Two problems related to other fuel system pump have been reported for the 2006 Mercedes Benz E500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
I filled the vehicle up a on 5/10/14 and the next day my wife was telling me there was a strong gas odor in and outside of the car. On may 12. 2014 I inspected the vehicle and the gas odor was extremely strong. I looked online for similar problem and they said it was an issue for all mercedes e-class (2006 - 2009). I removed the rear seat and found the leakage at the fuel pump.
The contact owns a 2006 Mercedes Benz E500. The contact stated that whenever refueling, he would smell a strong gasoline fuel odor inside and outside the cabin. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis and the contact was informed that there was a leak in the fuel pump that was located under the rear seat. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 60,000.
