1 Service Brakes problem of the 2014 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 04/01/2026

Brake line failure. Front section of the line that feeds the rear wheels leaked while traveling. Warning light came on. Purchased brake fluid and drove to local service provider. The rear section left to right above subframe was found to be rotted, but not leaking yet. Local service provider replaced front and rear brake lines.

2 Service Brakes problem of the 2012 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 03/20/2026

The brake lines on my car rusted out from the brake booster all of way to the rear calipers. This is the third time it’s happened to me as I’ve owned multiple e classes. If mercedes-benz covers the subframe, why is the brake lines which are located right above said subframe not covered?.

3 Service Brakes problem of the 2010 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 03/10/2026

I am writing to formally submit a complaint regarding my 2010 E350 (VIN # [xxx] ). I have taken great pride in owning and maintaining this vehicle, and I want to share my concerns based on my recent experience. I have consistently kept this car well-maintained, following all recommended service schedules and ensuring that any necessary repairs were handled promptly. Up until now, I have not experienced any significant issues with the vehicle. It has been reliable, well cared for, and in excellent condition. Recently, when the brake line indicator came on, I immediately took the vehicle to a mechanic to have it inspected. I was informed that the brake fluid reservoir was empty and that there was a leak present. Upon further inspection, the mechanic identified that the leak was coming from the rear of the vehicle. It was then determined that the issue involved the rear brake line located near the gas tank. This is extremely concerning, not only because it directly impacts the safety of the vehicle, but also because, based on the research I have conducted, this appears to be a common issue with this particular model. Given that this is a critical safety component, it is troubling that such a failure would occur despite the vehicle being properly maintained. Based on what I have researched, I feel that I have a valid complaint. This does not seem to be the result of neglect or lack of care, but rather a potential defect or known issue associated with this vehicle. As an owner who has taken every step to properly maintain and care for this car, it is both frustrating and disappointing to now be dealing with such a serious problem. I am requesting that this matter be reviewed thoroughly and that an appropriate resolution be provided. I believe it is reasonable to expect accountability for an issue that appears to be both common and safety-related. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. I look forward to your response and a fair resolution. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information.

Brake lines leaking because corrosion under frame from abs module which is essential a safety aspect that should not be happening.

6 Service Brakes problem of the 2010 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 01/19/2026

Car was found to have the rear subframe corrosion for issue. But also the brake lines were corroded very badly. They should be covered under the rear subframe extended warranty replacement. The rear brake lines are an frequent issue and almost always shows up when the subframe begins to rot. Also the pattern of the corrosion seems to be consistent across multiple incidents. Look at photos I uploaded and the reddit post; identical. Look at this post from reddit, almost identical corrosion on the rear brake lines as mine. Furthermore, it always is the rear brake lines, almost never the front. This is a manufacturer issue that needs to be looking into. 7 Service Brakes problem of the 2011 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 12/29/2025

Dealer notes: replace rear brake lines, found to be rusty recommend replacement with rear subframe replacement. This is a very well known issue and is not covered under recall from manufacturer. It will cost $3200 for brake line repair alone, not including the subframe. This is an extreme safety hazard and a common problem that has been acknowledged by the manufacturer.

8 Service Brakes problem of the 2012 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 11/26/2025

The rear subframe got separated from chassis. I was driving to work and had to hard brake to void a collision with another vehicle all of a sudden vehicle shifted to the left and I ended up on a curb. Further inspection vehicle`s rear subframe rotted out due to rust. Also, both rear brake lines from abs module to calipers are damaged due to corrosion. I ended up replacing both brake lines and did not think too much of it and now I see a lot of people complaining about both brake line corrosion and subframe separation or excessive rust, casing rear subframe to fail. It is a very serios safety issue and mercedes should hold accountable for these failures. My vehicle is 2012 mercedes E350 and only has 118k miles on odometer. I have attached pictures for the rear subframe for your review, but I did not take any pictures of the brake lines due to limited space to get my camera between the body and the rear subframe.

9 Service Brakes problem of the 2010 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 11/24/2025

It seems like brake lines corroded and need to be replaced. Same issue in this car with subframe and that was taken care of by the extended warranty but brake lines were not part of extended warranty? that should be investigated further. Rear subframe rust out and brake line corrosion are obviously related but mercedes is only addressing subframe. Why? a lot of people have this issue and it's a huge safety concern.

10 Service Brakes problem of the 2006 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 10/12/2025

The contact called on behalf of the owner of a 2006 mercedes-benz E350. The contact stated that while his mother was driving at an undisclosed speed and approaching a traffic light, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the brakes failed to function as intended. The brake pedal was depressed down to the floorboard. The contact's mother used the parking brake to stop the vehicle. The abs warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the residence and then to an independent mechanic. The vehicle was diagnosed with sensotronic brake control (sbc) system failure. The contact was informed that the sensotronic brake control system needed to be replaced. The vehicle remained with the mechanic unrepaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to report the failure to the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 180,000.

11 Service Brakes problem of the 2014 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 10/08/2025

2014 mercedes E350 these models as well as those from2009-2015. Have recall on subframe but the brake lines rust out and deteriorate as mine has now done. If you go on line you tube etc. You will see the issue and all complaints. I had my subframe replaced under warranty at mercedes of flemington. About 1 1/2 years ago. While it was being serviced they asked me if I wanted to replace brake lines for $1200 since they had this part out job would be easy. So this means mercedes is well aware of the deterioration of these line the man at mb said the metal was inferior and this is result. On youtube it was stated that individuals took mb to court or accountability for this but results were negative. Yet problem exists. If you breaks fail while driving it is very dangerous. Also I believe there is a recall for gas lines for my model 2014 manufactured from June and July. The brake lines on my vehicle are rusting as is gas tank. This also is dangerous condition should accidents occur the lines because compromised with rust can much easily rupture causing fuels to spew out causing possible explosive condition. I have pictures and can forward.

12 Service Brakes problem of the 2006 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 10/01/2025

Mercedes benz issued a recall and extended a warranty on its 2003-2005 e class sbc braking systems (recall # 2005110001) and extended the warranty to 25 years; the 2006 e class models have the exact same sbc braking system but is not included in the recall. Mercedes needs to add the 2006 e class models to recall # 2005110001. My 2006 is experiencing the same sbc issues the 2003-2005 models are known to have but because my vehicle is 2006 it is not covered by the extended warranty.

13 Service Brakes problem of the 2013 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 09/29/2025

The rear subframe needs fixing. And they are putting my car on hold for 3 weeks, denied a loaner car, and I have to get back to work.

14 Service Brakes problem of the 2013 Mercedes Benz E350

I took car to dealer to have subframe repaired due to rust and the brake lines are rusted as well due to this issue and I am being charged for the brake lines.

16 Service Brakes problem of the 2011 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 09/18/2025

Subject: safety concern – mercedes-benz E350 4matic (2011) subframe and brake line rust dear [mercedes-benz customer care / NHTSA], I am writing to report a serious safety concern regarding my 2011 mercedes-benz E350 4matic. Recently, I brought my vehicle in for recall service, and during the inspection, it was discovered that: the rear subframe is broken due to rust. The brake lines are extremely rusted, and I was advised that I could lose braking control if they are not replaced immediately. The estimated repair cost exceeds $4,000. I have been a long-time owner of mercedes-benz vehicles and part of the mercedes-benz family. However, I am now deeply concerned about the safety of myself, my family, and others on the road due to this severe corrosion issue, which I believe may be a widespread defect. I respectfully request that mercedes-benz investigate this issue and provide assistance, as the failure of these critical components poses a serious safety hazard. Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter. Sincerely, marinko radakovic [phone: 781-521-3819] [email: marinko140@aol. Com].

17 Service Brakes problem of the 2014 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 09/04/2025

Vehicle rear brake lines are corroded and leaking, while no corrosion was observed on surrounding parts.

18 Service Brakes problem of the 2011 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 08/28/2025

Brake lines have completely rusted through. Car had additional rust issues on the subframe which mercedes admitted and replaced as part of an extended warranty . When that was repaired they never mentioned the brakes. Now 3 months later the brake lines rusted completely through … seems both subframe and lines rust at the same rate. And I would presume both cause equal safety risk. Why have they not yet issued an extended warranty on the brake lines? both of these appear to be common issues. Hopefully NHTSA can encourage a change.

19 Service Brakes problem of the 2011 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 08/25/2025

Brake lines rust and corrode at the plastic support clips. Brake lines are not made from quality materials. Suffrage also corroded. Suffrage was changed by dealer though when vehicle was returned the brake lines were broken. Car entered suffrage service with brake lines intact, rusted I wouldn't doubt but intact. When returned after changing suffrage, brake line was broken and leaking brake fluid. Extremely dangerous to return vehicle with broken brake lines and expected owner to drive away with no brakes. Changing brake lines was offered at a cost of $4000 but the lines were not broken upon dropping off for service. Brake lines should be warrantied and changed to a less corrosive material. Engine mounts fail and cause vibration.

20 Service Brakes problem of the 2012 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 08/22/2025

Brake line is thoroughly corroded, went to a repair shop, when they brought it back down, the subframe collapsed. Mercedes has a 20 yr warranty on the subframe so they will cover that but want another $3k to fix the brake line that was obviously tied to the same mfr issue that the sub frame was in regards to rusting. Dealer won't take any responsibility for anything but the subframe.

21 Service Brakes problem of the 2013 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 08/04/2025

Rear brake lines corroded and leaking, making the car disabled.

22 Service Brakes problem of the 2012 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 07/25/2025

I recently took my 2012 mercedes-benz E350 to an authorized mercedes-benz dealership after experiencing corrosion of the rear subframe. The dealership confirmed and is servicing the vehicle under an active recall notice that extended the original new vehicle limited warranty from 4 years/50,000 miles to 20 years /unlimited miles. After removing the subframe for repair, they observed serious corrosion of the brake lines. There had been no warnings or symptoms to alert me to any corrosion problems with the brake line prior to this. Most likely, the issue would not have been discovered if the dealership had not removed the subframe. The dealership advised me that this issue requires immediate service due to safety concerns (potential failure) as the braking system could fail while driving the vehicle. The cost to have the work done is $5800. Beyond the dealership service center, I'm not aware if brake line has been inspected by others (engineers) in mercedes-benz. However, this issue appears to be frequently observed in vehicles experiencing the rear subframe corrosion issue.

23 Service Brakes problem of the 2014 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 07/21/2025

Rear’s brake line leaking brake fluid and car will not stop ;the rears brake line is all rusted the car only has 65 k miles and garage all it life it’s a very serious safety issue thanks for taking this e mailed [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. 24 Service Brakes problem of the 2010 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 07/17/2025

My brakes went out while I was driving my family on a road trip. After getting towed I inspected the brake lines and they are absolutely destroyed. This is clearly a design flaw by mercedes. This needs to be recalled. You have to drop the rear subframe to repair this. Absolutely ridiculous.

25 Service Brakes problem of the 2015 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 06/06/2025

Rear brake lines rusted out on top of rear subframe which is rusting out and caused immediate brake failure . Our lives and the lives of other were at risk because we were driving on highway and suddenly brakes went to floor and had complete loss of brakes there were no prior warnings no way to prevent this . . . I see there is a recall on the subframe but not on the brake lines even though ive now read of this happening to many people.

26 Service Brakes problem of the 2014 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 06/05/2025

The rear brake lines, along with the rear subframe have experienced severe rust and corrosion.

27 Service Brakes problem of the 2013 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 03/27/2025

Excessive corrosion on rear brake lines. I've never had to replace brake lines on car before. The cost is almost $5,000 out of pocket and I believe this due to low quality products used to manufacture the original brake lines. I believe there should be an investigation into the brake lines as there could be serious injury if they fail.

28 Service Brakes problem of the 2013 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 03/19/2025

Rear subframe recall and brake lines. I am very disappointed and frustrated right now. 2013 E350 has completely corroded brake lines on an otherwise relatively rust free car. The vehicle is due to get the rear subframe replaced as part of the warranty extension. The brake lines are not covered and are 4,000 dollar additional fee to replace. I can’t get the work done anywhere else for cheaper because the rear subframe needs to be dropped in order to do the brake lines, making it cost prohibitive to have the subframe and brake lines done at different shops. Something is wrong with the brake lines they used when building this car. I’ve owned cars with 10x more rust and perfectly in tact brake lines. Frames rot away before I see brake lines this bad. They should have extended the warranty to the brake lines and I hope they do so I can get reimbursed in the future.

29 Service Brakes problem of the 2013 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 02/25/2025

There was already a recall for my rear subframe that I am now getting done due to rust corroding the metal structure. However, upon the dealers inspection the corrosion is also present on the rear brake lines which cause a safety concern and are charging $4000 to replace the brake lines aside from the warranty repair. It poses a safety hazard if the lines were to fail and have heard of others having the same issue along with rotted rear subframes.

30 Service Brakes problem of the 2010 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 02/17/2025

The contact owns a 2010 mercedes-benz E350. The contact stated while the contact's wife was driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed, however, the vehicle failed to stop as intended. The contact's wife was able to stop the vehicle from crashing into a concrete curb. The contact stated a nearby independent mechanic assisted the contact, and the vehicle was taken to the independent mechanic. The vehicle was diagnosed with a fractured brake line due to corrosion. The contact was advised to have the vehicle towed to the dealer. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a fractured rear brake line due to corrosion. The contact was informed that the rear brake line needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that a year ago the rear subframe fractured due to corrosion. The contact stated that the rear subframe was repaired under an unknown recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA hotline and report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.

31 Service Brakes problem of the 2013 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 02/04/2025

Was informed about the extended warranty for the rusting rear sub-frame issues on this make and year. Upon speaking with the dealership and further research online the rear hard brake lines are rusted as well and not covered by mercedes. Upon further research this a common issue and danager to my safety and others as well. Upon work required to fix rear sub-frame would make it easier job to also replace rusted brakes lines. But mercedes does not cover that and wants to charge customers a extra 3500$ to fix something that should not be happen as well. With the sub-frame out for replacement would make sense to replace other rusted parts with the extended warranty. It's a major safety issues already with rusted sub-frame and also added rusted brakes lines. This should be investigated further into to keep everyone safe. There are lot of owners unaware of this issues that could lead to brake failure. We use our brakes to stop and most new cars should not be having this issue so early.

32 Service Brakes problem of the 2010 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 02/01/2025

Mercedes had a recall for rusty subframe but the rear break lines are rusting out as well and it should be a recall just like the subframe. I have brake line leaking now and it will cost around 2500-3500 to fix per mercedes.

33 Service Brakes problem of the 2012 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 01/10/2025

2012 E350 both rear brake metal lines rusted out January 2025 brakes gave out. This is definitely connected to the rear subframe rusting too.

34 Service Brakes problem of the 2012 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 01/07/2025

Rear subframe corrosion and in addition, rear break line corrosion.

35 Service Brakes problem of the 2014 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 01/03/2025

Rear brake lines have rusted out causing a safety concern. Mercedes will not extend the warranty to repair the recognized inferior parts as they did for the rear subframe. The rusty rear brake lines are related to the rusted subframe which was repaired under extended warranty by mercedes at no cost. The same should apply to the rear brake lines. I am currently having the rear brake lines replaced due to this rust and safety issue. Please require mercedes to extend the warranty and related repair to the rear brake lines as it is systemic to these cars.
