high speed. I have contacted mercedes and they have agreed to pay the cost of the spc brake unit under warranty; however, the costs of labor is very high and I have to cover it. I am a retired elderly combat disabled war veteran with limited funds and believe mercedes should recall these dangerous vehicles and and cover the entire costs. The vehicle is currently under repair at fields mercedes in lakeland florida.
Catastrophic sbc system failure. Driving on the turnpike at 65 mph suddenly brakes stopped functioning at all, dashboard turned red with the message sbc failure, depress brake pedal in full, but there was no braking power at all. Coasted, took the nearest exit and could tow the car. I was very lucky. Not a good experience to discover you have no brakes on the highway. Car is in a mechanic shop now, repair will cost over $ 2000. This brake system is a failure, mb discontinued it and went back to the traditional hydraulic system. Mb should had made a recall on this issue as they are aware and it is a failure that can not be predicted, maintenance or age apparently have no influence on the part failing otherwise mb would include the part's replacement as part of a preventive maintenance service. This is a very serious safety issue, and I have seen several people complaining about the same.
I turned on my engine and made a u-turn to travel up my street. When I completed the turn a red warning light flashed that my break system was not fully operable/take car immediately to dealer. In a few feet, my brakes failed completely, car would not stop, and emergency brakes did not work. When I put my foot on the brakes, it went to the floor; no amount of pumping stopped the car. The warning flashed "pump brakes!¿ I continued, to no avail, and finally, about 15 feet before the intersection, the car slowed to a stop. This occurred on Monday (I had just picked up my car the Friday before because the brakes were making a "squeaky-chirp like sound when pressed, after work had been done by the dealer on another issue. I took it back the same day that happened and was told there was air in the brakes; that usually, when pumped 15 times, it goes away. From then on, when I put the car in park and/or pressed the emergency brake, it continued to move forward, as though not held securely). The dealer towed it to the shop and now says my sbc system failed but there was no way to foresee or predict that problem by checking the brakes. I believe there is a severe problem with the brake system; especially given the dealer saying that there is no way to detect a problem that causes the brake system to completely fail. They now want to charge me $2000 to fix a brake problem I believe they caused when they had my car initially and/or did not identify after me taking it to them, twice, thereafter. This was a terribly frightening experience. I, my grandkids, and others on the road narrowly missed being involved in an accident and injured, or killed. Thank god I was on a residential street and the car stopped before I was forced into traffic. I saw that others online have had the same problem and can't believe no one has been killed due to this braking system issue.
I was coming out of the parking garage. I proceeded to the entrance to garage. The street was narrow for two cars to pass by. I made a right turn from the garage exit to the narrow street with 5 mph speed. There were two cars about 25 feet away already on that street. Those two cars were waiting to make a left or right turn on main street at the t junction. Suddenly my car accelerated to 45 mph approximately. I applied the brake but the brake did not even slow down the car. With the brake not working and the car accelerating very fast, the car became out of control. I was approaching the cars in front of me. In order to avoid hitting the cars in front of me, I steered my car to the left of these two cars. I went fast beyond these two cars and came on the main road. I noticed a car was coming close from the right side which would have hit my car. At the same time, I noticed that on the lane on left side there was no car in close vicinity. To protect other cars hitting my car, I steered my car to the left lane and drove my car over the curb. The car went over the curb and hit a street electric pole. The curb and the pole stopped the car. The middle section of the front of my car hit the pole. The impact of sudden stop destroyed the front middle part of the car and also shattered the glass windshield. The air bag did not deploy. Upon my insisting, Mercedes Benz checked the car for sudden acceleration and brake failure. They told us that nothing was malfunctioning in my car. I do not trust them: so I seek your help in this investigation for sudden acceleration and brake failure as they did not find the cause of car malfunctioning. I was taken to emergency for treatment in an ambulance. I missed several days from office. I am still physically hurting on neck/shoulders and continue to take prescription pain killers; but lucky to be living.
