Mercedes Benz E350 owners have reported 9 problems related to front driver side air bag inflator (under the air bag category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Safety recall interim notice about a safety defect for my vehicle was received on March 19, 2019. States a passenger side inflator explosion could occur. At time of notice parts were not available. Despite dire warnings of the possibility of severe injury or death due to the defect, it is now seventeen months later and mercedes still does not have an estimated date of repair or even when parts will be available.

Jan 18,2019 manufacturer recall number2019010001 NHTSA recall number19v010 recall statusrecall incomplete, remedy not yet available Mercedes Benz alerted me of the problem 2 years ago and has done nothing to resolve the issue nor provided the timing to do so. I own a luxury, very expensive model. Per the recall, the faulty air bag is dangerous. It stated that: ' under certain circumstances during a crash that necessitates frontal airbag deployment, the defect in your passenger-side frontal airbag inflator may cause the inflator to explode. A passenger-side inflator explosion during deployment could result in metal fragments striking the front passenger or other occupants, possibly causing serious injury or death. ' I do not feel safe driving my car. This is a major problem and it is their obligation to correct a defect that is a major safety issue. Safety risk: according to takata, in the event of an inflator explosion, metal fragments could pass through the air bag cushion material, which may result in injury or death to vehicle occupants. Remedy: an authorized mercedes-benz dealer will replace the passenger-side airbag. Please advise how I can resolve this issue and have the necessary repair completed now. I cannot wai any longer, other wise, I will seek legal damages. I would prefer a faster way to resolve this rather than going to court.
Takata inflators recall but the mercedes dealership has not yet replaced the airbag.

According to takata, in the event of an inflator explosion, metal fragments could pass through the air bag cushion material, which may result in injury or death to vehicle occupants. This has been going on for a year!!!! every time I log in to see if the remedy is available it says no. This is a death risk and law suit waiting to happen.
Takata recall. I was issued a takata recall for defective airbags December 2017 stating that "the defect in your driver, passenger, or both driver and passenger frontal airbag inflators may cause the airbag to explode during airbag deployment and could result in metal fragments striking the front occupants, possibly causing serious injury or death. " the recall notice states that replacement parts are expected to be available by December 31, 2018. As of today February 17, 2018, over 1 year later, the NHTSA website says "recall incomplete, remedy not yet available. " this is completely unacceptable. I bought a mercedes with the impression that mercedes stands behind its high safety rating and crash test rating. If the airbag causes serious injury or death upon deployment in a crash, then the high safety rating is irrelevant. I have been driving this car around for more than 1 year risking possible injury or death because this matter has not been resolved yet. There needs to be some recourse. Mercedes should stand behind its products and compensate its loyal clients if it cannot resolve this issue within a timely manner. In my opinion, over 1 year and counting is not considered a timely manner.

Takata recall I contacted Mercedes Benz of naples (florida) (239) 227-2622, after receiving a "legal notice for owners of vehicles with takata airbag inflators" and they said "there is nothing we can do" because they do not have the parts. How do I get the parts replaced in a timely manor?.
According to takata, in the event of an inflator explosion, metal fragments could pass through the air bag cushion material, which may result in injury or death to vehicle occupants. However, a remedy is not yet available? still??? I have been waiting since 2017!.

Takata recall. Mercedes benz (mbz) sent letter dated April 2016 notifying me of driver's side airbag inflator recall and another letter dated August 2016 notifying me of front passenger side airbag inflator recall. As yet I have received no information from mbz as to when a replacement part will even become available, let alone ready for installation. Neither of the subject airbags has deployed, but I am concerned that this problem is not being addressed in a timely matter. In the meantime, this vehicle has a potentially very dangerous problem.
