Failure Date: 09/18/2024

Driving home on a 30mph street, had the brake light go on and felt the brake petal sink to the floor when I had to stop. Very concerning was grateful I wasn’t going faster. Cautiously made it home, and when I took it to the shop, they diagnosed that the brake lines had corroded. This is a huge safety concern and should be a recall as it could be fatal in certain circumstances.

47 Service Brakes problem of the 2014 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 09/02/2024

Rear brake lines rusting and corrosion.

48 Service Brakes problem of the 2014 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 08/18/2024

Rear subframe snapped under hard braking on the highway and caused my to veer into leftmost lane. It was terrifying and a severe hazard on the highway. Had vehicle towed to my house. I lifted and inspected my car and found the rear subframe was rusted and a crack straight through. The rear brake lines were also severely corroded and are very close to failing. Front brake lines have no corrosion. It seems that the rear subframe and rear brake lines have the same anti rust coating which are clearly not sufficient.

49 Service Brakes problem of the 2011 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 08/15/2024

Rear brake lines are known to corrode. Had to get my line replaced at 78xxx miles. This is a common problem for the w212 mercedes, along with the rear sub-frame rusting away. If the brake lines bursted when I was driving, I could of lost my life.

53 Service Brakes problem of the 2013 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 07/01/2024

Rusted brake lines after sunframe rust. All E350 models are experiencing this issue with the rear brake lines and the dealership is charging upwards of $4300 to replace even when the subframe is already removed from the vehicle due to subframe issues.

54 Service Brakes problem of the 2014 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 06/17/2024

Rear subframe rusted was covered under an extended warranty (after a lawsuit), but the rear brake lines are also very rusted and not covered by warranty. Rear springs also broken (rusted) and bolts seized.

55 Service Brakes problem of the 2012 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 06/08/2024

The rear subframe is corroded and needs to be replaces - there was no prior warning and the benz dealer stated this is something that only is evident to even the most highly trained mechanics once it is at the point of total failure. The rear brake lines are also corroded and the benz dealer will only pay for the subframe and not the very expensive rear brake line replacement which seems to be entirely related.

56 Service Brakes problem of the 2014 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 06/04/2024

The rear brake lines on my 2014 benz E350 was blowout while stopping at a traffic light. After inspection, the both rear brake lines were rusted.

57 Service Brakes problem of the 2014 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 05/30/2024

All of a sudden my brake error lights went on while driving to work. By the time I could stop at a garage on the way my brake fluid was very low and more was added. Had to again add more when I got home just so I could take the car to my repair shop. Independent repair specializing in mercedes identified 4 leaks in rear brake lines. Pictures show that all leaks are at or adjacent to clips attaching to the car. Something is wrong with the design or materials for this to happen consistently in the same car. Mechanic said this isn't expected until cars get at least 100k and shouldn't be consistently in the same connections. The fluid was draining so fast that if someone were driving a longer distance they may not have the ability to refill before brake failure. This is a safety hazard to have so many material failures at the same area of the brake lines.

58 Service Brakes problem of the 2014 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 05/15/2024

Suspension rear sub-frame rusted through, rear lower control arm disconnected from rear sub-frame due to rust/corrosion. It is available for inspection. While braking at highway speeds the car fishtailed and I almost lost control of the vehicle. This has not been confirmed or inspected by any service, insurance or police entity. No warning lights, messages etc. Brakes: rear brake lines are severely corroded in the same area as the rear sub-frame. Electrical system: battery continuously discharges and is dead after 5 hours.

59 Service Brakes problem of the 2013 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 05/09/2024

The brake fluid lines rusted. The front line, due to the rusted hole, leaked brake fluid to the point that the car had little to no braking ability. In addition, the computer warning did not activate. The car was taken to the dealer, where they verified that the computer warning did not activate, and that the brake fluid had bleed out causing the vehicle to have no brakes. This is a dangerous situation! the car is a little over 10 years old, has about 54,000 miles. Had I been on the highway and tried to make a hard stop, I could have had a terrible accident. The dealer now has the car for repairs, but there are many other E350 that have posted online that they have had an identical situation where the brake fluid lines have rusted out! this leaves the driver, without any warning, to be put in a life threating situation!.

60 Service Brakes problem of the 2012 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 05/08/2024

The rear brake lines on my 2012 benz E350 has a lot of corrosion and one of the blowout while stopping from 25mph to a complete stop. Upon further inspection, it was completely rusty in many places. Mercedes needs to address this issue because its unsafe rather danger to drive.

61 Service Brakes problem of the 2012 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 04/29/2024

On April 29, 2024, I was driving my 2012 E350 mercedes and the brakes failed upon leaving an appointment. There was less than 10% stopping ability. Fortunately, I was able to use my transmission toggles and emergency brake as back up, if needed. I immediately stopped to pick up brake fluid and filled the reservoir which was virtually empty. Drove the vehicle home, left it parked for two hours and then tried to then drive it again but to no avail. The system had "bled" all over my garage floor and driveway. As such it was taken to the dealership on a flatbed. Estimated repair. . . $1,700 this follows having to replace the cargo springs due to corrosion and breakage, the rear suspension sub assembly currently being replaced due to corrosion which mercedes acknowledged is a problem and is covering under an extended warranty. In my mind, all of this is related and certainly a safety concern, beyond the expensive repair costs already and now currently being incurred. Can you help?.

62 Service Brakes problem of the 2013 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 04/26/2024

Complete system brake failure. Brake lines are completely corroded.

63 Service Brakes problem of the 2012 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 04/25/2024

On my recent visit to my trusted independent service center, which specializes in mercedes-benz, they noticed serious corrosion problems. There were no symptoms to alert me to any problem. Also, I never received the notice from mb so how would I know? my mechanic asked me to sign a waiver (which I never have had to do before) that stated the rear subframe was rotted completely through; needs to be replaced ASAP; and is unsafe to drive. The rear brakes lines also had corrosion. This tells me the car is unsafe to drive, and must be fixed. It seems that mb issued an "extended warranty" to cover the rear subframe, but not the rear brake lines. I contacted mb corporate who said they 'may' offer some assistance. I have an appointment next week with a mb dealer who must provide an estimate of the damage and cost to mb for their approval before doing any work. As a result of learning what's eating my car underneath, I won't take it on any extended trips. I really am afraid of something bad happening. And it has, to many others. No one should ever have to get into a car and worry about these two safety issues. It’s very important that mercedes-benz recognizes its responsibility to not only its customers, but to all the other drivers on the road who can be negatively affected through accidents caused by these corrosion issues.

64 Service Brakes problem of the 2012 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 04/18/2024

I purchased the car late April. I drove the car for three or four days and started noticing a rattling coming the front right part of the car (passenger side. ). I chatted with the warranty company (silverrock. ). They asked me to take it to a meineke auto repair facility in olympia, wa. Meinke’s mechanic diagnosed it as a loose component involving the brake caliper. He informed me they were covering it under the warranty, & asked me to bring the car back on Wednesday as he was short staffed. I brought the car back on Wednesday, it was there all day. He called late in the afternoon and informed me they found the problem and that silverrock had amended the claim and refused to cover it. Told me it needed new brakes for 800+ bucks. That being said it was also sold to me with gouges out of several tires. Of which I have photos. This is inexcusable it is also a safety issue.

70 Service Brakes problem of the 2013 Mercedes Benz E350

Failure Date: 03/03/2024

My break’s completely failed with no warning signs while I was driving on the freeway. About 6 months ago my driver side break lines were rusted and had a leak in the line causing my brakes to fail. The line was replaced with nickel copper lines and on Sunday when driving the car at 40 mph for ten minutes and the breaks began to fail. As I pulled over to get to safety after parking the car the check break fluid level warning came on the dashboard. I got the car towed to my house and the following morning I added brake fluid the following and realized it’s leaking near the rear brake line on the driver side. But why and how?.
